Hey Harry, worked on "palm down" in takeaway and palm up without ball. Next day hit range taking a few practice swings stopping parallel up n down. Then, hit many balls . Result? Absolutely 👍 great! Will work on this next 2 days before I golf again to try to enable change without thinking too much. Thanx young Brit man!
Hi Paul, thanks for commenting, it’s great to read you’ve been able to work on this and see the results you’re getting very quickly. How have you found this when using the woods? Also is there anything you’d like to see me change/ add on the channel? Any other video topics?
Thank you very much for this video. The visual and the easy-to-understand explanation of the trailhead was incredible. Most training videos tell you to hinge the wrist, but don't actually show you how to do it. I got back in the golf 2 years ago add struggle with compressing the ball. This video was a great help I'm going to keep it in my catalog to always take as a refresher when things start to go sideways. 👍👍
Hi Rich, thanks for commenting. Really pleased to read that this video about the wrists has really helped you strike your irons better. I totally agree, we need to know why the fault is actually the problem, then how to fix the problem through explaining and demonstrating. Takes a lot longer with regards to video footage for you all to watch but makes the changes easier to make.
Hi Tim, thanks for commenting. Anywhere between a Neutral to strong the tips and drills in this should come in handy! But a weak grip I’d recommend changing. Is there anything you’d like to see me post to help you with your game?
@@harryshawgolf Hi Harry! I am experimenting with a more wristy putting stroke. Any thoughts?! (I have a curved face putter so the vertical is easy, I just now need to hit straight....) Cheers!
I would encourage rather than the thought of making the putting stroke more wristy... almost let the straight angle between your arms and hands go. Allow gravity almost to make the movement. If you use too much of the wrists it can discourage good distance control and strike will be off.
@harryshawgolf Thanks very much. With soft hands definitely then. I tried Iona's "roll/toss a ball at the hole then putt" drill, but I prefer Seve's "look at hole while you putt" drill, and often actually putt like that on course with long putts, my GF though loves Iona's drill and she too does it on the course (but with an imaginary ball)! Whatever works eh! thanks again!
Excellent video Harry on proper wrist setting that creates an effortless swing. I've been working on this very thing Harry with the flat left wrist and bent back right wrist. Your comment about letting the right hand control this wrist set is very "eye popping!" I like the idea of the palm of the right hand pointed at the sky at the top of the backswing and then right palm down to the ground on the downswing and eventually to the target at impact. This should work nicely with my Y set up and the movement of same. Well Done Harry! Keep Up the Good Work!!
Thank you John, really pleased you’ve enjoyed another video. This will work well with the your Y set up? I’m intrigued with what that means! Please explain.
@@harryshawgolf It's basically the "Triangle" set up with the shoulders, arms, and club forming a Y! Just another way of showing the set up. I've shown several members at the club I belong to and last week one of them won his flight. The other one was hitting the ball a lot more consistent. I'm going to quit giving lessons! :-)
This worked really well for me with the irons. (Not tried woods yet) I am having lessons atm and my pro has me very toe up, first stage, but unfortunately bad old habits and my lack of ability!! Is causing me to get disconnected, rolling forearms and under plane! This drill helped me compress, less flippy and stop the above. I will chat to my pro and suggest maybe working this into my swing. Great content as usual.
Thanks Fraser, pleased you’re enjoying the content. Is there anything else you’d like to see me do differently on the channel? Also, it’s great to read you’ve been able to incorporate this into your swing, I’m sure your pro/ coach will be happy to add this in as it’s only going to help you achieve what your pro/ coach wants anyway! Have you managed to work on this since?
It is however imagine trying to do this with the longer clubs, woods and river in particular, it would get a little off putting seeing the trail side of the club head lifting off the ground (to exaggerate the movement) I'd recommend setting this angle/ exaggerating this once you've started the swing. If you find this works with every club however... go for it!
I’d recommend trying this with driver… but when doing this in stages it’ll be hard (ball will fly very low and won’t travel far) you’ll only noticed the different once you get used to this and make full swings.
Very good question and whether you have a neutral to strong grip this would apply very nicely… in fact the next video I’ll be uploading will reveal more for you if you play golf with a stronger grip. However for weaker grips I’d advise changing the grip… focusing on this… then applying this into your game.
Yeah i also work on that! my problem is when i get to parallel, p2 to p3, feels so weird, i dont even know how i do it sometimes, because i play my best golf when it is working. I guess the weirdness comes from me trying to imitate rory and how he has such a wide arch.
It’s interesting you say this because I find it easier to get this wrist setting if I keep the arc of my swing wider. I suppose if you’re having the tendency of getting too parallel from p2 and p3 setting the wrists earlier will help.

Yes if someone has a strong grip, but setting the wrists is still better this way just applying more shaft lean to keep the face square. A video coming out very soon will be on this topic!
@@harryshawgolf Thank you. In my set up I start at the forward shaft lean contact position and then do the take back . Works well. If I start neutral set up it’s hard for me to be consistent .
That’ll be because you’re releasing the set too early. Or before impact so you’ll end up closing the face down too much. Or this can be for other reasons. Try holding the angle more and doing this in the stages in the video. And if you’re still struggling please let me know and we can take a look at your swing.

palm down, palm up.. super cool... but palm back down again... magic bro - I sorta love you.

Harry. I’m thinking about pre setting my wrists and starting back swing from the preset with right wrist bent back all the way. Is that a good idea?

How does wrist angle at impact change according to grip strength at address…?

Please do a club path. I tend to drop too steep inside and fade or slice to the right.

@@harryshawgolf could you do a video using track man data that shows how club path and face to path influences ball flight?

Works well if you're a strong body rotator swinger. Hard to do if you're a arm swinger.
I’d recommend looking into adding more rotation into your swing to help with this. Unless you’re fining consistency with your swing at the moment?
How do I buy the training aid that gets the right hand to work on the backswing? … Wilky

I preset My Clubs at that allmost 45 Degree angle at address and hit an Draw .
Brilliant, draws and fades are both great as long as they’re consistent. Have you played with a draw for long?
When I do this the ball hooks wildly
