I love the white lights. At home I do not have any tree or honestly any christmas decoration (exept for the Advent calender). At my parents we always had a real tree with wax candles. You needed to have an eye on it at every moment but it was really special and cozy. At work in the office we have a fake tree at the moment which is fun as well.
Team fake tree all the way. Currently I have the following in my tree inventory : (all trees are 6 foot or taller) red, white, blue, silver, platinum gold, rose gold, purple, and today I bought the prismatic blue iridescent outdoor one at Sam's club (cause it was $70 off), and tomorrow my green tree will be delivered from Micheal's. I also gave three other trees from my inventory to people who needed a little Christmas spirit. Finally, I have about 50 or tabetop trees (bottle brush, cone, twig, wire) placed around the house. My son says I have a problem. I just tell him they're his inheritance along with my 2000+ yard stash of fabric. (I guess he didn't believe me when I said I would get even for all those Lego booby traps he scattered around the house after watching Home Alone).
Small table tree with colored lights decorated with my children's milestones. My favorite memory when I was a child my Mom fell in love with a Silver Pom Pom tree, with colored lights and tinsel. We had it for years. The Last time I rembemer seeing it was Christmas 1974. My family left me in New Mexico as a college freshman. Went home and packed up a small U-haul and moved to the U.P. Yes, she took the tree and that was the only Christmas break I had until after I graduated. GREAT memories.
Hi Amy! Always have a real tree. I consider fake one, but here in the Pacific Northwest, I just can't bring myself to buy one. As I've gotten older, th tree gets smaller so I can lift it myself. A friend down the street will help. I like colored, non blinking lights. I also have so many ornaments that not all can come out and enjoy the tree each year. I now have bins and former popcorn containers marked even years and odd years. But there are special ones that have to go on the tree each year. I do like your pink faux tree. Very pretty. I told my boyfriend about all your dogs in the sewing room and how you adopted them. Whew! I like the placemat. Take care, Marion 🍩
Looking out the window to your right at the beautiful, sunny day you’re having. We may see the sun on Sunday, maybe not here in Western PA. Enjoy your day and get out there!
When I used to put up the tree. Team fake tree. Lights depended on theme. Every year on Xmas day I'd pick a different colors for the next year. All year I'd make or find ornaments for the new colors. Don't do tree anymore it's just me and I'd have to take down the quilt frame for the season. No one sees it but me...maybe a small fake tree next year.... something to think about......
Hello Beautiful! So glad Anna likes the table topper. When the kids were younger it was fun to cut down a real tree but they have gotten so expensive (just like everything else) We bought a new fake tree this year and it is pre-lit with both colored and white lights. It goes back and forth so we don’t have to decide. Or we can change it up.
Real tree with colorful lights. But, we no longer add ornaments, just a few candy canes. As our children moved out, we gave them their special ornaments for their own trees and decided that a tree with just lights is still beautiful. Plus, taking down the tree is now SO much easier!
I'm team fake tree since my husband passed away. What I do love about my tree is that it switches between white and color lights so I get the best of both. I love what you did for Anna. It's so rewarding to make someone you love happy.😊
Beautiful table mat!!! Thanks for bringing us along. I am usually team real tree with color lights, but my cat and a tree don’t mix. Ask how I know. Instead, I have been using a 20 inch tree made of pinecones glued together that he doesn’t bother.
No tree, in the house. I like my decorations hanging from the ceiling, from various lengths of tinsel garland, small white lights weaving around. Outside trees, lots of twinkling colorful lights. Looked like Anna really appreciated you prioritizing them; how lovely. Have an awesome day.
This year I’m using a fake tree made of real wood in a workshop for people with various challenges. I love it. I bought it at a New England craft fair.
Hey Amy! Team fake tree Team white lights And thank you so much for making my day a little brighter! My question for you is what quilt are you on for this year? I don't think I'm going to make the 100 but I came pretty close.
Quilt basting spray. I have never used any. I have an item I can sprinkle on and iron the sandwich, and it sticks (melts). Does the spray you use have a strong odor (I've heard that about some) and does it smell afterwards? I normally pin, baste but that is difficult when you cannot feel your hands 🥴
That sprinkle stuff is fantastic. The June Tailor basting spray (which is why I always try and show it) is low VOC and no odor. The 505 I can only use outside and I prefer to not use that one at all. You can also tear mistyfuse into tiny pieces and use it like the sprinkle stuff- kind of fuse tacking.
Team Fake Tree for 36 years. My oldest developed Asthma and i says "no more live trees". Right now we have a 4ft tree on a table wit white lights BUT I really like to mix the lights so i have some of each.
