      @allanhouston22Exactly. Yes the influencers are immoral but things like this are not supposed to be possible in a modern rich industrial nation like germany. We praise and put ourselves on a moral pedestal for having high moral standards and ideals but then let things like this happens while rich people enrich themselves even more often through taxpayer money! Easy loopholes like this that allow predatory companys to be completely unscathed while breaking the laws have to be fixed immediately!

      not only giving false hope of better life abroad, but also demonizing the life people already have in India. Showing India in bad light (what dhruv rathee does) and then marketing western lifestyle works as multiplier effect for indians to leave india.

      This is not just about Germany but most European countries including UK. Govt keeps telling everyone that they want Highly Skilled Individuals but Agriculture, Care workers and Construction is where Majority of Work Visas are issued. They don't need Doctors, Engineers or Computer Science Graduates, they need cheap labor.

The universities advertise high quality studies and career opportunities following graduation, yet international students find themselves excluded from jobs in their study fields and pushed into 0-hour flex "vikar" manual jobs. This whole thing is just a scam, to make young people come, pay rent in overpriced low quality housing, and pay taxes for the natives pensions doing the jobs the natives don't wanna do. On top of that, assuming that they came to Germany using student visa, there is a work hour limit of 20 hours per week, based on what they were surprised about the staggering living costs, how would they earn enough to be sustainable?

    2. Thorough research before moving
    3. Cultural sensitivity and DYI
    4. If you have opportunity in homeland, don't move.

      you clearly have no idea about the situation on the ground. German is not required for the majority of tech roles at international companies in Berlin; English is the working language (e.g. Google, Zalando, Wolt, Delivery Hero, Liferando, SumUp, N26, SoundCloud, GetYourGuide, Vinted etc)

      This 100%,the only thing i imagine is, that the study first argument might not apply to kost of them, due to cost of living in germany is so much higher than india, that those who come here cannot afford to study without having a job that fully supports them financially. But that calculation needs to be done beforehand, the internet is a wonderful thing - everything can be researched first. Don’t make decisions based on illusions and for some the study visa was just considered an entry ticket instead of seriously interested in studying

    Me and my partner has a small company in gaming industry with well revenue in Turkey. We have planned to relocate our business in Berlin Germany by establishin gmbh because we have been told that since our childhood Germany has better welfare system and more stable in terms of justice and human rights. It took more than 1 year to get our visa and we could only stay a week to get an idea what is real germany look like. Lawyers and consultants everywhere but nothing works correctly. We had been losing money to all beurocracy without any compelling market or atmosphere. We came back to Turkey immediately but it costs us more than 40k euros to have such experience. I think its a price we paid to see the truth behind the delusion. I wish the best for the hardworking people who left his or her hometown to create better future.

      It sounds like you got swept away by mental images, logically it makes little sense. The things you mentioned are important if you're living on welfare, and in need of low-cost assistance from the justice system because your human rights have been violated in some manner. Not a likely situation to come up soon for someone with means to pay 40k euros to lawyers.

      I am an American who lived in Turkey for almost 4 years. I can't even estimate the amount of young Turkish people I urged not to waste time, energy, and money learning German.
      The amount of marketing for Germany as an efficient, logical, fair place is nuts. Germany is a mess, and much of the native population is in huge denial about how bad it is.
      I worked with multiple companies that had operations in Europe and anything that touched Germany was always such a drag of dumb paperwork and taxes. Much of Europe is coasting on reputations from generations ago.

      @zimbu_ You’re right, from a logical standpoint it doesn’t make much sense. It’s a belief system lacks of reality that’s been around for a long time.

      Yeah, but companies like Uber have created a unique free labor system fueled by predatory algorithms and loopholes around the slave labor laws which enable them to pay nothing, no minimum wage. They're not obligated by law to pay a single penny, unlike perhaps some of the other casual jobs.

      Yes but the Indian people that end up in these situations are middle class in India, which means they never had a student job, never had any blue collar job in India, so they're clueless and it all comes as a big shock to them. In fact, delivery jobs in India are more exploitative and millions of Indian men are stuck in them for a lifetime.

    For those who are interested in coming to Germany:
    Choose a public university.
    Learn German up to B2 level-not just to get a certificate, but to be able to hold basic conversations so you can find better part-time jobs. While learning, watch German TV series and films back home.
    If you are pursuing a master’s degree, do an internship, even if it means taking an extra semester, to gain practical work experience. In Germany, it’s not about how fast you get your degree, but about how much hands-on experience you have.
    When looking for a job, never come without securing a position first. The Job Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) and similar options will mostly just drain your money
    Currently, its tough to find positions for highly skilled workers. It may or may not change. Nursing field is still promising.

