Omg I can't get over how much I love these damn things. That side profile, where you're back just far enough to see under it a bit too.....Only a few cars actually get me geeking out about them. the 911, some old Mopar stuff and the Conquest for sure.
I had a 89 Conquest TSi, 118k miles bone stock with NOS and reconditioned parts. Added an Eclipse MAF, mechanical boost gauge, manual boost controller and turned up to 17#, 3" no cat turbo back exhaust, Hooker Aero Flow muffler for the best deep sound. Immediately after turning up the boost an ACT Xtreme clutch disc and pressure plate was required, and I installed some poly bushings. 14.35@97mph in the quarter mile and probably could have got to 14 flat at 100 with some practice. Had a lot of go faster goodies for it but sold it. I have a 70 440 6bbl Roadrunner now, but in the future I would like to have a TSi with a 2JZ swap. SHP wheels too. Mine was Fiji Blue. GREAT cars, handle like they are on rails!
You are too funny bro! Great vid. I had a 1975 version of this car back in Tokyo in 1984. It was a 1975 Mitsubishi Galant GSR GTO.....LOVED IT! Wish I had it now. Cheers
I owned an '87 five speed in Atlantic Blue from '92 until '95. When it ran correctly, which was rare, it was very impressive and it always handled very well. Thanks for the video!
Excellent video ! I bought an 1989 Conquest new....black, 5 speed. I think I just hit 40,000 miles last summer. When this car is on the ex-way, and you're doing 60 - 65 mph, and you downshift to 4th gear and punch it, you have no idea that you're driving a 4 cylinder. I did put a true dual stainless exhaust on it with cherry bombs. It sounds incredible. Something told me to hold onto this car over the years, and I'm so glad that I did. You just don't see them on the road anymore. I use Mother's Bees Wax on it, and it looks better than showroom. Lot's of fun.
Cool stuff mate, it's great to see all the 80's dream cars being kept alive. That Starquest looks fun. Stoked you have an MR2 as well! I had 2 SCs years ago. Toyota for life!
Well, I know I'm 3 years later to the party, but I like your idea of not ruining that beautiful car by bolting on a grip of bullshit. Experience the car the way it was intended. I cannot express to you how deeply I respect you for that.
God man, that's a really clean score! Thanks for throwing the celica in there! I can't get over that car but you already know. Please make a vid on that last one soon! That thing looks pristine asf!!!!
+n0eLoL Man I'm late as hell on the reply, sorry about that man! Yeah, the silver celica! If you could find the time to just shoot a quickie that's be awesome. a side by side with the death proof celica would be pretty cool to see. The silver one looks pretty original. I'm getting pretty jealous of your collection! sorry for being long winded and rambling... lol
not sure if you tried going to the Parts Department seeing if you could of gotten a original key made once they seen proof of ownership but i wish i could of seen this when this video was new. sure it was a pain having to go through all of that wiring ! love these cars
I was selling this in Michigan, heartland from American Autoland, even those die hards Loved this Chrysler, good conclusion,I would like this retro in Europe
I dream of owning one of these, same color.....I have only seen ONE Conquest at all in in real life. It sat in a drive way for as long as I can remember.....Finally I was on my way to finally knock on the door an tell them I dream about it, would love it, fix it, an even stop back by with it on occasion if they sold it to me. As the house came into view it was gone. But I was gonna stop anyway. Turns out, couple days before, THEY PAID SOMEONE TO COME TAKE IT!!!! Clean title, all parts, only one easily fixable dent. It would need all new rubber, but the car was complete, ONE OWNER. I guess the dude blew the car up in the mid 90s, parked it, "ill fix her one day" an shit never happened and it just sat. He said the dent was from his kid backing into it one winter. The guy almost seemed like he wanted to cry as much as I did when he found out I was in love with his car and dreamed about it for years. I had dreams of getting it. Fixing it back up, and swapping in a V8 (if i could have done it with out chopping up a pretty rare ride) Do you still have yours?
Thank you for that story. It was unfortunate you were a bit late on asking that neighbor of yours. They do come up for sale time to time here in Hawaii at least once a year so it shouldn't be too hard finding another. I ended up selling mine in 2017 for $1900 to a Starion enthusiast who was gonna swap out the turbo motor for a V6 out of a Mitsubishi Diamante. You should check out my series where I took it to a car show.
@@n0eLoL I will watch that video now actually. I really love those damn cars lol. That and the 911, but let's face it, I won't ever be able to buy a Porsche 911 that's not roached. So I figured I'd find a Conquest/Starion. Do you know if it's hard to find parts? PS, thanks for the response, I wasn't expecting it.
+Wafflebrah21 Thank you and Aloha from Hawaii! How do I not have more subscribers? I got the account years ago but didn't start putting anything worth watching until 2 months ago. 700 is pretty good I think :) Currently on pause atm due to job training.. will continue June 13th.
This review is gives me the same vibe the review Mr. Regular does. Nonetheless, excellent video and major props to the car as it is one color, I can't say the same about mine lol.
I remember my dad had one of these when I was a little boy. He said it was his favorite car up to this day. Now he's an old man and drives a Volvo XC40...lol. I'm close to pulling the trigger on a new type R, and when my dad tells me i'm an idiot I point back to this car.
My coworker had one of these in '91. He gave me a ride home once. With his buddy in the passenger seat I had to wedge my long frame into the back seat. Everytime he hit a bump those rear tires sounded like a pair of basketballs. Bong! Bong! I would have still given my left nut to own it.
You have so many cars and too little video content! Wait you also have a Celica? Please make more videos. I love this channel and all the awesome Toyota goodness! Cheers.
+Evan93 first off thank you. Yes I know, I have quite a bit of cars and very little content but that's because I just started a couple of months ago. I'll try to get a video for all my cars but at the moment I'm tied up with some training at work. I'll be able to make more videos starting mid June. Hopefully I can at least crank out 1 a week.
