Nice review. I absolutely love mine! Had it for over a month now. I'm using it as a backlog machine. With the button sticking, it might and idea to take it apart (yea i know, it says DO NOT TAKE APART!) and see if the issue is the button itself and if so, you might be able to just replace the button/buttons. Idk if Asus would allow you do that tho.
Seriously considering buying one of these, been wanting a steam deck and was going to order it yesterday but I’m a very impatient person…there was no options for paying for next day shipping or anything just says 3-5 day shipping…if I’m paying 399-599 for a handheld I’m not waiting longer than 48 hours TOPS! Steam wants payment immediately and I understand that and I’m fine with it but I hate when I buy something online then 2 days later they send it out Soo technically it’s one day shipping even though they had it for 3 days…. But I can get a rog ally right now at Best Buy so I might be making a pickup this afternoon
The sticky buttons was found by linus, but asus said it was suppose to fixed for retail units. You probably got an early shipment 1 that had that issue too
Can anyone tell me how much memory free will you have after all updates and everything ? I want to know how many games can you install from GamePass without the memory card, I'm really interested in buying, great video!
Like I keep asking all my favorite handheld creators: Which one makes the best all in one Switch? What's the one that's the most fun, easy to set up, looks good and works best from one's TV >and< works well just to pick up take on the go for more gaming? And what are the best accessories to make it happen? Bonus Question: How much is it worth it just to spend the same price or less to get as powerful or more powerful than these by going with just a laptop or mini-PC? I have fallen in love with the freedom of PC gaming, but I'm still from console roots. What's the coolest way to get the PC Console gamer experience?
I placed an order for pick up at my nearest Best Buy to pick it up today because they said they were available. I get a call saying that it’s not available. LOL like wtf?
Well the next switch should be backwards compatible with the current switch only issue is how good will they do it also will it be both physical and digital backwards compatible bc certain games needs that like dbd for example it should be lil bit more powerful then the ps4 well going by leaks on that part the backwards compatible was confirmed but like I said idk how it'll be though
i dont have this device but if all the fanboys are to be believed this is „a real windows pc“ so it should work since you can downlod remote play for pc.
Yes you can using chiaki. I got it set up but the volume crackles. On steam deck audio didn't crackle on chiaki but the screen would flash white. Pick your poison I guess.
The only downfall to the ASUS ROG is the OS.. ASUS comes with Windows 11 which is known for restrictions and lack of support.. If there only a way to revert the OS to Windows 10 this device be perfect.. but all in all it’s still better then the steam deck

Awesome video... I came in wanting info on the ROG Ally (wanting one for an overseas trip I'm planning), and I'm coming out of this video NEEDING that Sonic The Hedgehog game controller holder!!! Where can I find one of those?!! @6:15
I had mine for a couple weeks but ended up returning it. It seemed like I was doing more troubleshooting than I was gaming. Went for the steam deck instead. While I wish it had the same power and performance, I’m having a better experience with little to no issues.
I can't even argue with this the only thing man is steamos Is really what saving the steam deck mean that with no disrespect since it's a dedicated software companies can really optimize for it and for steam deck so it's so much easier
But also thought steam deck is a console while rog ally is a pc
You won't say this if you know how to download all the games for free 😂 . The cracked games
Rog a lot better
@@bboyalanleung123 still debatable lol and yes ik how to do that torrents all of it😂 both have pros and cons just all abt taste
Can't argue with this. I don't think I will have an issue since I'm a PC gamer mostly and I'm used to random Windows issues.
I'm doing all kinds of homework on getting a handheld gaming system. I was first looking into Switch and Playstation Portal but so far this one is winning me over. Also learned you can play Playstation games on it??
Z1 is $599.99 and Z1 Extreme is $699.99. Failed to mention that
The VRR is my favorite thing about mine. I rarely find myself picking up my Steam Deck anymore
Lol I tried enjoying it but seriously windows on ally is horrible . Went back to steam deck
@@hk6926 what's horrible about it? It boots straight to all your games and has an end task feature to kill your tabs/games - works flawlessly.
The Display is miles ahead of the SteamDeck’s.
@@hk6926 its better than most linux distros
@@TaiwanTeddy this I agree . Even sound is . Even performance is but the experience you get from SD , more comfort , better ui experience, better battery , sleep feature makes the SD so much better .
3:11 What game is that?
Grate review! It's unbelievable how they fit this stuff in a device this small
About button issue and sleep mode I think you have a faulty unit. I also change mine with a new one via Asus support
Love your videos bro but you lost me when you said it's easier to install emulators on the ally vs the deck
I’m getting a full gaming setup for Christmas and this is what I’m getting instead of a gaming pc and I’m just ganna hook up a monitor keyboard and mice
Saw this at Best Buy I was IMPRESSED to say the least
This is actually super juiced and not limited wttf
I just seen one in best buy it looked dope. and I had to come watch your video to see if it was worth it.
