I think more like 5 years behind. I started driving for Uber 10 years ago in Austin Texas. After lyft and Uber left Austin I started driving a Tesla as a chauffeur. I would talk about how self-driving would be here in 2 to 3 years way before Tesla announced it and everyone thought I was crazy. I was actually a year behind on my prediction when everybody thought it was going to be at least 5 to 10 years. I'm pretty sure there are some DOJ black budget companies that have AGI already. 👁️

    • @Crawdaddy_Ro

Some define AGI in that way, but many others argue that AGI should emulate all human capabilities. The absence of a concrete definition for AGI fuels much of the debate within the community. Personally, I believe AGI should have a solid understanding of complex mathematics and physics, man. But hell, like 99% of the community, I'm an armchair researcher lol

I feel like I am always on here trying to tell you that the genetics thing you reference isn't AI. It isn't your fault, though. They always claim it is AI in the press release and sometimes in the peer-reviewed paper itself. The editors want buzz-words and most aging academics doing the peer review work don't have a flipping clue what modern AI actually is. The coronary artery disease paper is not AI, although it is sort of cool. It is a random forest GWAS (Genome wide association search). Random forest has been around since the mid-1990s, so branding this early and very basic machine learning algorithm as 'AI' is a real stretch. There are purpose-built algorithms like FarmCPU and BLINK that are, very literally, several orders of magnitude more computationally efficient than random forest for GWAS so I would argue it isn't even using the latest techniques (which don't implement machine learning at all). The 'inovation' in this paper is that the they only included a set of very rare variant genes in the analysis and that the random forest picked a small subset of the variants that matched previous studies that found gene associations. Typical GWAS is just a smattering of a huge number of randomly selected gene variants with the super rare varients removed. This implementation has the very typical BS that human genetics papers always have, where the kinship matrix is not included as a model cofactor. That said, I don't know how one might calculate kinship on only ultra-rare variants. Otherwise, there is nothing scientifically wrong with the paper, it just is not that ground breaking. Also, it is important to note that the gene variants or markers that GWAS finds are often not the cause of a disease/trait, rather they are simply in a region of the genome associated with the trait.

“Such devices can NOT interrupt thoughts” is incorrect. In early discussions about Neuralink, they explicitly promoted the sensor as bidirectional. Therefore, it can measure and also apply microcurrents. This means that, potentially, they CAN influence thoughts, which is intentional for use cases like being a pacemaker or countering epilepsy.

Man, this is already funny! Second video with fake information about 74% (75%) AGI. The author does not check the information and publishes FAKE. Why watch news that you release in JUNE, but use information from MAY. Why watch expired news? Are you OK? Man, it's not serious! This is a dislike!

could just be man hasn't cleared his cache. more probable that ur right & these are prerecorded slightly ahead of time- at least 5 or 6 days, from when the needle changed- which is the nature of content creation. in all fairness we've been sitting at 74% for most of june. either way, is it that heartbreaking to learn ab things happening within the last 100 hrs as opposed to the last 10? it's good that ur fact-checking but a bit disingenuous to consider it fake. not to argue semantics, but it was accurate a week ago, & only inaccurate now, a week later; fake implies it was never accurate to begin w. if u enjoy the content, rest easy, as there's no need to throw the baby out w the bathwater over something so minor imo

Dang. Yeah. I just can’t edit these any faster. I think of my channel more like a magazine. It’s kind of timely to the month, but I’m not the breaking news guy.
