At Bathurst, Peter Brock made it a point after the race to seek out Geoff Russell (#28 Commodore). Brock praised his team for building a very strong engine. Early in the Bathurst race, Brock had come up to lap Russell at Forests Elbow. It took the HDT car until the braking area at the end of Conrod to pass the #28 car, such was its straight line speed that Brock couldn't overcome even with a tow.
This was a nice find. That pretty dayglo orange Commodore is my favourite car ever, due to Bathurst 84 being the only one of Peter Brock's victories I can remember watching as a small child. 87 doesn't count because he crossed the line third.
Absolutely fantastic. You are a champ mate!! Thank you so much for taking the time to upload this. It is some of the best Gp C / 80's stuff I have seen. :)
There is one - (pretty significant) - error in the commentary at the start of this. "The first Sunday in November signalled the end of an era" - inferring this was the last run of the Group C cars - when they actually had another run at the 1984 AGP at Calder Park two weeks later - (which I was proud to be at!) - and I believe a small number ran in Tasmania in not much more than a club event - (Longford? Baskerville?) - a few weeks after that.
Geez mate, where do you get all those fantastic videos. I presume you recorded them all? Many thanks for sharing. I have never seen this before as I missed it back then. Without sounding like a creep, I am checking your channel everyday to see for the latest. While we are on 1984, don't suppose you have the VERY last Group C race from Baskeville, Tasmania in mid December 1984, won by Masterton in his beaut Falcon. I have no idea if it was televised thou.... cheers
As far as I know there was no telecast, but we will do our best to find something.. yes we did record all the footage from back then, great to see that it is appreciated! thanks
Super100MPH Darn, thought so. Pity as Masterton did very well and finally won his first non Amscar race downing both the Moffat Mazda and Fury Bluebird thou the green Falcon and 05 VK were absence. Don't suppose you have the 1983 Oran Park 250 and the AGP support race from say, 1981 to 1984 from Calder Park? Sorry don't wanna to be jumping and begging like a spoilt little brat but geez you do have quite a bit of really good stuff.
Awesome. Those vk group c commdores are my favorite touring cars of all time. Australia was such a different place then. I wish we could have it back.
awesome to see these old videos .the group C era was unbelievable ......
Replacing a gearbox in the grass. How far we’ve come.

Thanks for uploading this, fantastic footage!
Unfortunate for Allan Moffat getting a puncture .
They should never have gotten rid of Group C. Fucksake, it was awesome
Great to see safe racing and reliable falcons...not.

Haha George Fury manning the rattle gun. I notice the complete lack of any safety equipment or procedures in the pits, compared to the modern day.
Gotta laugh at Dick's sheepie covers.
