One really wonder if conservatism is a failed ideology. Political pacifism is really useless.
It's a failed ideology if people like this keep being dishonest about people being arrested for praying or sharing memes.
It's also a failed idealogy if people like this can't handle being called out on dishonesty and delete comments.
Fighting for ideals is bound to wither away and fail. Fighting for order alongside personal interests is the best motivation. No one rebels without incentives.

The purpose of the Republican party has never been functioning as a real conservative opposition and counter force to the Democrats, but merely as a co-driver to make sure they're sticking to the speed limit, don't crash the vehicle outright and not provoke unmanageable political backlash from the people which could dethrone them both, prematurely ending their progressive journey before reaching their common destination.
There common destination looks like a Authoritarian government that micromanages every aspect of society and culture with a illusion ( that bearly believable) of democracy
You have to be very ignorant of history to believe that, given the Republican Party and Democrat Party were obviously mortal enemies when the Republican Party came onto the scene in the 1850s. One of the key planks of the Republican Party's starting platform was abolition of slavery, while one of the key planks of the Democrat Party was the enshrinement and protection of slavery as under the rubric of "property rights and States' rights".
One can argue that a faction of Republicans starting in the 1880s developed as part of the wider growing Progressive Movement of that era (and includes people that some self-described conservatives would consider based today, including Theodore Roosevelt, William Borah, and Robert M. La Follette), which also drew from the Democrat Party too, and that has resulted in parallel strains of ideological cousins of a shared Neo-Marxist Statist ideology that has members in both parties since that time period, but it is obvious that the Republican Party as a whole is not in agreement with it. To say it is, is a Fallacy of Composition.
The threat of, “if you gain this power what if we use it against you” would be more effective if anyone actually thought you would if it happened.

I would agree to some extent but it's certainly more accurate to say the populist right leaning folks are a much more light chasing bunch then the Rino's the Media made it easy to pretend COVID never happened and the Populist right made sure it was anyone who discussed the pandemic faced cancellations to keep the populist energy going the Leftists and Media hate America and the West so the Populist Right decided to hate America and the West for practically the same reasons
