  • Video of our backpacking trip to Toleak Point on the Olympic Coast Trail. The Olympic Coast Trail was one of the major highlights of our trip, avoiding high tides and way too many climbs to count. I hope to get back and hike the entire Olympic Coast sometimme in the future.

Looks like you got real lucky with the weather there. This is similar to the coastline in parts of my area although somewhat drier mostly. If you ever get to Australia you must go to Wilson's Promontory. It's a massive chunk of granite mountains surrounded by the ocean & only connected to the mainland by a narrow neck of land. The whole lot if one of our oldest National Parks.

We were luck on the weather this entire trip. We even hiked up to Colchuk Lake in the snow. Got to the car and not even a minute later it started pouring rain. But we did the whole hike without a drop.

The Not Lost Nomad well, Washington was my wife’s idea so she did most of the planning. We went in from up north by La Push, down to Toleak Point to camp and out the same way. The part I saw was awesome. I’m thinking you can’t go wrong whatever way you choose. We stayed in Forks, did this hike, back to Forks and then over somewhere by Weminuche. Checked out Hoh Rainforest, Colchuck Lake, Diablo Lake, Marymere Falls and some other stuff while we were up there. Incredible trip. We want to go back and do the Wonderland (?) Trail around Mount Olympus someday. I’d go back in a heartbeat. Sorry I’m not more help on specifics.
If you’re checking out adventures, consider Buckskin Gulch from Wire Pass to Lee’s Ferry. Not close to Washington by any stretch, but if I had to rank my favorite trips, #1 is Kalalau Trail (currently closed due to flooding), then Buckskin, then our Washington trip.

@@JerryArizona awesome, thanks for the tips on Washington...Buckskin Gulch looks amazing for sure...We'll have to give that one a try in a year or two. the past two "big" hiking trips have been to Arizona so we'll probably give Washington a run just for a completely different scenery.