Real trees, but always failed at getting the lights right. Once real trees got to be so expensive, I switched to a prelit tree. Love how easy it is to set up, and so much easier to manage. I'm for whatever tree works for a person's family or season.
I'm not usually a Will Ferrell fan either but thoroughly enjoyed Elf. Give it a try. I am team real tree but am getting to an age where I could maybe appreciate a fake one. I have colored lights on my tree each year. Outside, we have color on one side of the driveway, the other has whites and some reds. House is colored. Part of that is my kids decisions though. I like colorful lighting.
I can go either way on the tree. Currently we have a fake tree. The decorations on our tree are in no way curated, so colored lights! BTW, 7 below here in Minnesota overnight.
Team fake because I am allergic to real trees, but I SO miss the scent. I start with white lights towards the center of the branches to radiate out a glow. Then fill in with colored lights. I do a different theme every year. Last year I had birdhouses and owls. Life has intervened and my tree is not even up yet this year. I am traveling to Chicago this weekend to see my grown daughter in her dance recital. Favorite movie is DIe Hard, Don't even argue whether its a Christmas movie. I just LOVE your new lipstick color, so flattering with your skin tone. Keep up the videos, really enjoy them. Happy Holidays dear Amy.
Fake tree, because it can look like it has snow on the branches. Color lights. BUT... for my sewing room, a white tree with white lights & blue, white, silver, clear ornaments with an angel on top. For the kitchen, one of those small rosemary topiaries decorated with tiny kitchen tools, tiny glass ornaments of food, such as pickle, potato, walnut, fruit, gingerbread boys, glass blown small cookies.
I grew up going to cut our real trees and I love the memories. As an adult I have always had an artificial tree due to the messiness and maintenance. I also want to save the trees. I am team colored lights all the way.
Team real tree - go to a grower... choose one and cut it down. Coloured lights - steady not twinkling... Ornaments alllllll memory ones - the theme of our tree is going down memory lane with each and every ornament!
Team fake tree as my husband is allergic to most evergreen. Yes, to lights, any color or no color, any size, blinking or not, I just love the lights and ornaments.
Because of the time difference I’m waking up to a new video from you everyday to watch while I have my coffee in the morning and I’m loving it. January won’t be the same. 😢 I always had a real tree (I love the smell) until beetlegait. I have an artificial one now with multicoloured lights. Nothing on my tree matches, everything is multicoloured. The breakable decorations go above the height of the dog’s tails! They like to back into it wagging away! It must be a basset thing as every single one we’ve owned has done this! I don’t mind warm white (golden) lights but I don’t like the icy white lights, but each to their own, the world would be boring if we all liked the same thing. I love driving at night seeing all the trees lit up in peoples houses.
Zaza I’m NOT asking about Beetlegait that sounds horrific! I like to drive and look at the lights too. I like the ones that are all neat and tidy but my favorites are the ones that look like a drunken monkey installed them😜
I dog sat 7 dogs this past weekend for a rescuer worker. She adopted 6 dogs & still fosters. She actually works for the rescue Saving Hope in Fort Worth area.
Fake tree but don’t always put it up sometimes I just decorate the window. I like all lights. I have white lights on my kallux unit which holds all my fabric they look pretty.❤
Was always team real tree until they they got so crazy expensive a few back. Lights, on the tree all white lights and out doors a colored lights on the house and some garlands white lights.
I love a real tree but my husband and myself have allergies so fake it is. As far as both. I’ll put strands of colored lights deep in the tree that twinkle and then load on the white ones. I love the 3D Effect.
I am super allergic to fir and pine (and about 20 other trees) so I am team fake tree...and i have a Halloween and a Christmas tree. I love colorful lights.
I am team fake tree white lights. But this year I wanted an old fashioned simple tree. This year I bought a real tree. I thought I had white lights to put on it. But all I have is colored lights. So my simple old fashioned tree with homemade orange garland and dough salt ornaments doesn’t look how I envisioned it. The colored lights are gro😢on me. My fake tree has clear and colored lights so I can switch between them. I really like that.
Elf is great....not a Ferrell fan, but it's amazing. Afterwards, watch the special stuff about how it's made...seriously you need to sew it. It isn't a regular of his movies
I am team fake tree - grew up with fake tree and never understood the hassle of going out and cutting down healthy trees for one months entertainment. I love the smell of fresh pine but I can buy a candle. Lol 😝 I am alllll about the colorful twinkle lights! ❤️💚💛💙🩷🎄🎄🎄 just magical stuff.
