One of my favourite Spanish cities, maybe somewhat underrated. Beautifully located near the river, with its roman bridge. Not too large, neither loud nor crowded, no over-tourism. Kind of cosy, traditional university atmosphere, with a tremendous long history. The double cathedral (unfortunately we missed the little astronaut figurine near the main entrance) is a highlight, the richly decorated main square is another. Even the newer part of the city is worth a longer walk. BTW: We also visited Zamora, which is nice town nearby, with lots of roman churches.
