This is why we people come to the good ol internet. A dude with a jawline in a ballcap and a guy with a beard talking about a new Barbie movie. You can't get this kinda entertainment anywhere else. This is where the quality is folks.
i'm fucking sobbing with laughter at the image of these guys walking into this fucking showing dressed like how they are with a big smile present on both of their faces
Two days ago Brad posted a Cinema Snob episode of the Argentinean E.T I was like: JESUS CHRIST HOW MANY E.T MOVIES ARE THERE? Brad hasn't stopped surprising me yet.
"So it turns out there's a problem in the galaxy; the stars have stopped dancing" This is the most beautiful sentence ever uttered by a bearded 30 something
I just watched your Midnight Screenings episode of Barbie: Starlight Adventure, and at the end of it, you said that if you HAVE to see this thing, wait until it shows up on Freeform or something. Literally right after I watched that video, I was channel surfing, and found Barbie: Starlight Adventure was playing on Nickelodeon.
So Barbie is in a Mass Effect/Avatar crossover where she's a Jedi with Star Trek music? Guess they wanted to do a sci fi movie tribute but couldn't decide so they did them all. Still you'd think Barbie would be Barberella.
So I'm sitting in my room at 2am, being a 16yo full metalhead rasta stoner dude, painting my nails black, cause I wanted to, next to me my old ass plush bear, i'm in my Barney Stinson like pijamas, watching two grown ass men talking about a Barbie movie, that they saw alone in a giant ass theater, in their car at about noon and I'm thinking about why am I painting my nails but then I realise that I don't even care anymore so I wrote it down and now... Imma go to sleep. kek
+29AndreG I just recently got back from a trip to Québec with my mom and dad and two relatives and is now watching Brad Jones and Brian talk about a screened in cinema Barbie movie. Then again this is coming from me, the same person who watched the Review Spot do reviews on a Monster High and Ever After High doll respectively.
The first five minutes of this had me in tears of laughter; I could just picture the reactions of the people around them. Cudos to you guys; I probably would have made up an excuse somewhere among the lines of a lost drunk bet. Seriously, I think this movie is confused; perhaps a little too much stardust in the making? Still, this review just made my day^^
Playing Borderlands while listening to the review, and when I heard "This movie pretty much takes place on Pandora," I just slowly turned my head towards the video. Then I heard "from Avatar," and I'm like whew.
As the father of a rather girly third grader, I can say this is probably the best of the Barbie movies not part of the Life in the Dreamhouse universe (which is genuinely funny).
"I set my alarm... I woke up... my cats judged me." Hey, that's how my morning goes too! Seriously... this made my day. Heck, it made my week. If I ever want to see a Barbie film where Barbie has Carrie's psychic powers, I know what to watch!
I had no idea this was ever screened in theaters, all Barbie films have always been released direct to DVD, a lot of the time to be given away together with the toys.
I work at a movie theater, and we're actually told to keep an eye out when adult men come in alone to see kid's movies. For, you know, understandable reasons.
Hell, if both of you came to see the movie at the theatre I'm working at, I would've given the same look as the guy at the box-office who gave you the tickets.
I remember going to the theaters to see Speed Racer. No one wanted to go with me but I said fuck it I'm going to see this movie, it's Wachowskis, like the Matrix, it has to be good. I get there on my bike get my ticket and go into the SMALLEST movie theater room I've ever seen. I had no idea my theater even had this room. And I was the only one who showed up. God I swear several times throughout the movie I wanted to walk out. God I'll never forget that.
To all the people asking "is Barbie even a thing anymore," let me just say that I've been a Barbie movie fan since I was a kid and am now a grown woman and still a proud fan of Barbie. One of my personal inspirations.
This is brilliant!! I've actually followed Barbie movies for a while and have never missed one, but this...I love it xD and it's so true I can barely contain my laughter.
Between going to the theatrical viewings of this and the oogieloves movie and your cinematic reviews of pornography I gotta ask; just how many government watch lists are you on Brad?
I never thought there'd be Ret Cons in Midnight Screenings, but Brad did it when he mentioned HIM buying tickets to Mr. Poppers Penguins rather than him buying tickets for a douchey back stabbing snake in the grass who shall not be named.
10 Minutes in, I'm like are we going to talk about the movie? I mean I was really enjoying the setup, and then I realized we hadn't talked about the movie yet.
So, I went to the IMDB page to see if Mainframe Entertainment (ReBoot, Beast Wars) still did the animation and if Kelly Sheridan (Sango in InuYasha) was still Barbie. I couldn't find which studio did the animation, but Barbie is now played by Erica Lindbeck (Eli Ayase in Love Live, Yuki in Aldonoah Zero, Taliya in League of Legends). Other actors in this film: - Robbie Daymond (Tuxedo Mask in the Viz Sailor Moon dub, Mumen Rider in One Punch Man) - Sarah Anne Williams (Santamu in Street Fighter V, Tifa in Final Fantasy 7 Machinabridged) - Dwight Schultz (Howlin' Mad Murdock in The A-Team, Dr. Animo in Ben 10) - Lauren Post (Ragyo from Kill la Kill, Nozomi from Love Live) - Lucien Dodge (Zoicite in Viz's Sailor Moon dub, Blue in Pokemon Origins) EDIT: Found the animation studio, I think. It's from a company called Arc Animation and Visual Effects. This is their first and only credit on IMDB. Also, this was a special sneak peek! It comes out on DVD in early September! You got to see it before everybody else, Brad!
You got to wonder what the employees at that theater are thinking by now about the kind of guy Brad has to be based on the movies he watches. I'm betting at least one of them has been tempted to contact the FBI.
"Barbie Starlight Express"? That'd be one weird crossover. (I haven't even watched that musical but I know of it. Seems cool. Wikipedia claims that my ninga Harold Faltermeyer worked on it.)
I can’t find any more specifics but apparently the worldwide box office earned $393,195 so I would have to imagine that they made at least a $392,095 profit
Nearly 42 minutes of grown men talking about a Barbie movie. I really shouldn't be as excited about this as I am.
That sounds really creepy out of context LOL
+The Gift Of Jericho in a world of people interested in children's series, why is this any creepier than girls that like the transformer movies ?
+James of Menifee
Mostly because "Transformers" wasn't aimed at super young children, like "Oogieloves" or "Barbie: Starlight Adventure".
I know right, I too was furiously masturbating while watching this video.
+IAmTheInternets A sick part of me wonders if there are Barbie Porn spoofs out there...
"Ghostbusters is now for girls, Barbie is for MEN"
Fuck I needed that gut laugh.
Very relevant as of 2023. Brad and Brian were ahead of their time.
"I set my alarm, I woke up, my cats judged me." God I love Brad.
The reactions from the employees are worth the price of admission.
I had a similar experience with a movie in 1995 😐
This is why we people come to the good ol internet. A dude with a jawline in a ballcap and a guy with a beard talking about a new Barbie movie. You can't get this kinda entertainment anywhere else. This is where the quality is folks.
How do the employees at the local theaters not know Brad by sight at this point?
That's what I was thinking. You'd think they'd have a photo on the wall with a note that says "This man is not joking."
must have a revolving door of employees
In fairness, they don't usually watch movies in the morning
Yeah probably the rotating employees.
+Cameron Clophus
Can confirm. Used to work in a theater and one of my supervisors said there's a 90% turnover rate each year.
That child at the beginning probably went home to her mom and asked her why two grown men wanted to see a barbie movie.
i'm fucking sobbing with laughter at the image of these guys walking into this fucking showing dressed like how they are with a big smile present on both of their faces
Box office revenue: $25.00
Midnight Screenings can't surprise me anymore *see's the title* well damn....
I think it's safe to assume that Brad Jones will never cease to surprise us...
If that day ever comes, it'll be a sad one.

