I’ve actually got an engineering degree and I switched to working as a software engineer and now I’m trying to decide if this is the kind of work I want to specialize in, or if I’d rather try out front end, data science, or even go back to more of an electrical engineering oriented job. This is what im doing incase someone is unsure what way they want to learn. My personal syllabus 1) Freecode camp and each 300 hours is $30. 2) TheOdinproject completing all the paths. 3)codemy and other pay to learn sites. Im creating a payscale to reward myself. Im doing this for web dev on platforms, pentesting, and robotics(as a hobby). I plan on building a web page as a resume that's interactive and multi-layered. Im already starting the site as im moving through the css course on FCC. I have saved tutorial for building various robotic projects and hack this site is going to be a playground once im at that level of python and other languages.
I started to really learn to code using JavaScript in Freecodecamp . It was an easier language and path for me. What I really struggle with is taking the next step and learning libraries and front end frameworks like react and angular.

@@JeremiahPeoples Started with Basic language on the color computer and Apple then in college C on Unix which led to my first job coding C with embedded SQL on Unix then C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, PHP and now mostly the MERN stack.

Great choice I went frontend --> fullstack --> frontend. JS is a great starting place. If you're SUPER aggressive in your learning you could do it in 4-5 months. But realistically you're looking at 7-12 months to land your first job
Is that working full time? I'm trying to study in the evenings after working a physical job and being a single mum. I think I'm going to be ancient by the time I know enough to apply for a job! 🤣

I self taught myself as a young teen back in the 80's. Taught myself the wrong way though and fixed it in college.
