thanks to Kevin for coming to help. It's not just the extra set of hands but I am sure it was nice to have someone to chat with as well
Kevin- a true, diamond 💎 friend. Well done!!!
It's a thousand times nicer to say I built it myself than to say I paid for it myself
How nice of Kevin to offer help. Stay warm and safe.
Kevin is the MAN, great dude!
You should get the people that helped with the build sign the trusses and write a small message. That way they will always be there.
This needs to be upvoted to get Joel to see it, what a great idea. Maybe a board with Made By (then all the names).
awesome help today, thank you, Kevin!!
So true Joel. It seems damn near impossible to find people who treat your work as their own. I'm a licensed plumber/hobbyist woodworker and I essentially do everything myself for this very reason. You need to be watching over the workers shoulders at all times just to get it done (near) properly. It seems the really good ones are extremely expensive and typically booked up for months.
I really hope you guys had a professional design the new barn for structural safety and design.
You are a treasure to your generation Joel. Family❤
NEW SUBSCRIBER. No doubt you nailed this video. Let's talk about me. Now, more about me later. Those tools you're getting paid to use is another topic. Lithium is a very hazardous material.
Your feelings and comments of why and how YOU guys built the barn were so honest, thank you sir😊.
Learning by doing is invaluable. You now know how it was built because you built. Those skills will be with you forever. Great job Lefty!!
Can’t Wait to See the Roof Truss finally getting Installed. 🤔👍
Kevin is great fun and of course a great help too! Love your philosophy re-the barn built and also you can build as and when your time allows.
Love this! You are so right about doing this barn on your own, lessons for a lifetime. And the benefit of a bunch of new tools!!
Hi Joel, you and your mom,dad and wife should be very proud of the amazing job you are doing on the barn building, I'm impressed!! Keep up the good work ,I can imagine the satisfaction you'll feel when it's completed, keep on building 🪚🗜🔩⚙️🪛🔧🔨
What a team!!
Good job guys.
Great job Gentlemen! Kevin,, you are a good friend. I see why Joel hangs out with you. :)
See you in the next one.
Wow the trusses are piling up 👏👏👏👏👏 Kevin great to see you and helping Joel ( in the cold again ) is so kind of you ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Friends are treasure's. Enjoyed the video 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Love from the UK x
Hello Kevin! Good to see you having some fun in the cold!
Please give my thanks to Kevin for being such a big help. And that electric glue gun is awesome! Good job guys
The progress is exciting.😀👍
Way to go Kevin ❤❤❤❤ you did a great job helping Joel❤❤❤
Always remember left handed people are always in their right mind. I remember buying my brother a special left handed coffee cup, if you drank right handed it dribbled coffee on you. He loved it
Kevin and you make a great team!!!
Great job Joel and Kevin ❤❤❤
Joel your grandkids will be able to say “My grandpa built this barn”
I love the fact you are building it yourself. I was raised on a farm and we did everything ourselves. My dad passed his knowledge on to us and it has save me thousands of dollars over my lifetime not to mention the satisfaction I get from being able to do it myself. I'm sure once you and Megan have little ones you will enjoy passing your knowledge on to them. Bravo to you Joel for being someone willing to work and learn. Loving the barn build.
Great friends and family can't be beat! I agree, I'm tired of being cooped up!
love that explanation of why you do stuff yourself……. i’m the same way and it’s the best way for exactly the reasons you stated. cant wait to see the progress continue!!
Hey Joel 👋🏾. The trusses are piling up. Can’t wait to see them go up. I’m excited for you guys 😊
Well done both of you, makes a difference when you have someone with you. Doing a great job. Regards from England
So appreciate your explaining your well-thought out decision to have a home-grown hay barn. Skill sets in general are not as valued in the working world as they once were. But yours are alive and well in so many areas. If you love to learn it makes life more interesting, doesn’t it?
Really enjoyed watching 👍👍
I feel your pain, Joel. It’s hard to be a left handed living in a right hand world. That’s the reason we have to be gifted.
Kevin is delightful as always. Glad to see him! You guys work well together. Can't wait to see what's next after the trusses.😊
😊
4284 screw for your trestles, if my calculations are right. Glad you had some help with you today. Seems like he knows what he is doing.
