@@EnriqueMagana-lz6cv Si lo plantas a nivel con el tiempo y el agua se comprime la tierra y termina por debajo del nivel y en tiempos de lluvia puede crear un charco de agua y lo ahoga. Así en lomita como yo lo plante va terminar al raz del nivel. La razón que es mejor no incluir materia orgánica en el hoyo es porque al descomponerse el aserrín de madera puede propagar enfermedades. ✌️🥑 Gusto en conoserte gracias por el apoyo

How do you think the GEM will perform during the lower temperature months in your area of CA? I’m considering planting one next year. I have two type Bs. I was considering Fuerte, but I wanted to try the GEM in Zone 9A.
@@EffectivImmediately I've planted GEMs throught out the 831 Northern Central Coast Salinas, Watsonville, Santa Cruz area and on their 1st winter there was 1 night at 32⁰. I was able to frost cloth blanket trees in Santa Cruz and Watsonville ran out of time and was unable to reach the southern most ones in Salinas they all did well. I would baby them for their first 2 or 3 winters with frost cloth or maybe even an Amazon Greenhouse tent depending on how low its expected to dip. Once established any frost die back serves as a natural prune and they should be fine and bounce back in spring. As per Greg Alder's input he recorder several night below freezing at like 27⁰ and 29⁰ for a couple hours and the trees survived with mild damage. Furthermore checkout Johnny's World Avocado grow operation his trees were cover in snow and he was expecting fruit drop and major damage and he went on to actually harvest some fruit. GEM will always want to set fruit as you can see this tree in a sleeve was holding but I would recommend you take them off the first 2 years in ground. BL 516 LUNA is dark ripening B-type hass like also upright compact breed to tolerate heat if I'm not mistaken. Fruit smaller than GEM ✌️🥑 thanks for watching

The 1st delivery of GEMs this year were dated 09/28/23 making them less than a year old.

@@Ivanc1218 congrats on your GEM. Check in with Far West Nursery that's where I bought the last can of GO NATURAL paint in the color TREE TRUNK BROWN. We at San Lon Garden Center only carry it in color white. A customer also told me that APTOS LANDSCAPE SUPPLY has it. I prefer the color brown for a more natural look if you cant find it a quart of interior flat paint also works from any of the hardware supply stores.
Hey bro I live between Stockton n Fresno. I’ve been looking into buying an avocado tree. For my back yard. What’s the variety you would suggest if I’m going to plant just one tree?
I would highly recommend GEM its an upright compact tree ideal for us home growers. The tree performs well it's somewhat self-fertile and it'll want to set fruit early don't let it I take off fruit for the first 2 years in ground. Fruit is dark ripening Hass like but can be bigger. Passes the easy peel test and less alternate bearing more consistent. Thanks for watching hopefully you find what you're looking for.✌️🥑
Yeah I’ve been trying to do homework on them lol I was kind of between the hass n the lamb hass but the more I’ve been looking I to the gem it might be the way to go. I’ve found a Monrovia hass here at my local nursery but I kinda have my doubts because of the size it is I actually found a gem but really small might have to check out San Lorenzo nursery
