First of all, what a beautiful book! The setting is very interessant. I didn't know that medieval authentic games. Now I thinking about a RPG in the Iberic Peninsula during the 'Reconquista' era.
Thanks for making that traps supplement, btw. It really helped me with some ideas I had for a rather elaborate bandit encampment that the pc's were hired to infiltrate! :)
We became so invested that we role played in mediaeval Spanish and one of the players got a book on canonic law to play his priest character Edit: we're Spaniards by the way.
My premium hardback arrived last week while I was out of town. Looking forward to immersing myself in the game and Piast Poland. Enjoying taking my time to digest the book that is rife with details and information. Thanks for doing this series, very appreciated and helpful. I'm going to be playing it solo and I'm fairly new to TTRPGs.
I’ve been running Lion and Dragon for a little while and really like it. When I first heard about Baptism of Fire it seemed like L&D’s weird cousin. But the more I learn the less I think that and the more I think “I gotta get this game!”
Id also say the current papers coming out shows. From what we are find now shows that when rome left its wasnt the end of the world. Looking forward to getting this book.
Please excuse my extreme noobness - can I please briefly ask if BoF has any kind of solo play situation? Or will Drivethru have my answer? Anywho, thank you very much! No matter what I am pumped to learn more about your work! Just now found you 👍
Baptism of Fire is not inherently made for solo play. HOWEVER, if you check out the Appendices at the back, its got a whole bunch of random tables that can be used to generate events and encounters for solo play.
How much of the Baptism book is AI generated art? I'm asking because the cover, on close inspection, looks like it has a common stippling pattern used in Midjourney.
The majority of the art in the book is AI, along with some historical art pieces. Here's the Publisher's information on it: A note regarding the use of AI art: Only the public domain works of deceased classical artists were curated to derive the AI art in this book. The total body of work that these artists produced in their lifetimes (with specific regard to this book’s subject matter) was not sufficient to populate every page. Thus, to both meet our image quota and ensure a cohesive look to the book, specific prompts were used to reproduce their artistic style. It would have been nearly impossible to commission the number of images at the skill level needed from living artists without paying millions of dollars and waiting many years for completion. It took Michelangelo four years to paint the Sistine Chapel. If he were alive today, his services would be cost-prohibitive and the body of work in this book would be complete in approximately 1200 years. It is not our intention to use AI to replace modern living artists, but AI can be a valuable tool for use in niche indie products like this one.
@@RPGPundit I appreciate your honesty and transparency in the use of AI art. I just bought Baptism of Fire from DriveThru and it's really great! I think the AI art matches that roughly painted classic style and the theme of it is maintained throughout. The only thing I see that could have been better was the table color. The light blue color in the table rows seems out of place and glaring. White or a light cream color would have been the better color choice there. Yeah, overall well done Pundit; proud of you man!

I recommend you check out Aquelarre, it's in Spanish.
@@templar976 There is a translation for the newest edition and one of the setting books in case others are interested.
@@templar976I came to comment the same.
Got my copy yesterday excited about it
Aquelarre ya existe!
Congratulations! Thank you for your awesome video! I am pumped to follow along 👍

Can't wait for the series of the whole game. I have begun reading it, but I am a SLOW reader and this is my first OSR game.

I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Spread the word!
I was thinking Cadfael when I came across your books!

Have you ever played Aquelarre? It's a Spanish Medieval-Authentic game set in Medieval Spain.
We became so invested that we role played in mediaeval Spanish and one of the players got a book on canonic law to play his priest character
Edit: we're Spaniards by the way.
Yes. It was a huge influence on the creation of Dark Albion and Lion & Dragon.
This series is gonna awesome

Looks good, and thanks for talking about the character creation system.

Yeah. Its like the more primitive dark ages prequel to L&D!
Glad you finally got your copy!😆

Those papers were mostly written by Marxist "anti-imperialists", so take them with a grain of salt.

I love systems that start at level zero.
Mine arrived today. Three and a half weeks as a heads up.
Let me know how you like it. Spread the word, share the video!
How compatible is the Old School Companion 2 adventures with BoF? Do you think you'll do some BoF setting adventures in the future?
The OSC2 adventures would all work fine with BoF rules. There will likely be some adventures specifically for Poland in the near future.
I purchased the premium softball. That looks like mine.
Good to know!

Could go into some detail about skills? Since you don't have a codified skill list.
Good idea! I'll be sure to do that.
First! Curious about character creation for this system.
Hope this video helps a bit with that. The next video will cover the character classes.
Where's Meatball?
Meatball was in the other room, taking a nap. She's a very old lady now, and takes a lot of naps, especially in winter.