those cars are notorious for burning up turbo bearings you need to let it warm up for 5 minutes after you start it and let it cool off for 5 minutes before you shut it off .
Ps.. that color was actually offered from the factory. Not many were produced. Most popular were silver, red, black, white. Another rare color also offered from the factory was yellow...which was even rarer than the blue.
It was also a superbly more affordable sporty GT performance alternative to the Porsche 944 - kinda like the Porsche 918 vs Acura NSX "rivalry" of 2017.
No cupholder. No kidding. I had an '87 Conquest TSi and an '87 Turbo Regal & neither of them had cup holders. Had to buy the plastic add on cup holders from the auto parts stores (the ones that hung on the inside of the window molding). Life hacks.
There's nothing Chrysler about it. Its a Mitsubishi Starion what has Conquest "badges", more like fancy stickers. It even says "Imported for Chrysler" on the wing.
Dank Memes kid you know nothing. Learn something before you open your mouth because you look like a idiot. Would motor would you stick in it a old ford flat head motor. Kid youll be all right just get off the drugs and you will be all right.
Inspector Gadget did drive an SQ, but a flatty. Along with Jackie Chan in Cannonball Run II. Love my two '87 TSi's. Those wheels are special SHP's, as stockers are 7 in the front and 8 in the rear. Too bad you got an auto. A 5-speed swap is fairly straight forward. Cool vid, man.
+Russell Loyd Thank you! "flatty" is that the term for the non wide-body? I was looking into a 5 speed conversion and from ... at least what I read... needed a whole donor car?
+n0eLoL You would need a lot for a 5-speed conversion, plus you'd have to modify the trans tunnel some. You'd need the transmission, pedals, clutch and pressure plate, flywheel, mount and cross-member, drive shaft, slave and master cylinders and lines, cts (I think), and a big hammer. Yes, we call the flat-siders (ES, Technica, 85.5 intercooled) flatties. You may want to pull the accordion pipe going from the air can to the compressor inlet and count blades on the inducer wheel. Factory turbo is a 12a, but there was an dealer option for a 14g. Factory boost on an '88/'89 is 10psi. if you're only running 7.5psi ('87 on down) check to see if you have an '87 waste gate actuator on there or an '89. One port or three ports. The SQ is an oddball and my favorite car. Properly built it is a torque monster. Done right 350hp will net you around 450ft.lbs First things first, after everything is running tip top, is a manual boost controller set at 15psi, a Walbro 255lph pump, hard pipes, bov, and a 2.5" or 3" turbo-back exhaust. lol Color is called Fiji Blue. Nice find, man.
+n0eLoL Lemme know if you need any online help as I've built about a dozen of these cars over the past twelve years. Don't sell it, keep it and enjoy it.
Russell Loyd Will do and thank you. I'd like to keep it but like I said I got too many projects already. I will get it in the best shape as possible for the next owner though!
Noelol.....I own an 87.......go MPI, eliminate Balance shafts, check the head for cracks, or get a Marnal head, Wiseco pistons, get bigger fuel pump and injectors, get a Megasquirt ECU, and you will be very happy with that motor.....I guarantee you.
sounds good and I totally would modify the Conquest but unfortunately I already have too much on my plate at this time. With the 86 Corolla, my MR2 and my 77 Celica I have my hands full for a long time.
glad you enjoyed it! Yes I still do have the car and currently working on a 5 or 6 part mini series build for it. Yes unfortunately I still am considering selling it.
its a Conquest . saw some people call it a Starion lol It even says Conquest on the car itself, plus us old schoolers were around when these were hot so we know what they are.
I like this car (except is automatic) I had an '85 with a manual. I liked the interior, seats. When I bought it, it had some issues : A/C didn't work (it was fixed), radio didn't work (also was fixed) I replaced all the speakers. I didn't replaced the radio because it had that 80's look and I liked it. You could make the engine swap to a 4G63T and it would be nice.
I sold her almost 2 years ago to surprisingly a Station/Conquest enthusiast who's owned multiple StarQuest in his time. If you're interested in more Starion content I also have a 6 part mini series where I prep it for a car show.
You are better off with the automatic . I use to be a Mitsubishi mechanic . I have changed plenty of clutches back in those years! Only major problem on those cars were the exhaust leak from exhaust manifold to the engine head.
Hi, I'm from the Dominican Republic and I'm starting to see your videos. I am interested in buying a misubishi starion with engine of Toyota Altza 2004 in automatic. Could you tell me if it's a good idea? Another thing, the car is missing the bottom of the front bomber could you recommend a website that can buy it and bring it to my country
I had a yellow 89 TSI with the SHP, still miss that car.The auto trans has a reputation for being junk in this car. mine started loosing gears at only 55k miles. That's why I let it go. the lack of a shift lock was normal on these, not secure, shame on Mits for that. The engines have their weak points well documented on the Internet. The biggest one is the heads cracking between the jet valves.
hahaha!!! that ending was unexpected. daym..... But please restore it back to mint stock. f&^* id buy that. not for a dollar :D it is such an 80s icon.
Wait, what,... Swap the Torque convertor to get rid of Tran slip? Who's been feeding you that sheeeeeeet.?? Drop the pan, toss the old filter, adjust the Bands, fit new filter, refit pan, add new oil. If it still slips, it need the bands and or clutch packs replaced. Torque Convertors 'slip' below the stall speed. Or only in Overdrive if they have lock-up.
+MrK133n LOL not sure if you follow my IG but the MR2 decided to not wanna run anymore. Haven't diagnosed the problem yet but hopefully it's an easy fix.
why intentionally mistakingly call it a Starion It is what it is ......a Chrystler Conquest Tsi .......... The S's in this video are peircing at times. had to turn my analog EQ high frequencies down slightly, but all good. - Thats a hell of aNice car. In its Day, it was Fast & luxury . I test drove one in 1989 Tested it in vaious performance ways and I was Impressed, especially the breaking & the Turbo. & Comfort driving.