    • @farseer_selna
      @farseer_selna Month ago

      B2 level German is literal low fluency (i.e fully independent, complex use of the language, and being able to fully engage in highly complex topics you hold in-depth knowledge in, it's literally technical fluency).
      Basic conversations is A2 level, B1 is competent independent but simple usage.

      The current administration in germany , like the one before it, keeps talking about attracting highly qualified talent while most of the graduates I know take anywhere from 3 months to a year with applications in the triple digits to land a job. Meanwhile the employers expect 3 years of work experience for an entry level job and entry level pay. My theory is that they think foreigners, especially from Asia, will do the same job for less pay.

    I am an immigrant myself, came here on a work visa and now I have a permanent residence permit. In my experience with Indian co-workers, most of them come to Germany on a student visa and then try to circumvent the laws and hope to find a way to stay longer and earn as if they're on a work visa. That's why it's very hard for them to find real jobs because employers won't risk breaking the law to employ them. This is where middle-men come into play as they do the shady things for the aforementioned companies.

    I'm confused. If they come to Germany with a student visa, why aren't they studying? A student working 12 hrs./day is not allowed under German labor law. This is a scam. These students should inform themselves of their labor rights. It's strange though, that they are concerned when the authorities check their status fearing that they might be deported. I mean, if you aren't doing something illegal, then you shouldn't worry. So I think, they are willing "victims".
    If their real intention of coming to Germany is to work, then they should learn the language at least to B2 level, look for an employer, then apply for a WORK visa. There's no backdoor.

      @quizzzz377 2 months ago +7

      @amribrahim7850Actually what you said works only for new graduates not those who do on ground work. Once you enter jobs and do work for 1 year you are no different from a foreign educated person. This blind hate against Indian education is the reason for over expectations on germany. I have seen many people know that foreign is bad they literally know but convince themselves with dreams telling themselves it is worth the risk. One other reason is those who succeed push their stories. Indians hear negativity everyday and the sudden gush of positivity pushes them. Let me tell you even if 90% of people fail statistically people still go abroad. Take rapes for example. They claim 90% aren't even reported but even if you do 10 times the rape count India would still be safer than other countries. But people's guilt and optics push them there.

    The same thing exists in Canada on an even much more massive scale. At least there, the so-called private universities are referred to as "degree mills", meaning that they don't really offer an education that is of value, but they are being used as loopholes for people to be able to get a visa, in the hope of later on getting a residency permit. The German universities where these students are enrolled should be evaluated very closely by the government. Only programs that require students to actually spend a considerable amount of time on site and that have a true academic value should be eligible for visas.

He was lucky his parents supported him wholeheartedly

      @erics2305 2 months ago +3

      I spoke with a couple of Indians in Canada and they told me that already back in India there is an entire industry that will advertise for people to go to Canada and help them set everything up. Also, often times it's Indians who will then rent out rooms to their compatriots or employ them. Especially if they take out a loan to make the trip, it's a big risk. Often times, it's not worth it, I assume.
      My impression was that both sides try to take advantage of each other. Some Canadians want to profit from people willing to work for low wages and the immigrants try to game the immigration system. One Indian told me that as soon as he gets Canadian citizenship, he wants to go to the UK.

    Work experience is paramount in the current job market around the world, especially in the age of AI where entry level roles are diminishing in almost every sector. This isn’t just unique to Europe or North America, but also applies to Asia. Anyone who thinks it’s easy to just migrate to another country and make it, is just kidding themselves. People resorting to labor jobs like food delivery are just taking the easy (and short-term) route for money/visa requirements.

    Germany sets the blocked account requirement based on an average national cost of living, not Berlin prices. In smaller cities that amount is usually workable. In Berlin or Munich, rent alone can eat most of it. So if a student chooses a high-demand city with tight housing and higher costs, they’re automatically putting more pressure on themselves financially.
    That said, many programs are concentrated in major cities, especially English-taught ones, and bigger cities offer more part-time job options. So it’s not purely a bad decision. It’s often just incomplete financial planning or underestimating the housing market.
    Students who choose smaller university towns, apply early for dorms, and line up campus jobs usually experience far less stress. Location strategy makes a huge difference in Germany.

      Because in theory (for the system) it is not them (the indian guys) who are working as registered delivery employees. Someone else is registered in the app and this one "lends the rights of working" to the indian guy so they can do the job. The guy who is registered in the app receives the money and then gives part of it to the indian guy who is actually working as delivery employee. It's like you get hired to do a job, but instead of you doing it you hire someone else to do it and pay this guy for the work done while you keep part of the money.
