Foley is such a humble guy he probably didn't know how much Miles actually loved his music. Foley was definitely Miles' favorite rhythm guitar player but on Picolo bass.
At around 0:33: 'If its in time, it MIGHT work.' A small but profound nugget of musical insight. Thanks Foley. You could tell in this interview just how much he really, REALLY loved Miles. It's like having that favorite uncle that took you under his wing to teach you all sh!+ that your mother (his baby sister) DIDN'T want you to know...LOL!!! #respect
Man Foley is a deep dude. This may be the only interview about miles where the interviewee is not idolising miles, it's so special to hear about their friendship in an innocent way. I can really feel how Foley misses him, and how he fears missing George too, he really creates deep bonds with people, no doubt why Miles dug him Being that Miles and P-Funk are my two favorites this interview really creates some bridges which I never knew about, also in George's interview.
Man, Foley is a humble genius in his own right! He seems like he’d be a really cool dude just to kick it with…not even just on the music tip. He’s someone we need to hear more from. We’ve since and heard from so many of Miles’ collaborators from the ‘50, ‘60s, ‘70s and up to Marcus Miller. Foley was there for the CODA, a period that is criticized and misunderstood.
I have heard. Many. Bandmates of miles interviewed. They tell miles stories. They all do their miles imitation. Foley- you are the king of that. GOAT Miles impersonator. And a beautiful player- too. Ty. Great.
Great interview . Many of these stories show Miles as a Mentor to young musicians in the sense of how Dizzy and Bird schooled Miles. That's what kept Miles music so fresh.
Thank you so much, I've been looking so long for an interview with Foley, I'm a big fan of his work, I listen to his shows with miles every day. Thanks a lot for this video.
Love this guy, seen him many times with Miles. Like he said, I noticed often how Miles played a particular note for any of his musician play a solo.!! Like he did with Benny Rietvelt playing “Me and U” in Munich in 88, great base solo! I miss those years seeing all these amazing musicians live, as much they miss playing with Miles!
Wow, just..Wow Foley is an Amazing Artist & Musician I agree with everyone, He Definitely needs to do MORE Interviews !! This was GREAT...Thanks so much for posting you guys ! ❤
I love the hell out of Miles Davis. He’s one of my IDOLS. An all-time favorite. Foley was always a mystery to me. I’ve rarely seen any interview footage, or just footage of Foley by himself. A very brilliant musician- I mean, Piccolo bass with a whammy bar?!!! What the actual f&@k? That was a super-rare move, and I gotta hand it to Foley for bringing the brilliance to Miles’ late electric period. Legend!!!
Thank you for the comment. Foley really is an incredibly charismatic and talented dude. I've read that he does not have much of a presence online because he feels that there is no human connection. This was definitely one of my favorite interviews from the documentary.
Miles loved Foley, Miles loved and respected Foley's youthful spark that came out in his playing...Honesty. I heard Miles lament that he did not find Foley earlier, because Miles looked and listened to many guitar players to find the right feel and sound that Floey has.
Wow! This REALLY CHANGED MY opinion about this cat. Due to my ignorance, I never could understand what Miles saw in this cat, or what his contributions were. NOW… I understand! Lovely , deep cat!!
So good to see you, what a dominant in virtues. I just found out about the artist who screams on his horn to the birth of black market sales from a different world war, its incredible, find me we have ,ids , i have money for school and housing, some little priss stole it, look forward to seeing you with jimmy and others, your lady is missed, she calls me honkey, she was my virtuous lulliby on bad days
I met Foley in 1998. He was doing a Sound Check. I asked him about what was it like playing with Miles. He told me how He was Afraid on Stage All the Time.......
I thought after all of the years of being a fan that Foley was a gay man ( because of the way he use to drees ??? ) which was okay it took nothing away from my respect for him in my book as a person and definitely not as a musician. It's just funny how we can think that you know things that you have no idea of.

This is the most insightful honest interview I have seen in years. Foley is so real and beautiful. Thank you for sharing this.
Why doesn't Foley get interviewed more?
He's definitely a genius in my book.
As well as underated for actually helping Miles re-shape his music.

I'm a HUGE Miles Davis P-Funk Fan....
I met Foley back in 1998.

This is great.
So insightful , i really appreciate this.. thanks for sharing Foley!
So glad I saw this …….pure inspiration!!!!……. Lefuj👉🏽❤️☮️
Great interview. Foley provided a cerebral approach while keeping his brand of funk methodology in it.
He should write several books!!! I love The News guitarist as well, slow and poignant just like Miles!
Wish I could find more interviews and live clips of Foley.
Foley is my guy!
I met Foley in 1998.
He was doing a Sound Check.

Simply all a woman has to do I want one like that
👑👑👑
Loved this interview. I could listen to him talk all day. I wonder what she has him keep signing on that clipboard?
❤😊❤
Foley on Amandla- I can still hear those lines..
Notice his LEFT hand & her RIGHT hand AND what he says During @ 0:21- 0:30! 😎
did foley write "the senate"?
Drink Champs asked George about George 's multi - colored hair. George smiles and says, "I'm 80 years old"...
FOLEY!!! WHERE IS TK?
Is that a recent interview?
I wonder if he saw the Miles ahead movie starring Don Cheadle and if he thought that Miles would have liked it.
Oddly enough, this was research for Miles Ahead. This was shot 7 years before its release.
a George he is talkin' about here, is it G Clinton or?
Mathmaticly
