- This is Round 8 of the Round Table Conference, a tournament featuring 16 decks from the 13th main booster of the Digimon Card Game: VS Royal Knights. The final two decks to clash are MirageGaogamon Burst Mode and Belphemon. The Blue MirageGaogamon deck has existed since the early days of the game, but it is only in recent sets that it has received sufficient support for its engine to compete at higher levels of play. It now has access to several sources of forcing the opponent to draw, Memory manipulation and the potential to convert those resources into a series of consecutive attacks that take down foes faster than the eye can see. On the other hand, the Purple Belphemon deck relies on the opposite. Using Purple's signature techniques of drawing plus trashing and deleting their own Digimon for setup, they finish off the opponent with a boss that is practically invulnerable during the opponent's turn and becomes a 1HKO machine during yours if your hand size is small enough. In a sense, it can be said that these two decks counter each other but MirageGaogamon has the upper hand. Who will claim the final ticket to the Round Table Conference Quarterfinals? Let's find out!

Well clearly, this matchup is not totally fair. One engine/mechanic counters the other, and this was evident in playtesting as well. I'm definitely thinking of showcasing the losing deck in another match on my channel so it has a chance to UNLEASH its full power (it is also a super fun deck to pilot, though sometimes challenging/tricky to bring out its full potential - you have to be very careful and think ahead about what cards you choose to trash from hand). Despite saying that though, I think it had a very good chance of winning this match. For example, if the Lv.4 it trashed at the end of its 2nd Turn was the BT13 version and not the ST14 one, I believe the presence of that inheritable would have changed the outcome. But who knows - cos the other side would have had to play differently around that as well. And now that we've gone deep enough that spoilers should be okay... I AM SO HAPPY THE MIRAGEGAOGAMON DECK IS SO FUNCTIONAL NOW. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY SINCE BT-04. OF COURSE, IT'S DEFINITELY NOT TIER 1 MATERIAL. BUT IT WORKS NOW, AND IT FEELS GOOD TO PLAY. Now I can't help but wish that Masaru and Touma will clash in the finals. Considering the matchups, it's quite possible. Masaru being Tier 1 has a good chance of punching his way through the left bracket, though he might fall to Yggsdrasil is the Knights high roll. In the right bracket, Touma already counters the bird gang's [On Delete] shenanigans (and even being able to bounce their Tamers), and I foresee his bouncing to be rather effective on both Alphamon and Leopardmon as well. However, it's always a bit of a gamble with MirageGaoga as the draws you give to your opponent could contain the cards they need to turn the tables on you. In any case, see yall in the Quarterfinals!

I can see that proto gizumon's effect represents how it destroys Digimon in the anime and I like how Thomas and Nicolai work together
Gotta say I honestly thought Mr. Sleepy could take the win despite the advantages NotGaruru had. A truly good fight though, both decks got to show their capabilities really well.
The deck I've been waiting for! Beyond stoked to see Mirage out some work in after all this time, and I can't wait to see where he goes in this tournament!
Aw damn it. Was really hoping belphemon would win so we could get another video with it. With Ravemon down the only remaining deck in the cup I’m interested in is royal knights

Seriously speaking though, the matchup between the 2 is very interesting to say the least, I didn't know Eyesmon was able to play itself when trashed from hand, being something that Belphe's deck is capable off. On the other hand, it's good to see that BT4 Thomas being a good ally in the deck once more with all those shenanigans.

It was obvious who was going to win, but it was entertaining none the less. Can't wait for the next round because several decks I enjoy are in it. It's a but much for me to want leopardmon to make it to semi's, but we'll see how it goes.

Well it wasn't a really fair matchup, as mirage's effects perfectly counter a deck that tries to reduce hand size
Best of one with no side deck really highlights how some matchups really are “if they’re at least semi-competent playing the deck, I lose.”

Fun match, but I am sad my pick didn't get to move on to show it's play-style more.
Let's see; quarter finals up next; who am I rooting for? Probably...Examon, Yggdrasil, Alphamon, and ...maybe Red Bird actually. Lots of dark horses there, I can already tell; but they're just the more fun decks to watch so what can you do.

I’ve been so excited for Burst Mode Gaoga, and loved this match showcasing how good it is! Can’t wait to do shenanigans with multiples of both copies of Thomas.
Also, it wasn’t relevant here, but important to note that you trash what you don’t grab with BT11 Gaomon, you never know when that comes up but it really does bite you in the ass

7:22 I'm not so sure but i think you can trash the top Belphemon rage mode after sleep mode is remove, because both of the inherited effects will trigger at the same time and you can choose to trigger the upper rage mode to remove sleep mode first then the lower rage mode after which can still trigger because it already check the condition of sleep mode when the turn end. Correct me if I'm wrong.
No you can't! Japanese players have clarified this with Bandai. [End of Opponent's Turn] is the trigger condition, while the text 'If this Digimon is Sleep Mode' is the activation condition. So (1) both effects will trigger, (2) the first instance will resolve and trash Sleep Mode, (3) but now for the second instance, the activation condition is no longer met, so it does not resolve. Hope this clarifies things!
This is the same logic why even if multiple effects trigger at the same time, you can resolve 1 of them first to meet the activation condition of the 2nd. In this case, it's the opposite - resolving 1 effect first causes the 2nd to lose the activation condition

4:30 just wondering, why didnt you attack with gaoga before digivolving into mirage? level 5 or lower will get destroyed anyways plus you can use your tamer effect
As I explained in the vid, attacking at that moment will just let Belphemon snowball. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Mirage won cos it didn't attack then. If it did, Belphe can just discard 2 to stop the attack. So it doesnt get hit, its hand size gets smaller (disrupting Gaogas wincon) and it gets a free Lv4 body

Im sorry if this is a dumb question, but why did you only attack with belphemon and not the others aroubd the 10:30 mark?
None of them could attack. Digimon cannot attack the turn they are played

Ok, so we have the demon lords of Pride, Lust, Sloth, Wrath and Gluttony (Lucemon, Lilithmon, Daemon/Creepymon Belphemon and Beelzemon), how long do you think we gotta wait before Leviamon and Barbamon appear?
hopefully not too long. I was really hoping some of these decks (Specifically Lucemon and Daemon cause they're my favorite) would get some support but it seems Bandai isn't letting it happen. :( why is it that only Beelzemon gets an X form
I knew Belphemon would get stomped. To be honest that is how a few matchups in this set go. Marcus counters royal knights for example. Still a good match to see miragegaogamon's powers.

BT11 gaomon doesn't send the rest to deck bottom, the cards you don't pick up are trashed.

Nope, see the Security effect - it's just the bounce! (there seems to be a translation error on the DCG wiki if that's what you're referring to)

it's actually pretty strong, it just that miragegaogamon in this match has advantage coz of bt13 thomas that can give belphemon more card,

Yep, it was a shame that rng led to this matchup. If Mirage had been taken out by a different opponent, Belphe stood a good chance making it all the way to the finals
Personaly i hope belphemon win the game but because Mirage Gaogamon take advantage for bouncing belphemon have hard time in this game. Especially with full moon meteor impact change the tempo to Mirage Gaogamon favor.
