    • @Tmanowns
      @Tmanowns 5 лет назад +45

It is literally my favorite film. The only thing I have to add, is that for me, the ending montage is so tragic, because Alexandria forgets all the pain Roy went through due to his accident, and then we're shown stunt after stunt from that era of film. How many were injured, even killed, for simple entertainment? Without anyone even stopping to consider it. Either way, few movies get me to cry, the Fall gets me crying several times every viewing.

Fabulous question THE Salient Question to launch the process of healing. I would be The Last Cave Painter - the bad ass shaman who leads young boys through the transformation to adulthood and the ability to uncover his own shadow so that it is not projected upon others....to own it and digest it and integrate into himself...and therethrough end domestic violence and racism and even war ....and elevate justice and compassion to the driving values of individual fathers and eventually society.... That is who I would be in the rewrite.

Possibly one of the sweetest films ever made. I don't think that is a quality that is necessarily lauded in film, especially if they are seen to be great. But at its center is so golden, so genuine. After all the great landscapes and costumes and rip-roaring adventure, the most riveting scene is a man and a young girl in a hospital room, saving each other's small, but precious lives. I have such a special place in my heart for this one, I will always treasure it.

I think it is one of the finest films in cinema of the English language. My daughter, Alexandra, was lured to the film because the protagonist was played by The Pie Man from "Pushing Daisies" a favorite of hers. I watched it with her when she was still a girl. Your review is exactly correct in every aspect.
Of course Alexandra represents a Christ metaphor. He has free will as God gave it in Genesis, so it is his story to tell, to make it happy or a tragedy. However it is *her story too* , which matches the metaphor of Christ. He imagines, but she creates. The story is mingled from the start.

i 'm commenting before watching the video when i finish, i'll edit it and give my opinion
*edit* : sometimes we create heroes because we need heroes and sometimes we find hope because we need hope , and what better to heal a broken a heart than a distracted mind? and i guess that's the role of Alexandria in this movie she is introduced as an element to distract his mind but as the story unfolds we can see clearly that she is that element who brings hope by replacing the dark feelings in that man's heart by replacing it with new ones full of joy.
she brings that feeling of being loved, that feeling that there's someone who still cares, there's someone who who needs us and that my friends is true love.

Finally a movie showcasing true innocence and cluelessness of children. I saw critics that were complaining that the kid seems slow, confused and having juvenile dialogue that got on their nerves and rated this movie low because of it, which are the dumbest critics ever. Maybe because most movies they used to have children talking and think like adults, having mature conversation with adults even swearing. Maybe these critics themselves talked like rocket scientists when they were kids. I seriously hate these pretentiously "cool" people.

It's based on the screenplay of the 1981 Bulgarian film "Yo Ho Ho" by Valeri Petrov. Virtually the same story (with minor differences in context but not in structure, e.g. they were on a ship and the child was a boy), but of course with the stunning visuals that the old Bulgarian movie didn't have. However, "Yo Ho Ho" compensated by exaggerating the lack of realistic, quality visuals in contrast to the imaginative story, making it funny and forcing the viewer to think as a child (who may be hearing common seagulls, but believe them to be albatrosses off the coast of Jamaica). "The Fall" is a very different kind of experience, very majestic and dreamlike. I loved them both!
A quote from "Yo Ho Ho": "I believe people to be at their best character up until 10 years of age. After that they just go downhill."

'You trying to save my soul', the most subtle and deep meaning scene in the film. It just shows mental state of Roy, he is looking for someone he can care for, someone who can save him and over all of that the innocence of Alexanderia.

Finally! Something for an underrated film! The visuals are spectacular, much like the imaginative story shared by Roy and Alexandria.

This movie always struck me as an odd duck. It starts so shallow, so simply beautiful and void. But the images reel you in. By the time the end came I remember thinking "who the hell crafted this", because it feels like a dream, with its logic and wonder, yet Pace and Untaru are the real dream, the heart of it all, and it somehow works. Its emotionally sound. Its such a satisfying film...

I am blessed to have been to many of the places, palaces and forts where this was filmed, like in Rajasthan India's cities of Jaipur, Jodphur (Blue City), Jaisalmer & Agra. IT's MORE MAGICAL IN PERSON. WHEN THE FANTASY IS REAL

I like your take on this film! It has a special place in my heart just like many others here in the comments. My initial take away from the film was how storytelling can be used to manipulate others, not just a small child - which I hadn't considered.

Conoci esta película por un proyecto fotográfico de mi hija mayor, quien recreo a Alexandria con mi hija menor. Siempre le ayudo con la indumentaria así que deseaba verla pero no me daba tiempo y cuando por fin lo hice, Dios! Me rompió.
Se volvió una de mis favoritas.

Thank you for your beautiful insights. After I finished watching The Fall for the first time, I knew I had just viewed one of the most breathtaking films I may ever see. It is quite an exciting experience to see a great movie- and it's brought to a whole other level when you can also say to yourself..."I have never seen this before.".

I'm always surprised by how few people know about this fine film. It is wonderfully over the top, but also anchored by a very human story between a man and a girl child. I had a similar relationship with a magical girl. She and I saved each other's lives.
Not until the second time did I realize that the story is being told through the child's interpretation of the man's story. It's a very intriguing story device.

a thing i learned from blade runner (both movies), when one dare to get out of the walls he built around his soul to reach another soul and to let another to touch his soul, he is truly a human. now thanks to this video i know that's when you lets someone in, together you can rewrite the story of your life.