Before I got married I preferred a real tree [this was when I didn't have to vacuum the carpet] When I married, we had a fake tree but eventually my husband persuaded me to have a real one. His mum never worked outside the home and cleaned all day so he'd never seen the mess the needles make. When we were still picking them out of the carpet in August he was converted! Now we're old and retired from teaching, we still have a fake tree but we have a real tree outside. Lights, hmm. Probably whatever is cheaper when the others fail but by preference coloured outside and white inside. He wouldn't notice. 😂
I am on fake tree team. So much easier for me. And I love colored lights but sometimes will add a strand of white to it. And I do not like twinkling blinking lights at all. Funny note..when I saw your lead in screen, I thought it said “Nerd Mom”. And I just chuckled when I read more carefully. Hero Mom.🤣🤪
Team Fake for us! I can't do real - allergies! We're having a debate in our house right now. One likes white lights, one likes colored, and one likes mixed. Luckily, our new (fake) tree has all 3 options!
I would prefer a real tree, but every year someone in the house would get sick from the tree. The year I got sick from the blue spruce was the last time we had a real tree. We have strands of both white and colored lights on the tree - white around the trunk and at the bottom just above the presents - colored everywhere else.
Team real tree and colorful lights. I’m at the age where I get the grandma can you make this requests. With 4 grandsons I’ve had to mend back backs, replace zippers in favorite coats, make leather machete cover you name it. I love it whenever they ask me to repair or make something.
My mom used to get a real tree and then have it flocked to death! (back in the sixties) I am Team Real Tree! The realer the better! In fact, my daughter and her partner rode horseback this year on a friends' property and got a 'wild' tree! It's kind of Charlie Brown like, but it's beautiful!
I could not sit through “a Christmas Story”, I do not like that movie. Same thing goes for “Napoleon Dynamite”. Honestly, I can’t get through 5 minutes of the latter. I have never seen the entire movie - and believe me, I have really tried! Those are two of my husbands’ s favorite movies. I just can’t stand them. 😂. Now, as far as trees go - always real. They smell so incredible. It’s just the most heartwarming aroma for the holidays. I love it. One more little thing - tree goes up Christmas Eve.
AMY! While Will Farrell is not necessarily my favorite, he did endear himself to me in "Stranger Than Fiction." One of my TRULY FAVORITE movies of all time, please watch it twice to really get it. I'll take A Christmas Story any day of the week! Team Real Tree and Colored Lights.
Has to be a fake tree now as my husband has an allergy to the real thing. Colourful lights and all the decorations given to me over 40 years of teaching. Put on every one of them every year!!
Me or my husband? I’m live/white My man, therefore what’s up,is fake/color. TBH, we usually put up the tree early and are lazy about taking it down, so fake makes more sense, and occasional I overrule him and put the white lights on. One year it was both. I put the white lights deep inside the live tree and it was lit from within, with the colored C7 bulbs strung fluke usual. Lovely. But a lot of work for that year. 😊
Fake tree all the way. Love colourful lights. You must watch Elf, it's amazing.. AMA, is Anna non binary? You keep saying "them" in relation to Anna. No judgement here, just curiously (nosiness) as I have friends with non binary and trans teens. Xx
Oh actual candles sounds frightening but beautiful.
Amy, I’m with you. Never saw Elf for the same reason. Favorites are Christmas Vacation and all time favorite, Charlie Brown Christmas!
I like the old school ones too! 🥰
(I guess he didn't believe me when I said I would get even for all those Lego booby traps he scattered around the house after watching Home Alone).
Your story keeps getting better! I can’t wait for the next installment.
GREAT memories.
A silver pompon tree sounds awesome. Thanks for sharing.

That is a great idea with the even/odd year ornaments. Thanks so much for sharing!
Looking out the window to your right at the beautiful, sunny day you’re having. We may see the sun on Sunday, maybe not here in Western PA. Enjoy your day and get out there!
It is a beautiful day, we are enjoying it!
Team real tree, 8 to 10 ft, blue spruce. Lots and lots of multicolored lights, steady on. Not blinking. Always! Merry, merry!
♥️♥️♥️
I love Christamas Story, Fake Trees & White light that stay on !!!! 🎅🎅🎅
Love it!!!
I have always been a real tree with colored lights, they are so warm and wonderful to sit and look at.
Yes indeed!
I love that idea of planning a theme for the year.
I love the option of being able to change it up! And prelit is the way to go!
