Would need to use Dac Loop to make it even and probably take too much time in between switching to properly ab. DAC loop is a great option and Hegel’s internal streamer is great if you want to save the $. 🍻

Great review as always. Love the look of this amplifier, although I’m still pretty happy with my H190 . I just bought the KEF R3 meta got a great deal for the S3 stands and R3’s for £1700 brand new. How are you getting on with your R3’s ?
Thanks! The R3’s are really nice. Will make a review eventually. Mine are connected to the H190 and it’s a great match. I got those matching stands too but ended up with the R3’s on my shelf. Shame because they’re the nicest stands!🍻
@@MisterChibsinteresting tip with the Hegel controller and the rubber switch controller cover, those Hegel remotes really don’t like being dropped! The look of the cover over the remote kind of spoils the look though and it go’s over some of the buttons, would be nice if Hegel made something like this for the remote. Also really interesting to see that Hegel have finally addressed the annoying buzzing sound from the transformer.
@@hclandscapes Looks are subjective but I prefer my remote with the cover. It feels amazing in the hand and the silicone makes it not slide off the arms of my lazyboy. Where it covers the buttons doesn't stop them from working while guiding my thumb to the volume buttons without having to look at the thing. It's a great hack! You should try it. 🍻
@@MisterChibsI will definitely try it , my Hegel remote has slid of my lazyboy a few times and it makes a horrible sound when it hits the floor , hopefully it will give a bit more protection too . Would you say that using the H390 or H400 would be overkill for the R3 meta’s? And the H190 would be better match?
@@hclandscapes There’s a noticeable bump in SQ from H190 to H390 / H400 with respect to R3’s. As for the remote being protected, yes - definitely. Playing tennis in Wii Sports back in the day, my wiimote would sometimes fly across the room, hit a wall, and be just fine. It’s a big grippy shock absorber! I miss Wii Tennis!🎾
New H390s are now being sold for $4500, H400s for $7000. When it comes to audio, I've never been a cheapskate, but I did buy the less expensive H390. Probably put that $2500 towards an external DAC. I'm somewhat disappointed that neither the H390, H400 or H600 can process DSD128 or DSD256 through the network input.
Great review Mr. ....Hegel is not my jam...but I have no doubt that is one impressive amp! So....how soon will your H390 be up on Canadian Audio Mart???? 😂 Just one thing about the review, though.... why does that wrap that you put on the remote kind of remind me of some sort of sex toy? 😬
Thanks for watching! The remote cover is ment for a Nintendo Wii remote but fits Hegel’s remote perfectly. The pack comes with 2 so I suppose you can use the other as a sex toy. Just don’t get them confused!! 🥴🍻
I've been building my Amps& DACs lately BUT it won't always be that way .. I will assume Hegel is compliant with the EU mandate for PFC ... Most of my setups are complex while enjoying the current I still look forward to a simpler future. On a different note I plan on having my locally run AI server build a DIY video on DC blockers and EMI litigation Audiophiles for around $ 75
They are compliant indeed. Story time: When I first got the amp in, I thought something was wrong with it. Couldn’t connect to the thing from Hegel’s own app, or Roon over my network while H400 was in standby mode. I emailed Hegel and they told me because of said EU power mandate, this was a setting that comes switched off. Sort of pointless if you want to access the H400 at all times. I found that setting and turned it on. Now it works like it should! Thanks for watching! 🍻

A very nice piece of kit …but the lack of firmware upgrade to the H390 is a little off putting..but as you said it doesn’t have the physical capacity to take the new software. On the control app ..regarding the volume..if you go landscape ..do you get more control ..but I suspect it’s locked . Once again great review. Thank you .

@@nikkipatton-mk8st I don’t have experience with the H300. Can’t recommend the H390 enough and you may see an influx of used ones with the 400 release. It’s going to sound different than your tube amp. Try and demo if you can before buying. 🍻
