Bass Pro sold me the Lowrance Hook 2 TS9 in October 2019 when I purchased a 24' Fishing Barge. They never mentioned the Hook Reveal Line. What are the differences between the two products? I just discovered a tutorial on Hook 2 for overlaying the sonar with fish ID activated which seems to do the same as the Reveal series, is this true?
How hard would it have been for them to add maps for a GPS view of the lakes and rivers. I know it's not a true chart plotter but an a basic map overview wouldn't have been too much to ask for.
Well thats the primary difference between X series and the non X is the mapping. They sell the X series as a budget model for a lot less for that very reason.
I have the Hook2 5x GPS plotter. I have not been able to record and see a trail. I would like it to show a line on the screen as I move along. I have learned a lot with your videos but haven’t found this specific item addressed. Can you offer any assistance? Thanks
@@nightanddaymarine8823 i am having the same problem i went into settings went into trails turned it on still can't get a trail as I'm moving along ?? I'm ready to through it in the ocean
@@sergeevangelista7250 have you ever had trails? Also make sure you go into the WRT menu and make sure u have started a new trail and are not running on an existing maxed out trail.
Which Lowrance unit would you recommend for use with my MinnKota Terrova with US2? Looking to upgrade my old Elite 5. Always look forward to your videos.
I guess it just depends on what your planning to do with it. The Elite FS is a really nice display. Tho if you want something you can run a lot of other equipment off of like radars and such then the HDS Live is the way to go.
@@nightanddaymarine8823 I would just want navigation and 2D sonar on the bow unit. As I understand it, side or downscan isn't possible with the US2 anyway, so just looking for a basic, solid unit. How about the Hook ? Thanks for your help, Ryan.
@@Moondog9322 the hook7 reveal is a nice unit for that. Tho I'm not sure which adaptor you will need to go from the US2 to the Hook connector. I'm sure they make a blue to hook adaptor
@@nightanddaymarine8823 Thanks. I’ll need to check the type of connection to the back of the unit too. Definitely want a twist lock. My current unit doesn’t have twist lock and it loses signal sometimes. I glued it in place
I just watched a video from Lowrance from 2 years ago and the rep says that they updated the "x" model units and that they now have an SD card slot and you can make your own maps with the Genesis live function
@@jeffreypuckett9470 now keep in mind there are no actual maps on the X displays. Just the maps you create with your sonar and the genesis live feature. But no built in maps and you can't add pre made mapping cards either.
@@jeffreypuckett9470exactly. I just bought the reveal, does the genesis live work well for you? I don’t need 4,000 maps of the US when I’d probably only fish 1 popular lake, the rest are like you said
To be honest the GPS is pretty much useless on the Hook2 since the unit does not allow maps or logging. It was just a feature Lowrance put in last second purely for marketing.
You can create custom mapping using your sonar and an SD card. It creates mapping as you drive your boat around. However you cannot purchase maps for it and install them.

Try pressing your power button, then select Settings. Then go to GPS and see if your trails option is selected.
Same here. Except I have the 4x GPS Plotter.

So, the HOOK2 doesn't let you map a true route just by entering the beginning and destination waypoints?

However, the Elite FS will require an additional 7 to 9 pin adaptor to be used with the MKR US2 10.

so there is absolutely no way to get any sort of mapping on the X models? I have the hook reveal 7x tripleshot

Should just press the pages button until the white GPS screen shows up.

@@nightanddaymarine8823 turns out, I was sent the model without GPS, but of course billed for the GPS model.
Basically, the “GPS” on this unit is bullshit. I’ll just use my phone, at least I have a damn map
Ya it just basically gives you the ability to leave a trail or set some waypoints so you can find you way back. That's about it really.
