    We spent 2-3 hours there in 1979. we intended to melt snow for water but the snow was all pissed on. but we did the mountain anyways...then drove to Yakima the next day rehydrating on rainier beer

    Curious - we were at Rainier earlier in the month of May and we skinned up to Muir. From the looks of your video there seemed to be a lot less snow. Would the conditions at that time allowed you to have skinned up?

      Yes, there were still quite a few people skinning up that weekend. Early in the morning we noticed people struggling a bit as the snow/ice was very firm, but it softened up nicely once the sun started hitting it. Thanks for watching!
