Great collab! Thank you for always trying out for us such cool products, letting us experience and appreciate them, through these videos, what we otherwise couldn't really afford. Hahaha. At least I have a bass for a year now. Yaaaay.
When working as a Party DJ I liked to punch in a bit of lower second octave to the sub harmonics (75Hz and below) to accent some of the bass hits. Especially when people put drinks too close to edge of the tables 🤭
It's my first video of yours I ever watched. I thought: hmm, that's different way of looking at bass, it's pretty fresh here Then you mentioned throwing fuzz in front of octaver at 3:59 I almost spilled my water Thomann, he's a cool kid. He can stay!
How about fuzz effects for bass? Seems the perfect segway. Although I find it too easy to threading upon a guitar player's territory. I like to use a multiband compressor after fuzz so it's bringing back the lows. I could use an octaver for that purpose I believe. Also cab sim for bassversus DI boxes, if you're using them.
Great video! I absolutely appreciate your videos Patrick. 1 question... how do I find that hollowbody Benson bass? I've looked all over for it, even on Bensons main site and Thomann's site, but I can't find it anywhere!
Man, I really enjoyed this video. I’ve been playing since the 90’s and just recently gave into using pedals and woohoohoo, is this fun! I’m using (in this order) Tech 21 progrmable pre amp, MXR M87 compressor, EHX Bass Clone …. and planning to add an octave pedal… wich would you recommend?
Generally the open A, that’s a good rule of thumb. If there is more fundamental and less overtones they can often track better / lower, eg turning the tone down and / or using flats
you sounded fantastic. however, you taught me nothing bout how the octave pedal worked. Does it actually play an octave higher than what you are playing, or does it hold in place until you are done playing your bass line and plays along with you in harmony? I think some people are baffled. watch your won videos.
Next time you're going to demo an effect, play without the effect first, then switch it on, otherwise it is not 100% clear what the effect is achieving. (Yes, my ears are that untrained and ignorant, before anybody says it)
To prevent the octave down from flubbing out, I got a micro-Thumpinator. It basically filters out all of the frequencies in the flub zone.
That's with passive basses? Or the same situation with active basses?
whoa patrick teaming up with Thomanns. Nice!
Great tip about playing an octave higher so the sub octave doesn’t flop out, keep the bass videos coming

Glad to see informative bass content. covers are cool but they are everywhere on youtube.

OC-5 is my favorite pedal😊 Thank you for the wonderful video!

Thanks Patrick !
This is exactly what I want, tiny bit of fuzz, octaver and keep it clean
Slaphead! Great playing as always

Top demais 🤘🤘🤘
I'd like to see a video on chorus effects.
We made a song, that could really use the 1 octave down effect on a low E and I cannot find an answer anywhere. Would doing that hurt a bass amp?

Can I use one to make a 6 string bass sound like a electric
Could it be part of making amazing Chris Squire (💔) bass tone? 🤔
Cool
what is the minimum fret that should be clean on a good octover?