Brad hasn't stopped surprising me yet.
That story about just getting into the theater and sitting down was absolutely fantastic. Probably the best thing ever uttered on the entire website.
He sounds so genuinely disgusted with Barbie's character when he says "disRUPTing the butterflies".
>sees new midnight screenings
me: oh I'll watch this later when I have -
>sees the movie
>drops everything and clicks link
Two years later, and I still watch this occasionally when I need a good laugh.
So do I
Am still coming back here
6 years and I'm still quoting "I woke up, my cats judged me"
7 years later, and there's a PG-13 Barbie film with a $100 million budget. Strange timeline.
@@timdouglass825 "I went to see the Barbie movie."

Same.

So Barbie is in a Mass Effect/Avatar crossover where she's a Jedi with Star Trek music? Guess they wanted to do a sci fi movie tribute but couldn't decide so they did them all. Still you'd think Barbie would be Barberella.
not with an g rating..

Katie Baily there's no mother.... she's born from midichlorians and gonna become Darth Vader
Barbie vs The Predator
Katie Baily it has no evil King or anything else so fuck this movie
the brad and brian duo have to be my favorite as far as midnight screenings go
I love how the first 10 minutes was just the set up to watching the movie
You guys originated the "tickets for Barbie" meme

I clicked this video so fast. If you're going to sit through a Barbie movie in a theater, I sure as hell am going to watch the review.
A review for a 1 time showing that you can’t go to. 🤷🏻♂️ okay.
Am I the only one who saw this on their subscription box and went, "What?!"
I was like that as well
i didn't say "what?!" until i saw the 42 min run time.
I said that

Dog Fucker 5
+DontMindMeNow That's for Phelous to review... whatever.
+DontMindMeNow Don't say that. You'll make Phelous want to take another shower.
Turkish A Serbian Film
This needs to be a Snob episode.
I think that's more Phelous or Lupa's jurisdiction.
But if Brad considers Ooogieloves and Fun in Ballonland his jurisdiction he might Snob this one.
I think Brad has given up on jurisdiction. He just reviews whatever he wants by now.
And good for him!
+Aussie Nerd See Oogieloves.

No movies like War Room and God's Not Dead are exploitation movies.
I would love to meet that girl down the road and find out how much of a mindfuck watching two grown men go to see Barbie was for her. XD
James Pocelinko ditto 😂
I couldn't stop laughing when I saw the title. 😂
i'm almost half an hour in and i still can't stop laughing
Same. I laughed even harder when I realized that it was nearly 45 minutes long.
I thought they were kidding 😂

Less Embarrasing.
Yes.

I'm surprised it didn't happen ,hen the live-action Barbie movie came out.
When the My Little Pony Movie comes out next year, I bet many little girls will be terrified upon seeing a lot of adult men going to watch it.

The first ten minutes of this video is comedy gold.
With the crickets getting louder in the background, I was expecting a serial killer sneaking up on Brad and Brian.
This is a momentous occasion. I haven't seen a title this promising since Oggieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure.
