    Ricki Gilmour, also known as "Gilly," is an Australian transplant to the USA, living in California, working for KYB suspension. Ricki has had a unique relationship with Eli Tomac, working as his suspension technician, off and on, for Eli Tomac's entire Pro Supercross and motocross career. He also helped Dylan Ferrandis win his 2021 Pro Motocross 450 Championship and he's worked with many other top riders.
    Ricki's job never ends, he's at the races on the weekends, traveling to and from the races two days out of the week and he's at the track testing or in the shop working on suspension the other days. When we spoke with Ricki at the 2023 Seattle Supercross, he didn't know where he was going the following week. Either Florida to test with the Star Racing Yamaha team, Colorado to test at Eli Tomac's house, or home to Southern California, to work in the Yamaha shop. In this interview, Ricki tells us about his job and his history working with Eli Tomac from the Geico Honda 250 days to his current program with Star Racing Yamaha.

      also shows what bubba has been saying. Eli's not totally comfortable on the new model yet. I've been saying it all season, we have not seen beast mode. Nobody would touch him if he was 100 percent with his bike. it's got twitches.

Have Ricki watch your back and neck ! Don't let people creep up behind you ! Super cool interview don't get to hear from these guys very much, but they definitely have a huge impact behind the scenes on how successful a rider career can be when everyone is so close in speed that little extra edge makes a huge difference. Definitely a cool story kind of shows how stubborn the factories can be with Kawasaki not wanting to work with this guy Eli kind of prove them wrong I don't see how they can say with 2020 hindsight this guy would not have been a good hire at Kawasaki to work with Eli on suspension when that literally is the most important part of the motorcycle at this top top level.

  • @kylearmstrong1188

    Did Ricky just out Tomac? Sounded like Ricky was saying he thought it was the bike? Tomac didn’t wanna blame the bike so he blamed his neck? Who knows 🤷‍♂️

    • @yamahakid450f
      @yamahakid450f Год назад +2

      You can watch the bike and see its having issues... look in long rhythm lanes, instead of driving through the bike has a weird shake in the bottoms of the transitions, especially when it's rutted, wet and sticky, where other bikes drive right through and they're able to pick up a lot of time on him. Even then he's been good in the tighter stuff and flat(ter) corners. And when he doesn't have those transition issues, he's also great in the whoops, when he does have those issues he also struggles in the whoops.
      The chromoly steel frame/chassis with their flex look the best in those areas, he must be a bit stiff and running really stiff suspension
