It takes about a generation for people to forget what caused the last bubble, and to overspend like nothing can ever go bad or market values of assets to decline. We are now 17 past the 2007 onset of the Great Reccession when real property and stocks took a big price hit. People say there aren't the liar loans of 2007, but there are other factors now. History rarely repeats, but it often rhymes.

Hi. I’m an average student graduating with a bachelor of science this summer. I liked the perspectives in this video and wanted to share a bit about why I’m in debt. I admit it’s not just food and rent. To put it simply, I was stressed with studying away from home and spent much school money on a small vacation and an internship. Then we had a family emergency I helped with. Another thing is I couldn’t tolerate tooth pain and got 3 fillings with my insurance still under debate. I also pay for a storage unit since our apartments don’t store their insect infested furniture. I bought a car with my savings incase one of my siblings had an emergency. Lastly, I finally found a job and couldn’t bear not helping my mom on Mother’s Day, so I bought her a housekeeping service before I max out my credit cards on something else selfish or emotionally charged. Because of those things, now it’s hard to pay rent, buy food, and buy gas. So I use my credit card and am fervently hunting for a post grad job that can help. Thanks for listening.

Hi guys, thanks for all this great information! I’m a social worker in a pretty stable area of the country in terms of housing and cost of living. My husband lost his job and developed a life threatening health condition simultaneously in fall of 2021 and didn’t have employment until last week. We survived bc we had bought a house we could afford on one salary and we drove old cars. I recently started a part time job on the side doing therapy in private practice bc we’ve had some expenses come up. But the corporate benefits and health insurance from my job are paramount to our survival. My question is, if gig work were to become the norm, those jobs come with no benefits. How do we address the insane costs of healthcare for people as they’re currently tied to our jobs? The insurance company I work for recently did layoffs and I don’t think we could survive if I was to lose our health care coverage. Fortunately my specialty area in the company provides supports to the a large amount of Medicaid and chip members so we don’t anticipate losing a lot of positions. But you just never know. Do you have thoughts on this issue with healthcare being tied to employment?

What's going on with this world? First they think I'm stealing at Walmart because I’m trying to match up something that I already had on hand, namely a pair of glasses. Then of course they stopped me on my way out to check my receipt. The guy literally turns the receipt as it's in my hand which is full of a bunch of stuff that I’d just purchased. Then I run over to Dollar Tree ($1.25 Tree) and every 5 minutes the guy says on the PA system that the store is closing at 10:00 and that if you're not on line by that time then you won't be rung up. I know shoplifting is on the rise but stores need to still maintain courtesy and professionalism. They treat their customers like dirt.

I also think that fast food places are losing money because people are realizing that fast food is not good, not healthy, doesn’t add to your life, and it’s only good for when you genuinely need convenience. The expensive fast food is important too, though, I see that it is much cheaper to just eat rice every day and asparagus, and make my own fish, even if it takes a long time. I feel happier cooking anyway even if it creates many other problems.

You obviously understand the middle income earners' frustration with not wanting to over pay for a home but also being concerned that the stimulus based manipulation has caused the lack of natural cause and effect to play out. Home buyers have a legitimate concern with deciding if they should buy anything right now or they will be forced to rent. We are in a terrible cross roads that needs to be allowed to correct natural or the middle class will be pushed out of the ability to purchase an affordable home.

Todd, totally agree that we’re not teaching people about the reality around them. And that applies not only to our financial lives but to the reality of our changing climate which is RAPIDLY spiraling out of control. Look at the “storm” in Houston 2 days ago, look at the Lahaina,Hawaii fire and hurricane in Acapulco last fall. Look at all the flooding in Brazil last month, the tornadoes in the past 2 weeks, and they’re predicting the strongest hurricane season possibly ever because the oceans are off the charts hot. The oceans have never been this hot in the time that humans have been alive. We need to help people understand that until we drastically reduce our consumption and we start to ‘live within our climate budget’ this will continue to worsen. We must prepare not for the future that we ‘hope’ is going to happen but for the future that scientist are warning us IS HAPPENING- NOW.

Geoengineering has been going on for a long time. With virtually no transparency it's impossible for the public to know how much climate change is natural, due to geoengineering, or something else.

Impressive video! Your detailed analysis of the intricate pension situation and the potential impact of the debt ceiling crisis is a compelling wake-up call for proactive financial planning. Yet, adding a touch on alternative investment strategies, such as the potentially lucrative day trading, would have elevated the discussion. Though risky, with strong risk management and a keen understanding of the markets, it can be a profitable endeavor. Continuous learning, staying updated with trends, and leveraging insights like Rafa Manuel’s are critical to success. Remember, with discipline and dedication, trading success is within reach..

I am so confused by the idea that tax dollars pay government salaries. The US dollar is fiat, and must be issued by the US government. Therefore, more dollars cannot be taxed, than have been issued. We can reduce the money supply by running a surplus, but that is deflationary, as less dollars will be in circulation. And a continuous surplus in tax revenue would eventually consume all of the dollars in circulation. In reality, I think the combination of monetary and fiscal policy in the US, is simply a means of allocating and diverting resources based on the interests of the current government power structure.