Time to have some workers. Andrew is already talking about putting his to work on egg collecting when they get bigger! 😊
Hey Joel! Love the barn videos! My husband is wondering if you are using the Liquid Nails Extreme when it’s really cold? He is concerned it may not be sticking like you’d expect if it you are using the “heavy duty”. We both love your videos and always watch together! ❤
Kevin.. Sri Lanka v Australia Test starts today
You sound like a college educated man Joel! Or you are self educated with an enormous amount of reading behind you! Love your verbage.
I agree,insightful comment😊
Looking great Joel stay warm 😊
good lord dont mention wind we had a storm here last thursday we were nearly blown over to england god forbid 🤣great vid regards from ireland
on the bottom gusset (bottom of rafter) you might want to put glue going up and down (like you are), but you need to put some going accross, both for downward pressue on the open joint, and lateral (streaching) on the open joint. While the glue with not solve all the problem, it will give you a little bit more strenth....good luck !!!
And a mega ton more screws will strengthen it a lot better. I'd be concerned about any large snow loads.
Thank you from The Netherlands
I'm left handed too.
love the wide open spaces as u drive along the usa is on my bucket list before i get to old
Will you be using metal truss hangers or stay with wood?
Joel when do you think we’ll see a baby car seat in the your truck???? 🍼👶
Too personal. Don't ask people questions like that
Very rude .
Don't you live in Amish country? They're great builders and what I have seen care about their work.
Was that Peter at 19:30 in the green work coat? If it was disappointed, he didn't say hi.
How many places did you get bids from on those trusses? Think you are getting ripped off
You can pass this on to ypur childrens
I got a feeling the plywood you have holding your truss together at the bottom with the overhang over the 2x4 will be a great place for native birds to have a nest.. it will certainly make a mess with the nest and poop..
Just a thought… most adhesives and caulking has to be applied over 40 degrees. What are you using?
🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇🐐🐐🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇
I'm almost ambidextrous -- I just end up confused and have to work out which hand to use !!
There are sawing machines for the left handend. Makita has one but I would guess Dewalt has it also.
Joel; logic is logic and i saw no reason to question why you built he barn yourselves. That would be, to me, an obvious answer. You are right however in saying that quality of work by many 'professionals' has gone by the wayside. What is the definition of a "Professional"? >>>>> someone paid to perform a service or task. That says nothing about their abilities!!
Do the veggie cats go into the horse barn? Just noticed we’ve never seen kitties in barn🐈
Leia might have something to do with that!
Where is Kevin from? Just wondering if he is from the Caribbean or a country in Africa. First choice would be Jamaica.
Scale saws for left handers are available
I have a question for your dad when he comes around, When you set your poles into the ground, you have then turned sideways, (the 4" thickness) to the wind load on the wall. Wouldn't they have been 50% stronger if they were turned 90 degrees with the 6" thickness against the wind load on the wall?
Amish would have that thing up in two days! 😮😅
Yes but there would be 30 or 40 of them working on it ....😀
@@rojoreds524 Yeah, a lot of them children that should be in school
@redeyedmongoose2963 Well, they do go to school...granted generally only the 8th grade. But when you look at what their community values it is learning skills over a lot of the useless crap that non amish children are required to learn under the guise that it makes them more well rounded ... so many kids now days that are not going to be doctors or lawyers would be much better off taking shop classes where they learn a trade.
Who was the 3rd person helping build trusses?
I think I saw Pete in the background once or twice.
💤💤💤
You didn’t tell us the number made per hour
Yes he did. You didn't pay attention
Too bad your cousins, The Veggie Boys, don’t help you out a little bit.
Nunya.
Recording a video while driving is just another form of distracted driving (like texting) which can lead to accidents and death of yourself or others. Is a RUclips video worth that? It is also a bad example to adults and children that it is okay to be distracted while driving. “It can’t happen to me”, no one should say that because it could happen to them. And before you give me the excuse, my phone has a mount, how comforting would you find that statement if you had to get that excuse as a grieving family or give that excuse to a grieving family. Please don’t record a video and drive.
SAFETY HAS ARRIVED