Son wants this for xmas but he is not always where he has wifi connection. Can multiple games be downloaded affectively where you have wifi connection and played ok with out a wifi connection.
A lot of people are returning this device. They say it’s just too buggy
Hey great video! Just wondering what game were you playing at 4:29 looks cool. Definitely getting an Asus Rog Ally!
I believe it's Scarlet Nexus. But I could be wrong.
Just got mine today . Work is keeping me from using it until tomorrow. However this review pushed me to wanting this over the S.Deck
How is it with you? Could you kindly tell me all about your experience and games?
Thanks, this is really helpful
Is there a way that makes it so you have to use my password to log into it?
Thanks for the review! It’s been months now and how do you feel about this product? My co worker is selling his and he don’t have time to use it and I’m interested on it after watching your review. A handheld computer powerful enough to play pc games. As right now I’m playing playing Fortnite and the new avatar pandora box game. Do you think the ROG ALLY would handle it? Thank you 🙏🏽
Does this function like a regular PC, just portable? Like can I use it like a laptop?
Just got mine today. My steam deck was glitching out right out the box. So far my experience with the Rog ally has been flawless
How's yours holding up? Got mine almost a week ago. My open box deal I got was a bust but exchange for new unit has been great. I'm not a techie but I've had no issues. Updates and settings tweaks are not a turn off for me and I keep my temps good.
@@jjayala so far so good. No complaints
@@garythompson1345 thank you very much!
what happens to games you already own on your PC? Can these games be played on the Ally or do you have to buy another version?
This or the Lenovo legion go? Get the rog alley or wait for the Lenovo legion go? Any reason to wait for the legion go?
Still waiting on mine to get delivered, hopefully NLT Friday
You probably got an early shipment 1 that had that issue too
Does it pass as a computer? How good is the X?
Does this only use gaming for steam (steam link) or actually run steam games directly?
Can anyone tell me how much memory free will you have after all updates and everything ? I want to know how many games can you install from GamePass without the memory card, I'm really interested in buying, great video!
That’s a good question
Wait so I can literally use this as a handheld console/PC but also like an actual Pc on a moniter?
Like I keep asking all my favorite handheld creators: Which one makes the best all in one Switch? What's the one that's the most fun, easy to set up, looks good and works best from one's TV >and< works well just to pick up take on the go for more gaming?
And what are the best accessories to make it happen?
Bonus Question: How much is it worth it just to spend the same price or less to get as powerful or more powerful than these by going with just a laptop or mini-PC?
I have fallen in love with the freedom of PC gaming, but I'm still from console roots. What's the coolest way to get the PC Console gamer experience?
Why would they not allow you to get cellular service on this for internet?
I missed this vid I commented recent about you not doing handhelds 😅 good stuff!
does it have saved game progress sharing with desktop?
asus tax and lack of discount make it double of price of steam deck.
Ok
What’s the most affordable way to play rts games like dawn of war on the rog ally ?
What do you do if the joystick or one of the gaming buttons stops working? That’s my main concern.
I placed an order for pick up at my nearest Best Buy to pick it up today because they said they were available.
I get a call saying that it’s not available. LOL like wtf?
Hopefully the next Nintendo handheld has similar specs and features as well as backwards compatibility with Switch games (digital & physical).
@@nani.df.Nintendo game chips are basically, if not literally, SD cards.
So the cards themselves will likely physically by the same.
Lol
So ps remote play works on this? I saw the icon on the display. I’m a ps5 owner so that would be great
i dont have this device but if all the fanboys are to be believed this is „a real windows pc“ so it should work since you can downlod remote play for pc.
There are videos on how to setup ps5 remote play, so yes you can, though i have not done it
Yes you can using chiaki. I got it set up but the volume crackles. On steam deck audio didn't crackle on chiaki but the screen would flash white. Pick your poison I guess.
My question is does it have controller support
So you can download Roma to this ? Like can you save the game and continue later ?
Can u play StarCraft / Warcraft Or command an conquer on it?!!!!!
The screem shocked whene you set it one ? 😮
What’s better for Wii U games this or the steamdeck?
Do you download the games or is it just cloud gaming??
dope review
Im thinking about getting rid of my ps5 for the ally i don't have have a 120 hz tv so would the ally be a smart move
Sleep and wake-up mode, Windows had how long to fix this?
Great Video!! I agree with everything u said 100%
Cracking content dude
The only downfall to the ASUS ROG is the OS.. ASUS comes with Windows 11 which is known for restrictions and lack of support.. If there only a way to revert the OS to Windows 10 this device be perfect.. but all in all it’s still better then the steam deck
It’s not that hard. Create a windows bootable media and hook it up to a dock with a keyboard and boot from the usb instead of the ssd to install windows 10. It’s not that hard. Also windows 11 works fine.
Installed it in my stem deck lol
Can you hook it up to a monitor and connect a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard to it?
Yes, you can even connect a tv via Bluetooth like any regular pc with windows.
