- We chat with TVB stars Benjamin Yuen and Eliza Sam at TVB Australia Carnival. As special guests at this annual event, TVB stars Benjamin Yuen and Eliza Sam speaks to our editor Johnny Au about their TVB careers so far and their impressions of Sydney. Benjamin talks about his award winning role as Mak Hang-cik in The Fixer and his latest drama A Fist Within Four Walls. I think it's fine not able to speak English well. He is a very good actor! and I think with Chinese he is able to express more in depth.

It is normal because he was born and grew up in HK. English is not his first language. I think he can speak English, but does not have confidence speaking Eng to the public.
The guy speajing to them is chinese but speaks english like tjhem, i speak cantonese amd english, i live in Au for so long and thab these artists from tvb i watch evedy night, her english is awesome, easy to understand hk people

Jen L Cantonese / Chinese is not her first language. She grew up in Canada.
I actually find her Cantonese better than her English lol. She's got an accent when she speaks Cantonese but it's more fluent than her English. Probably Cantonese/ Hokkien is her mother tongue given her parents are Chinese Vietnamese. Just that she didn't learn how to read and write Chinese at school.
MrTsiqsin to be honest, I don't find her English native-like. It’s good, fluent and accent-free but it's similar to those who study at international schools in HK. Some of her usage and collocation contains mistakes of ESL speakers so for sure she’s not native, probably EPL at best. Besides, she's only second-generation immigrant. Her parents are Chinese Vietnamese with ancestral roots in Guangzhou and Fujian so it's very likely that they converse in Cantonese/ Hokkien/ Vietnamese at home. So English is not her mother tongue. It's not an acquired language but a learnt one for her.
