  • It's a common belief that engineers have an advantage when writing CAT. Despite this, quite a few non-engineers crack the CAT and land prime spots in b-schools. One of the main reasons for this? Practice and strategy. No matter your background, if you've practised those mocks well enough, chances are, you will be able to bell the CAT. At least that's what Nikith Reddy did when he managed to go from 58 percentile to 92 percentile in mocks. Get a download on CAT tips and tricks from this video featuring Nikith from IIM Kozhikode.

    Nikith Reddy hails from Hyderabad. He did his MBBS from SVS college and is now an MBA student at IIM K. According to him, “MBBS to MBA” is not a switch but a value add to his medical degree. In this video, he takes us through his entire journey from preparing for CAT (while continuing his doctor practice), preparing for Personal Interviews to getting selected by none other than IIM K.
    Nikith starts by talking about his unconventional path of pursuing an MBA degree after doing an MBBS degree. He went on further to express his observation on the shortcomings in the medical business and his ambition to learn and grow said business, rather than just practising in a clinical setting.
    Nikith then talks about how he prepared for CAT. He shares how he was juggling a job as a doctor and simultaneously preparing for CAT. He talks about his initial difficulty in math-related questions and how 3 hours of prep (every day), mock practices and online classes helped him out.
    After that, he talks about preparing for his PI and how knowing your reason behind doing an MBA helps.
    Lastly, he shares how the need for knowledge of business and administration is important for running a business in the medical sector and how an MBA degree will be a value add to his medical degree.
    Important takeaways from Nikith's interview:
    1. Practice is the key for CAT. You need to know your weaknesses and work on them accordingly.
    2. Mocks will tell you where you stand. Know where you stand and then work on things to make yourself better.
    3. Know your pace. Coaching class is not for everyone. Try online coaching or any other source that will help you learn things on your own speed.
    4. A non-engineering student will ace PI if he/she -
    Knows why he/she wants to do an MBA
    Knows about Current Affairs
    5. MBBS is not a waste but a value add to an MBA degree. Medical sector is a challenging yet a growing industry. MBA students would rather enjoy this challenge.

    This RUclips channel has proved one thing to me is, IIMs don't teach bullshit for 18 to 25lacs. Just 22 days away from the CAT 2019 bringing up these videos will no good for CAT19 but maybe for CAT20.

      Private Doctors are not public servants they all have their own right to earn money by their means. Govt. doctors have their means, govt. everyone wants to earn money so why not doctors. They earn their degrees to earn money as well as helping others just like any other degree. This is the what you are saying is same like asking businessmens to donate their whole profit and be a public servant.

      @@Rakz4u8 Nope, it's just that margins are too high in this field compared to any other business. And it is getting even more expensive by the day. Health care "is" a noble profession unlike any other form of business. Less privileged people deserve health care as well.

    • @Rakz4u8
      @Rakz4u8 4 года назад +1

      @@rishabhbhat1997 Bro that I agree with. Health care is a noble profession. But people who learn business to run it aren't exactly investing to get "noble blessings". No one is going to teach social service in a b school to be honest. They teach business and business runs on profits not social welfare.

      @manav2125 4 года назад +4

      Making money out of healthcare isn't necessarily bad. It's just that making it inaccessible to the poorer sections is what generally counts as bad and for this problem to be solved , you need doctors to diversify into the management and policy making kind of sectors, not just confined to hospitals, which is essentially the point he's trying to make in this video.
      But, either way, you don't get to play Robinhood unless you find good ways to steal from the rich :p.
