Is this not the most sublime and perfect men's choir music on the planet? I haven't the faintest idea of what these gentlemen are saying, but it is certainly glorious to listen to!
Hello, thank you for your compliments to our culture:) Here is the translation of the song: ''In Khidistavi let’s swear an oath, we have become blood brothers, let us leap upon Master Mukhrani, let his roof cave in on his head. "Under Master Mukhrani’s serfdom, I couldn’t fill my basket with flour, I couldn’t raise a heifer I couldn’t yoke an ox to thresh grain." "Oh sword, forged in Khevsureti, A Tush gilded you in Telavi, King Erekle consecrated you, And wedded you to the battle, Oh enemy, oppress me, I won’t cry, Tears are women’s right, I’ve been many times in this state, Yet I never groaned with pain, Give me a while, I will sharpen, My sword and I will load my flintlock, So you can reap very finely, Everything you had sown for me.''
Magnificent beauty! Very few musical creations in human history attain such depths and heights - this music is second to none and can only be compared with the creations of giants such as Bach (for the moment I cannot think or do not dare mention anyone else). My only regret is that I cannot understand the lyrics. So, Georgians, help us, who adore your music but are clueless about your language, get at least some idea... Love to all of you from Canada
Замечательно..Как всегда-гармонии, чистота...Только мерзко читать грязные комментарии. Если вы так грузин не любите, и культуру грузинскую- что тут делаете,интернет-герои? Я вот просто не смотрю то,что мне не нравится.
Wonderful music....great choire.....Saw the Rustavi Choire in Dresden, Germany in 2011. It was a great experience, that I will never forget. The music really touches the soul and gives you peace of mind.
Chakrulo means "sacredly bonded" and it's about a warrior swearing to revenge his enemy, who offended him and tricked him with taking away his joys of fair good life. Full of bitter sadness and cold rage the warrior and his brothers-warriors swear into the brotherhood of revenge to make that enemy get what he deserves killing him with sword blessed by the king Irakly.
Years ago I had purchased the CD RIM and the accompanying softbound book 'Voyager The Interstellar Golden Record', in a deluxe boxed set. Tchakrulo was one of the entries in the music catalog. When I first heard it, I was enthralled. I didn't know vocal song would be this thought provoking, deeply and profoundly stimulating. I had let everyone I knew listen to it. To this day it still moves me emotionally. I have discovered the best (in my opinion) recording to be The Rustavi Choir, on the compilation CD album 'The Silk Road', available on ITUNES, and probably on Amazon Music.
@Lado1677 thank you so much for the translation - now that I've got the feel of the lyrics, I'm even more intrigued and fascinated. I hope to hear them in concert. And Georgia is definitely going to be one of my next travel destinations. All the best Lado1677, to Rustavi and to all Georgians!
I'd love to know the translation of this song to English. A previous post said that it was "Mourning a Lost Son"....If anyone knows the translation, please share! Thank you!
I’ve been introduced to this style of music by sample use by Kate Bush in the eighties. Was always my dream to find a full piece of this style. Many heartily meant thanks to all the people who made this possible. Musically it is incredible deep and rich.
This is awesome! I can totally picture this as a soundtrack in a medieval fantasy series/movie (like Game of Thrones for example). You can really feel the emotions being evoked in this piece. Just magnificent. You guys are great!

Actually I think the Spooky Men do it better..

The military oath in devotion
This music is amazing! Do only choirs sing like this or is this real "folk" music--did people sing like this in the villages, really?

Как красиво... Чакруло - "Связанные клятвой"...

Fred Pineda Don't bring up that liberal garbage in the presence of this sublime music.
I know you already posted partial lyrics to Chakrulo on another video... but if you're able to post the whole set, I'd be amazed.