Real tree with colorful lights. But, we no longer add ornaments, just a few candy canes. As our children moved out, we gave them their special ornaments for their own trees and decided that a tree with just lights is still beautiful. Plus, taking down the tree is now SO much easier!
That’s a great system
❤for Christmas Movies I highly recommend Santa Clause 1 (great scenery and costumes)
That’s a good one.❤
Agree!!!
I'm team fake tree since my husband passed away. What I do love about my tree is that it switches between white and color lights so I get the best of both. I love what you did for Anna. It's so rewarding to make someone you love happy.😊
Thank you so much!! I wish my little tree had switching lights.
Beautiful table mat!!! Thanks for bringing us along. I am usually team real tree with color lights, but my cat and a tree don’t mix. Ask how I know. Instead, I have been using a 20 inch tree made of pinecones glued together that he doesn’t bother.
Thanks. Your pinecone tree sounds cool.
No tree, in the house. I like my decorations hanging from the ceiling, from various lengths of tinsel garland, small white lights weaving around. Outside trees, lots of twinkling colorful lights. Looked like Anna really appreciated you prioritizing them; how lovely. Have an awesome day.
I love that you have your own unique style! Thank you so much. I really think Anna is pleased.
I like them all; it really depends on how I decorate the tree, and I like both types of trees
♥️♥️♥️
This year I’m using a fake tree made of real wood in a workshop for people with various challenges. I love it. I bought it at a New England craft fair.
That sounds beautiful!
Real tree and colored lights.
♥️♥️♥️
I am team fake tree. When my so was young, we did colorful lights but I have switched to white lights now that he's grown. (He'll be 21 on Dec 12).
♥️♥️♥️
Hey Amy!
Team fake tree
Team white lights
And thank you so much for making my day a little brighter!
My question for you is what quilt are you on for this year? I don't think I'm going to make the 100 but I came pretty close.
Good question!!! Thanks.
At the moment we have fake tree with white lights, but in the past have had real and colored lights. I love them all!
I love all the varieties.
Elf is one of the few Will Farrell movies I can watch. It’s a sweet movie. Fake tree…white lights. Or blue lights.
Elf is getting higher on the list 😜
@ now that I think about it, it’s probably the rest of the cast that redeems the movie!

Artificial tree with white lights that don’t intentionally go out until New Year’s Day! 🎄
I like your caveat “intentionally “
I'm team fake tree with colorful lights!
♥️♥️♥️
Real trees, but always failed at getting the lights right. Once real trees got to be so expensive, I switched to a prelit tree. Love how easy it is to set up, and so much easier to manage. I'm for whatever tree works for a person's family or season.
Totally get that! It’s all about what works for your family.
You’re talking me into it. I might check out Elf.
I prefer white lights but I compromised two years ago and got lights that can be either.
Choices are good.
Artificial tree and white lights.
♥️♥️♥️
I can go either way on the tree. Currently we have a fake tree. The decorations on our tree are in no way curated, so colored lights!
BTW, 7 below here in Minnesota overnight.
That’s too cold and for too long as well 😜♥️
I am team fake tree due to allergies. Our tree cycles between colored lights and white lights. I love it
Awesome (not allergies but otherwise)
Always real tree and colorful lights per majority rules lol
♥️♥️♥️
Team fake because I am allergic to real trees, but I SO miss the scent. I start with white lights towards the center of the branches to radiate out a glow. Then fill in with colored lights. I do a different theme every year. Last year I had birdhouses and owls. Life has intervened and my tree is not even up yet this year. I just LOVE your new lipstick color, so flattering with your skin tone. Keep up the videos, really enjoy them. Happy Holidays dear Amy.
Wow thank and have safe travels to see your dancer- that sounds awesome
I have never seen Elf or Christmas Story. The Holiday is a great movie.
♥️♥️♥️
Fake tree with color lights fiber optic . Thanks fir sharing have been enjoying your volgs 😊
Thank you so much!!!
That sounds lovely! I like the themes!
I grew up going to cut our real trees and I love the memories. As an adult I have always had an artificial tree due to the messiness and maintenance. I also want to save the trees. I am team colored lights all the way.
That’s me exactly.
Team real tree - go to a grower... choose one and cut it down. Coloured lights - steady not twinkling... Ornaments alllllll memory ones - the theme of our tree is going down memory lane with each and every ornament!
I love that!
Team fake tree as my husband is allergic to most evergreen. Yes, to lights, any color or no color, any size, blinking or not, I just love the lights and ornaments.
Me too on the lights. They’re all so good!
Because of the time difference I’m waking up to a new video from you everyday to watch while I have my coffee in the morning and I’m loving it. January won’t be the same. 😢
I always had a real tree (I love the smell) until beetlegait.
