This is my first time seeing the kraken brand and set up so thank you for bringing light to me of this company. Looking forward for your installation video.
I’m glad to hear about the improvements. I’ve been eyeing their manifolds for a while, but a free used on would very much compliment the forged build I’m redoing since the person who built it last neglected to put a gasket on the oil pickup tube!
Even though we have never meet, you are one of the nicest people I have meet. You always reply to my silly questions and sell parts at a good price, with an amazing service/experience. Keep up the good work and I hope the new manifold keeps you breaking records everywhere!
Thank you Carl. You are too kind. Lots of people form opinions of others without even knowing them, plenty of people will hate me even though they've never met me, just because I make some youtube videos doesn't mean I'm not just another normal person you meet on the street or at a car meet. Appreciate you taking the time to comment, it helps make this worth the time and effort :-)
In the process of turboing a Roadster with this very setup. It's tight, the coolant return / mixer pipe needs modifying (a replacement bottom hose is supplied) and the power steering line going back to the reservoir also needs modding as in my case it rubs against the Garrett. The downpipe (dump) fouls part of the gearbox, (more modifying) and bolting it all up looks like it will be fun. That said, the fit and finish is superb and Kraken responded to an email with some questions quickly. I look forward to seeing you fit yours
I'm fairly confident it will fit a bit more comfortably on my car given I don't have AC or power steering, and my water neck has already been modified for my setup. Going to make it all much easier than a more traditional "street car engine bay" that's for sure.
@@Bbeavis Latest issue for me (you won't get this having de-powered) is the hardline for the high presssure power steering hose is making it almost impossible to route the intercooler piping. Looking to get a custom hose made up, it'd be so much easier to de-power the rack (snigger) but this is a street car and I really do not fancy heavy steering. Onward and upward
When I installed my Kraken low mount the Vband from my exhaust landed dead center of the o2 bung on the downpipe. What luck lol. You will love the parts.
Great video Brendan! It will be interesting to see what kind of improvement in spool time you see as a result of the swap. That Kraken setup looks more tempting all the time!
Thanks mate. I imagine that the actual difference will not be hugely noticeable to the driver, but probably would be measurable if you compared ECU data. :-)
Your engine bay looks so clean and cool Beavis. Nice vid. No plans for power yet, would do suspension first, but will keep this in mind. Please be proud of me Beav. I did a rotor, pad, and brake line swap on my Miata and it took me four days 😭😭 my first real job other than plugs and oil. I feel so accomplished having done that, taking her to the track Dec 5th
BEAV so sorry to spam you but I was browsing through car downloads in Assetto Corsa and I can't believe your NB beast is in here!! I can't wait to try her out. Just thought that was so cool, had to let you know. Peace brotha ✌️
@@Bbeavis A little late for that, don't you think? Started with NT01s and Advanti Storms, then your ol' Wilwood kit, deleted power steering and A/C, started stripping everything out like a madman, have the same seat by pure coincidence (first try didn't fit and the OMP was the shop's only alternative), and finally gave out and ordered a fastback-style top. The list goes on. Might as well add the turbo at this point...just sayin'
@@Bbeavis Hey actually I have a suuuuper random question for you _if_ you have time. No worries if you never do. You're a busy guy! What's your take on rear brakes for a track car? And how important is a parking brake? I've got aftermarket pads and rotors on the back, but still running OEM calipers so I can preserve my parking brake. However, one of them just blew and I'm hemorrhaging brake fluid everywhere so it's an opportunity to change direction. Should I try to rebuild/fix? Source another set of hopefully-not-too-awful 30-year-old OEM calipers? Or should I just bite the bullet, lose the parking brake, and move to a modern caliper (e.g., a Wilwood 4-piston, sport brake kit, etc.)? Some day I might try to make myself a hydro handbrake and dual-caliper rear for absolutely no reason (not into drifting), but until then I wouldn't have a handbrake :(
@@ohboyotero In my experience, most people drive in situations that don't strictly demand a larger rear brake setup. I run the OEM NB 'sport' brakes on the rear, Hawk pads and OEM rotors that don't wear out all that fast. If I had a rear caliper start to show signs of leaking, I'd simply grab a seal kit and rebuild it, they are generally available fairly easy and not that expensive. For me the only value of having the park brake is for times like when it's loaded on the trailer, or when doing some sort of maintenance in the shed that benefits from locking the wheels, such as changing a rear hub. It's a convenience I prefer to keep.
Goddamn gravity, if only we could do something about that! I want gravity only to apply to my tyres so I have ultimate grip. Also can you turn the wind down, the aero drag is slowing me down. :-D
Hadn't planned to do any dyno stuff, it's just so expensive.... but I probably should do, both to check it's running safe still and to see if there's an impact on performance.

Thank you for the video! What about loosening studs&nuts? I have top mount kraken garret gt2560r on my nb and I´ve been strugling with loosening the nuts and studs. Should this low mount inconel studs manifold solve that issue? Thank you!
Orientation of the turbo isn't going to solve that. It's basically a 3 pronged solution. You need Inconel studs (Kraken, FM, and KAI offer them), high temp thread locker (Resbond 907TS) when the stud inserts into the manifold, and mechanically locking nuts (Stage 8 brand or deformed thread style)
As Andrew suggested, for my setup I've run the Stage8 inconel studs and locking nuts and found they hold on fine. I'm not 100% sure if Krakens older high mount style manifold included inconel studs, I think perhaps it did. I believe the kicker is the locking tabs from Stage8 that make the real difference in preventing them backing out. Plus, resbond to keep the studs in the manifold (and turbo).
I don't recall exactly to be honest, it was a while ago, but postage only took a few days to a week at most. However they make their casting in batches so best reach out to Kraken and see what their current lead times are.
