Sometimes people will hide their true opinions/interests, etc. The lake could be an analogy of drowning and hiding that part of you...but it's impossible to do that forever, just like how lakes never remain frozen all year...parts of yourself will reveal themselves eventually...and there is the pain of not being authentic, of not expressing your true self...sometimes when I do emotional processing work with clients they will have literal pain in their throat from things they never expressed or said.
