    I like the fact that the son enjoys working on trucks even during his time off, nothing better than do what you like and having the teacher to do it. You've done a great job.

    I've seen worse!! She actually looks pretty good, especially for sitting outside for so many years.
    8.3 is a damn good engine!!!
    Lots of articulated tractors and smaller trucks have proven them to last.
    Always fun getting stuck brakes broke lose!!!
    Runs like a champ!!!!
    Thanks for the video!!

    That jered is a good thinker. He found a decent old truck and got it runing. That old truck still has some life left it might need some attention. Every young farmer has a tinker toy of some kind weather it's a hot rod his truck or a old tractor. I like restoring old tractors. I bought a bigbud hn 250 and we rebuilt the motor and gave it some paint. The tractor is pushing 350 hp and works great on our 40 foot field cultivator. Keep up the good work jered . Nice video stay safe and farm on my friends !

I hope you end up salvaging this truck and using it for something useful like a service truck as has been mentioned. Stay safe and healthy! And keep up the hard work! Dan @6-4_Fab Glen Rock, PA

    My first semi was an L8000 with a 3208 and an automatic. I still have it. She’s a gutless wonder but faithful as the day is long. Mine used to be a Pepsi truck in the city so it’s geared pretty low. 65 is the end of the world for it. She will pull any stump, though.

    I bought a 93 9000 a couple years ago that had been sitting for 10 years. I changed all the filters and oil. I put in new batteries and cranked about 20 seconds and she fired right up. Ran for about 20 seconds and would die. Called a diesel mechanic buddy and he said check the coolant level. The radiator was drained. I filled it up and off she went. It has a Detroit 60 series that sounds good. Not bad for $1500 .

    Those paper wasps, I see a few nice white eggs in there, you need to get them out of the cab and squish them😎😁
    Good to see you didn't get a quart of water out before the oil!!
    I've got a tandem axle that's been sitting for a few years, no one wants to buy it, so... I think we are going to be putting a spreader box on it. Will make hauling manure out in the summer a lot nicer!! No tractors available then...

    I'd like to see tires like the ones in the green trailer nearby under this truck ;-) The thing I love about old Diesels is how simple they are, and easy to get running. Diesels are more efficient, but since the fuel costs more, I don't know how much difference there would be as far as operating expenses. It did sound great, Diesels usually do!

    • @darrellroeters4951
      @darrellroeters4951 4 года назад

      Still don't understand why diesel fuel is more it's processed less than gas.

    • @markeholbrook
      @markeholbrook 3 года назад

      @@darrellroeters4951 Demand for diesel is getting high, lots of diesel pickups around now.

    • @darrellroeters4951
      @darrellroeters4951 3 года назад

      Mark Holbrook still didn’t get it that’s supply and demand, not my point of it’s refined less than gas.

    • @markeholbrook
      @markeholbrook 3 года назад +2

      @@darrellroeters4951 Yeah it's less refined, lasts for a very long time, has more energy than gasoline, much less flammable, all around a better fuel. But the reason it's more expensive is there is high demand right now, and oil companies know how to use that to their advantage.
      Another reason it maybe more than gasoline prices is road taxes. Heavy trucks damage roadways, and they burn diesel, so there may be higher road taxes on it.

    We have a 1992 Ford LNT8000 at the San Antonio Railroad Heritage Museum in Elmendorf Texas.Ours was a Air Force semi truck from Colorado and is dark blue,it says "L8000" on the hood like they all did but the entire encyclopedia of information is on the builder's chart in the driver's door.This truck has the "Ford Diesel" badge on it too,so I assume it had the Ford 6.6L or 7.8L,but this one has the Cummins 12V 6CT in it,and I've heard about that the military rebuilt some of these trucks with those or the 12V 6BT.We just need to put air brake chambers on it as far as I'm concerned and it has a 10 SPD in it.