Literally my dream car
Cool stuff mate, it's great to see all the 80's dream cars being kept alive. That Starquest looks fun.
Stoked you have an MR2 as well! I had 2 SCs years ago. Toyota for life!
thanks man! Yeah 80s boxy wedge pop up headlight cars are so freaking awesome. Toyota for life indeed :)
Finally someone with good taste in songs !

+1 for the kung fury soundtrack. bad ass car bro
Such a sweet ride man! Good find man!
+Jellyfishjuices thanks! good find indeed, rare cars on the island.
Wow, funny but serious..great looking car wish I had it.. lol.
Well put together video
Ah, one of those base auto repair shops. Haven't been to one in a lifetime.
I like your sense of humor, I feel like you'd be chill to hang out with. Haha

holy shit, pain for pleasure! i wasn't expecting that.
Yes that's exactly what he would of drove in the wonderful wonderful 80s
Hey man loved the review can't wait to watch more of your vids and see updates about this. you've got a sub
Haha nice find keep up the good work. Would love to see more of your other cars as well
+TheG4m3r123 that's the plan! Just need some of them to run
+n0eLoL alright sounds good
LOVE IT! in no time you will have over a 1000 subs keep up the good work
Damn.. you got a nice day of cars man....
All time favorite. Friend had clean white one.
Love it, super entertaining!
+Jon Widmer thank you!
Awesome car
I forgot to mention that HKS made most of the performance parts back then for these cars.
Wait what? Could it be? Well I'll be damned! LOL
The black celica looks AMAZING.
+Tom Maisey thanks! that's my forever project
Thatdudeinblue reviewed the car. check it out

