Mount Loki stabs into the sky above the east shores of Kootenay Lake, near Nelson, BC. Its west ridge makes a striking line up the steep pyramidal shaped mountain and a fun and exposed scramble more or less follows this ridge. On this day the swirling clouds and fresh dusting of snow made for an atmospheric feeling. A well made trail leads up there from upper cutbacks on the Portman Creek FSR. Thanks for watching!

Man this brought back memories! I did this a long time ago from Kaslo: Wrapped my backpack in some plastic bags and swam across the lake dragging it. Set up the tent and hiked up the logging road and then summited Loki. Watched the sunset from the peak and made it back to the tent around 3am. I remember having to switch batteries in pitch black and a bird attacking me. Scary 😆 Those were the days! Thanks for making me relive that today ☺️

If your still on the East Shore or if you return I think you would like to check out the Historic Waterline Trail above Riondel. Lots of abandoned heritage features.
I'll have to visit again to check that out!
