  • One of the most common questions I get asked is, "Tanner, how do I lower humidity in my crawl space?" And if you are a homeowner interested in lowering humidity in your crawl space, then take note of all the steps you see us taking, not only in this finished crawl space project video, but in each, and every single one of our finished crawl space encapsulation projects.
    You will quickly see in our videos, a crawl space dehumidifier is useless by itself. The same way a crawl space vapor barrier is not going to solve your home improvement plans, when it comes to the moisture problems being repaired inside your crawl space.
    It is actually a combination of several of the previous mentioned items, and services. And if these services are performed properly, no matter if you're a diy guy or girl, working hard to fix your own wet crawl space repairs, then you won't have to worry about how to lower humidity in your crawl space any longer!

    Tanner - these are the best crawl space encpasulation videos on the Internet - What are you attached your reinforced poly sheets to the cinder blocks with? I mean, are you using a polyurethane sealant behind the sheets and then screwing the locks in place over it?

    What can you do with a foundation that's has no perimeter block wall, just piers? We have latticework frames between the piers, with wire mesh behind the lattice.

    • @TannerFlowers
      @TannerFlowers  4 года назад

      Make you an attachment strip to run across the top edge, and attach your poly to that stip. Some use treated wood as the attachment strip, but wood will rot in time. A nice galvanized steel attachment strip works best. Sometimes a good piece of treated wood may be your only option.

    What you did looks great but I would never allow flex duct being used as a supply line. 6 inch galvanized pipe with a fiberglass sleeve is a far superior for longevity and practicality.

    Hey Tanner, great video. Just one comment; pretty sure the dehumidifier is not creating "pressurized air" as it's just circulating the existing air.
    What kind of humidistat fans did you use on this job? When the fans are off, are there louvers on the outside that close to prevent humid air from coming back into the crawlspace?
    I think it's a great idea to vent that stale air out, looking for a solution.

    • @TannerFlowers
      @TannerFlowers  4 года назад

      Copy me. You'll be good. The humidistat fans are Tjerlund V2. I believe that's the name of them. And yes, contrary to your thought, the system will be pressurized, if there is no exhaust. I done learned the hard way, so you don't have to. Unless you doubt me. ;)
      And boy that sure has cost people a ton of money over the years.

    O yeah brother !! The only thing I could recommend to take your installation to 150% is to wrap some aluminum or siding on those crawl space doors you make.. O yeah brother it would be the icing on the cake 🎂.. You could even just use cheap soffit panel siding... I run a window , door outfit so I have a brake but if you don't just wrap em in soffit of siding.. Your talking the entrance to your palace brother.. O YeAH macho man out..🍻💨 Snap into a slim Jim.

      @@TannerFlowers thanks for the info. I live in a new construction neighborhood and the builder said to leave the vents open in the summer. Now we have some fungal growth and mild mold on the wood joist. There is an obvious moisture problem but no standing water. Do you think leaving the vents closed could help mitigate some of the moisture issues?

    So in regards to when I’m told that residential building code requires a “termite gap”.. is that requirement met by the gap at the top between the edge of the block & the seal plate? Or is that not even in building codes?

    • @TannerFlowers
      @TannerFlowers  4 года назад

      Can't say. I do not claim to know. But, as far as results go, they speak for themselves. Search "The Truth About Termite Inspections In A Crawl Space" to learn the real real. Thanks for commenting too. I appreciate you tuning in.

      Tanner Flowers Have you had inspections done by a city/county building inspector on crawlspace encapsulations? Like maybe the encapsulation done on new construction before anyone occupies a home? Just curious, as I haven’t really found a definite answer

    • @TannerFlowers
      @TannerFlowers  4 года назад +1

      No. Most all new construction builds will never go to the extent of hiring me. So I do not get much of that type headache.
      I build new construction homes regularly myself.
      Most everything you are told concerning our procedures is bs. Most things you will be attemped to be sold, are complete bs.
      I prefer to deal directly with the homeowner, or business owner. The people truly in the know, they know what's up. The people causing you aggravations, have an hourly job, and a lot of those employees enjoy flossing their "power".
      But...like I said, you will likely never see our team on any new construction build, unless that decision maker behind that project, is planning to stay in that home a long time themselves.