I did not, I ended up having a buddy of mine make a new key

That is one sexy car, I hope it finds a good home. I've never seen one over where I'm at, mostly just SAABS and Subaru's.
Hi n0eLoL, I love your channel and your car (the wheels are awesome)!!!!!
Thanks Adam!
I remember my dad had one of these when I was a little boy. He said it was his favorite car up to this day.
Now he's an old man and drives a Volvo XC40...lol. I'm close to pulling the trigger on a new type R, and when my dad tells me i'm an idiot I point back to this car.
Life's too short to own boring cars
My coworker had one of these in '91. He gave me a ride home once. With his buddy in the passenger seat I had to wedge my long frame into the back seat. Everytime he hit a bump those rear tires sounded like a pair of basketballs. Bong! Bong! I would have still given my left nut to own it.
cool cars, wish they had rack n pinion though. I agree that those back seats are way too tight for anyone taller than 5'10
my dad use to own a brown conquest when i was just a few years old , unfortunately the engine blew and he sold it a few years back .

no way.. the DOME zero is waaayyy waaayyy too crazy looking

That celica at 5:20 looks so super cool
"fuck! the Cressida, shit" lol
+john blewitt totally forgot to bleep out that shit part :/
lol my 2nd Conquest was a left behind military car too
shocks not sure but the wheels were offset in TSI Conquest
So would you take it to Mitsubishi or Chrysler for parts or repairs (not that you'd want to be screwed over by the dealers)?
I don't think either of the companies would take the car lol
Mitsubishi dealers actually still do servicing/repairs on them in Europe. Not that it helps you, just figured I would share :P
Now I see you were selling it and I'm 4 years too late. haha
It was also a superbly more affordable sporty GT performance alternative to the Porsche 944 - kinda like the Porsche 918 vs Acura NSX "rivalry" of 2017.
Subbed to watch your ae86 build but I love the other videos you post

I'll stick the G54B in my 88 conquest keyboard warrior.
Had an 89 in Black with tan leather interior.
wait what exactly are those things at the end? They say exit on them
from what I was told, it's a quick release for the auto seat belts in case of emergency.

glad you enjoyed it! Yes I still do have the car and currently working on a 5 or 6 part mini series build for it. Yes unfortunately I still am considering selling it.
n0eLoL shoot me a message when you decide to - if it's at all feasible, I'd definitely be interested.

I sold her almost 2 years ago to surprisingly a Station/Conquest enthusiast who's owned multiple StarQuest in his time. If you're interested in more Starion content I also have a 6 part mini series where I prep it for a car show.
Yeah man, we’d (enthusiasts) love to see that.
I would never buy Chryslers junk but I would consider one of these
More Mitsubishi than Chrysler :)
Yeah the automatic is a real bummer. Cool vid thou.
These came in autos?
I want it!
fix it up.. looks good
The motor is g54b...just saying 88 and 89 was 10 psi
hey I got a shout out!
You are better off with the automatic . I use to be a Mitsubishi mechanic . I have changed plenty of clutches back in those years! Only major problem on those cars were the exhaust leak from exhaust manifold to the engine head.

Hey why these cars never increase in value like Toyota Supra?? Also ever get rear wheels to lock after leaving it sit for a long time??
I went to that auction as well and bidded on this car this lucky fakah
Do you still have this car?
yes I do, actually putting together a work log for it as we speak.
I want a 1982 model
is that mr2 supercharged ?
+Kapil Patel 3sgte swapped :)
hahaha!!! that ending was unexpected. daym..... But please restore it back to mint stock. f&^* id buy that. not for a dollar :D it is such an 80s icon.
It's a G54B
do you still have the celica?
Mitsubishi Starion
Wait, what,... Swap the Torque convertor to get rid of Tran slip?
Who's been feeding you that sheeeeeeet.??
Drop the pan, toss the old filter, adjust the Bands, fit new filter, refit pan, add new oil.
If it still slips, it need the bands and or clutch packs replaced.
Torque Convertors 'slip' below the stall speed.
Or only in Overdrive if they have lock-up.
You end up selling it?
Yup.. summer of 2017 to surprisingly someone that specializes in them for 1900 bucks
Mine would push 12 pounds or more of boost you need a tune up
Awesome ride. Doesn't compare to the Toyota Supra, but still love it
Prepare to cut the frame if your gonna LS swap it
Do you have instagram? This channel is awesome
yep, its n0eLoL
Do you want to sale it?
yes, probably next year.
Well!!! keep me in mind Serious buyer
I'm located in Hawaii. To ship to the main land alone would cost $1200.

why intentionally mistakingly call it a Starion It is what it is ......a Chrystler Conquest Tsi ..........
