Larry Holmes is a top 5 all time HW in my opinion. Nobody, even a young Ali, would be able to outbox him. The only way to beat a young, prime Holmes was to KO him. Shavers did, but when Larry hit the canvas he woke up! Prime Holmes was virtually unbeatable
@@milojanis4901 I wasn't that impressed with Holmes initially but after the Norton fight, he seemed to steadily improve. He definitely proved his worth by getting off the canvas against Shavers and winning. It was just amazing that he got up!

Duran trained at Larry Holmes's gym back in the early 1980s. Roberto was so gracious and cool to the fans there, includng me, who watched him workout. After his workout he stood for pictures with people and signed autographs, joking and talking with me and others. A great boxer, and a great man. Holmes, also, was very nice to fans. He signed autographs, stood for pictures, etc., after his workout, also. Two great boxers, great guys to their fans. Louis, Ali, Holmes - the 3 best ever heavyweight boxers, IMO. Duran, greatest lightweight boxer, and in top 4 best ever all weight classes pound for pound. Sugar Ray Robinson welterweight, Roberto Duran lightweight, Henry Armstrong feather weight to middleweight, Ezzard Charles at light heavy, etc. Roberto is that good, among the best ever boxers P4P any weight, all time, IMO.

Pero justo por eso mismo es que eramos tan fanaticos del Boxeo, por la calidad de grandes boxeadores que habian en casi todos los pesos. Pero en estos tiempos de ahora francamente casi no veo boxeo, no hay nada bueno que ver.
Duran can look as strong as he likes. Holmes fought and beat the hardest puncher in boxing history twice, Earnie Shavers. Yeah he looks strong, wrong weight class to challenge champion boxers if your a lightweight.
Got to give it up for larry holmes . He was vilified somewhat in the 1980s for reasons your all aware of, yet he has held his dignity and poise and has turned it full circle. Loved and respected by all .
I had the opportunity to meet Larry Holmes and get a photo with him when he came to Oneonta N.Y. for a book viewing. That was so friggin awesome!!! 2015 or 2016
Larry Holmes was a monster in his prime that no heavyweight in today's era or future era ..can beat him. He is the greatest of all time..same cloth with Ali.. People should respect Larry Holmes as the same respect given to Ali.. He truly deserve it..
It says to me that they are legends. At the same time I couldn't tell you what would have happened if they had fought in Larry's prime. I mean Larry from 1978 and Holy 1990. Close fight.
Are you sure? Coz i think/am sure that George Foreman is more $$ier than Larry...but who really cares we love them for their accomplishments in and out of the ring...the things that money can't buy
Yes I agree, I also think he held back. Of course Ali was 100 miles past his peak with Parkinson’s knocking at the door, but wasn’t a Holmes fault. Ali was enormous inside and outside the ring, it’s impossible to follow someone like that.
Que bueno que tremendo 3 astro de el boxeo pero el mejor es Roberto durán sin quitarle méritos alos otros 2 Q también fueron buenos mis respetos alos 2 peso completo desde venzuela Aníbal Martínez
Great stuff. Larry Homes Evander Holyfield and of course the great Roberto hands of stone Duran. Three superb fighters. Duran great lightweight. Holyfield light heavyweight. Holmes great heavyweight. Holmes doesn’t get enough credit because he followed Ali , a living God.
Fun fact, Duran’s dad is Mexican American from LA who was in the Army stationed in the US base in Panama. After the Army moved him out of Panama, he broke up with Roberto’s mom and abandoned them. Funny how life turns out. If Duran was never abandoned by his dad, Duran would never have become the world famous, millionaire boxer.
These three guys would dominate todays champions.

As a lifelong boxing fan it's easy to 'love' Duran. The guy was a warrior. A multi weight champ who made boxing really fun to watch. 👍
Duran and Holmes have always been buddies.
Holmes still doesn't know what Duran is talking about, funny shit.
I don't know if Duran knew what Holmes told him that Duran was paying for dinner tonight
Similar to the postfight interview of Holmes/Mercer when Duran shows up on TVKO.
Holmes does not understand Duran. He doesn't understand that. He doesn't understand that. He doesn't understand that.
Great and funny reunion of these legends ❤