I like the ones that are all neat and tidy but my favorites are the ones that look like a drunken monkey installed them😜
@ they’re my favourite too
I am team artificial tree with colorful lights!
♥️♥️♥️
I dog sat 7 dogs this past weekend for a rescuer worker. She adopted 6 dogs & still fosters. She actually works for the rescue Saving Hope in Fort Worth area.
I bet that was a busy weekend! ♥️♥️
Fake tree but don’t always put it up sometimes I just decorate the window. I like all lights. I have white lights on my kallux unit which holds all my fabric they look pretty.❤
Great idea!!
Team fake tree for me with white lights. I hang a fresh spruce car freshener on it to give it that real tree feel. Haha!
That’s awesome and a great idea
Was always team real tree until they they got so crazy expensive a few back.
Lights, on the tree all white lights and out doors a colored lights on the house and some garlands white lights.
♥️♥️♥️
I love a real tree but my husband and myself have allergies so fake it is. As far as both. I’ll put strands of colored lights deep in the tree that twinkle and then load on the white ones. I love the 3D Effect.
Sounds lovely!!!
I am super allergic to fir and pine (and about 20 other trees) so I am team fake tree...and i have a Halloween and a Christmas tree. I love colorful lights.
Halloween AND Christmas - very cool!
I love the idea of a simple old fashioned tree with homemade ornaments. I think the colored lights will grow on you! 😁
I prefer real tree with white lights that stay on. My daughter decorates it but it has to be symmetrical! Whatever we have we are blessed.
Sounds lovely.
What a great Mom!
(By the way, I still miss your purple hair when I first see you!)
Thanks. I’m working o. The purple- I miss it too.
I have a fake tree. Too small for lights but I’d have colored lights.
♥️♥️♥️
Elf is great....not a Ferrell fan, but it's amazing. Afterwards, watch the special stuff about how it's made...seriously you need to sew it. It isn't a regular of his movies
I am adding it to the list.
white lights, real tree
♥️♥️♥️
I am team fake tree - grew up with fake tree and never understood the hassle of going out and cutting down healthy trees for one months entertainment. I love the smell of fresh pine but I can buy a candle. Lol 😝 I am alllll about the colorful twinkle lights! ❤️💚💛💙🩷🎄🎄🎄 just magical stuff.
Totally get that! The lights are the best part of the tree!🎄
Before I got married I preferred a real tree [this was when I didn't have to vacuum the carpet] When I married, we had a fake tree but eventually my husband persuaded me to have a real one. Funny note..when I saw your lead in screen, I thought it said “Nerd Mom”. And I just chuckled when I read more carefully. Hero Mom.🤣🤪
Nerd Mom. Hero Mom - same same in our house 😜♥️
Team Fake for us! I can't do real - allergies! We're having a debate in our house right now. One likes white lights, one likes colored, and one likes mixed. Luckily, our new (fake) tree has all 3 options!
Allergies are terrible but light options are awesome!

We have strands of both white and colored lights on the tree - white around the trunk and at the bottom just above the presents - colored everywhere else.
Your tree sounds beautiful.
I’m team no tree, no lights because I might get them up but I’ll never get them down.😏
I feel you there!!!
Team real tree and colorful lights. I’m at the age where I get the grandma can you make this requests. With 4 grandsons I’ve had to mend back backs, replace zippers in favorite coats, make leather machete cover you name it. I love it whenever they ask me to repair or make something.
It’s a real treat isn’t it!

Team real tree (oh the smell!!) twinkly lights and chasing my overly entitled kitty from the ornaments…
♥️🐱♥️🐱

Ok. Stranger than fiction added to the list
Colorful real
♥️♥️♥️
Now I have to send you all the ELF references until you watch it! Forget Will, watch for Zooey (even though she is blonde).
Didn’t know Zooey was in it. Now I’ll totally watch
Has to be a fake tree now as my husband has an allergy to the real thing. Colourful lights and all the decorations given to me over 40 years of teaching. Put on every one of them every year!!
That's a lot of ornaments! I bet it is a beautiful sight.
AMA hi have you ever thought of doing clothes if not why😊
♥️
Me or my husband? I’m live/white
My man, therefore what’s up,is fake/color.
I love that idea of lighting from within!
Yikes, I need to read before sending more often. lol
Team fake tree with colored lights.

AMA, is Anna non binary? You keep saying "them" in relation to Anna. No judgement here, just curiously (nosiness) as I have friends with non binary and trans teens. Xx
