  • In this video, I show you how to assemble the DELACK 3D Printer Enclosure. My company, 3D Sourcerer, sells this kit for $120 on our website and on Amazon. This kit includes everything you need to assemble the enclosure (except a 3D printer and about half a roll of filament) as well as a bonus LED light for lighting your enclosure. At this time, we only offer this item in the USA, but we plan to expand if the product has high enough demand.

    I bought the LED kit on sale last last year and was able to move my printer from the garage into my office. I don't have an Ikea Lack table, but I love that it's light and small enough to place on the end of my standing desk! Thanks for sharing all the printable add-ons and links to parts on Amazon! I added the hygrometer, fan, HEPA filter and fire alarm.
    I noticed a bit of air turbulence from the fan being on the inside of the case, so out of an abundance of caution I flipped it around and designed an exterior cowl so now the fan pulls air vs pushing. Having those original files made modifications a breeze!
    Long story short, I appreciate you making this available - it was fun putting together, fine-tuning to fit my environment, and it's really elevated my 3D printing!

    Just ordered one of these last night. Nice to put a face to the creator. Looks like a really sick product.
    Printing in Polymaker PolyTerra Matte PLA (Charcoal Black & Marble White). Probably not the ideal material for the long-term, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there :D.
    I've got White & Black Polymaker ASA which would likely be perfect for this build...but I don't exactly have an enclosure yet sooooo. haha

    I like the simplicity of this. There are, however, two issues to clarify. The power supply button of the black (new Prusa PSU) is on the back. Even without the enclosure a PITA to get to. The only viable option is to have a powerstrip with on/off switch. Not very neat, but will do the trick. The other issue though is the heat build up during longer prints. A lot of people and some competitive enclosure designs move the entire PSU outside the enclosure. What's your take on this?
    Cheers.

    • @madebyjwillis
      @madebyjwillis  8 месяцев назад

      1. You leave the printer on unless you are moving the printer (there is no need to use the switch at the back just like any other electric appliance in your home)
      2. Those competitive enclosures cost $200-$500. This one costs $119.99 with free shipping. I have printed with enclosures with the PSU inside for over 5 years and never had an issue. Even Prusa doesn’t require that in their $300 enclosure. So feel free to buy another option if you think that’s better for your needs.

      @@madebyjwillisyes it is. The Prusa enclosure has the psu on the back of the enclosure. This is not a safe solution. Also the Prusa lack version has the psu outside of the enclosure.

    Is there anywhere to get the 3D files to print? My kit arrived today and the thumb drive was empty.. no files. So I can't set it up. Amazon has not been at all helpful.

      Haha no that’s Fahrenheit but was with a short PLA print so it’ll probably get to 90-100F with PETG or something else where the print bed is hotter. PETG parts are fine! I think your basically need an external heat source to get anywhere near too hot for the printer itself

      18” tall without a spool - spools are different diameters but most are around 8” so you’ll need at least 27”

    How do temps sit when you’re printing ASA? Just curious if you have to remote the power supply, control board etc. the prusa lack enclosure splits components to outside of enclosure.This is due to heat affecting the power supply and board etc. the other thing over time is the petg parts warping or sagging. Require adjustment and tightening. . To use this would you have to print parts with asa?
    I’m looking to swap my petg parts to asa to allow higher temp printing. I just used a bunch of tin foil to print some asa and it worked but is wasteful so this is cool.

    • @madebyjwillis
      @madebyjwillis  7 месяцев назад

      I don’t usually print ASA, but I’ve done PETG and never had issues. Prusa actually has walked back the need to move the parts externally, so I think it’s a non-issue. I’ve had enclosures for plenty of years and most don’t get anywhere near temperature that causes issues with the electronics

      @@madebyjwillis okay cool - it just going off the lack video where prusa suggested to remote the psu and the control board to reduce heat issues.

    • @75keg75
      @75keg75 7 месяцев назад

      @reallyjoewilly I currently have foil wrapped around my mk3s+ to limit draughts. It actually works fairly well and I've been thinking about making an acrylic enclosure that is as small as I can make it without clashing. just been weylaid elsewhere and don't have autocad access now. Fusion sucks vs acad. while fusion can be easier to model 3d coponents the interface is not easy for an autocad and microstation use liek me. some simple commands like move are convoluted.

    • @dverbeek84
      @dverbeek84 9 дней назад

      @@75keg75PSU definitely needs to be removed because PSU don’t like heat. This can cause fire. Controlboard is better to put oudside but is not really a safety issue. Only for the lifespan of the board. But before this happens I have a new printer :)
