Tom Hitter that air pressure vent requires a quick connect/release attachment, due to chamber not having a large volume tank. There appears to be just enough pressure added at factory and requires more air pressure if looking to operating pump continuous at higher pressures. I'm also of the opinion that there is some type of cluch device to switching the pump into a higher speed too, still going to contact Grundfos technical support for specific information.
Just got done installing this pump. I was also trying to figure out why the pump was starting and stopping, no where in the manual does it let you know what is going on with this pump. However, it does talk about an internal expansion tank. At first I thought this vent was to bleed air during pump prime. No water ever came out. I then got a air pump and added pressure back into this tank. I added pressure to achieve 80 PSIG. Now the pump is able to maintain a constant pressure at its highest set point without that constant starting and stopping issue. Hope this solves your problem.
There is a water leak that’s why the pump won’t stop. From my understanding the pump motor speed automatically adjust depending on the number of taps being used to maintain a constant pressure. Unlike those conventional booster pump . You should not install additional external pressure tank.
That is the exact problem that I have. My booster pump is installed in the dining hall, and it kept running and cutting off and running and cutting off constantly and I thought that it was backfilling the plumbing that we have hooked to it because we have several wells went together along with a 10,000 gallon reservoir, but in further research, I realized the two outlets on the face of the pump have checked valves, so that should not be the case and after reading your comment, I noticed that I had a toilet that had a bad flapper in the dining hall, and as soon as I fixed it the pump built pressure and stayed until I used water again. Great advice my friend.
For above 3.5bar u need to have at least some preshure at inlet ,according to manual thats why its doing that The pressure settings 4.5, 5.0 and 5.5 bar (65, 73 and 80 psi) require a minimum positive inlet pressure which is maximum 4 bar (58 psi) lower than the required outlet pressure. Example: If the required outlet pressure is 5 bar, the minimum inlet pressure must be 1 bar (14.5 psi).
Its mechanical problem with the pump from the sound of it. My scala 2 doesnt sound anything like this. That screeching is it because there is foreign body in the pump?
The MQ also had a built in tank and those kept running even at low flow. The Scala 2 is also supposed to do that and do it even better because it is variable speed. The Scala 2 is quieter while it is running steadily but the cycling when just one faucet is running undoes that benefit. I'm sure there is a fix.
The internal expansion tank is not large enough to handle hot water expansion of the hot water tank. Most building codes require at least a 2 gallon expansion tank.
Hi Tom, i wonder how good is this pump when it comes to low sound? from your video it looks a bit noisy but compared to regular pumps that are not designated as silent... how different do you think it is ?

Any chance you can show it a video i have the same problem thanks!

isn;t the leak indicator light be blinking?

1. replace the suction check valve
2. remove the external tank
3. squeak - most likely you will need to replace the seal under warranty

Hi. I have 3 of those scala2 water pump. 2 of them run nonstop even when I close the output pipe. It keeps running. What’s going wrong?
Mine too.. Is it normal?
With this pump you do not need that extra tank. that's why its short cycling.

Tom Hitter what is the pump set at. I am a Grundfos rep
Peter Makarichev hello. Are you still a Grundfos rep? I have a question about rebuilding the Scala 2

just had a plumber install mine and its real aggravating to hear it kick on and off, if you find a permanent solution let me know!
the pump has an internal pressure tank.
Ever resolve this problem?
Clean ur valves, and it works 100% again.

Thanks but I tried adding pressure to its internal bladder. just made it worse
each line is 2 Bar . the pump can produce up to 80psi boost from incoming pressure.
Let press a tank pressure 0.7х pressure in you line.

Se desenergizo por 2 meses aproximadamente.
@@sergioalberto1982 lee el manual, ahi sale un procedimiento previo para cuando están mucho tiempo sin uso. Verifica que no esté agripado el eje
