how is he getting paid to review this stuff yet he knows nothing about them and is CONSTANTLY shilling for the newer stuff just irks me. Might as well ask someone off the street what they think about it. They couldn't possibly be less informed than this ass clown and at least they are honest
What I love about these vintage comparisons is that, of course, price and age are mentioned, but more importantly they’re judged at their base level. There is no judgement for the lack of piece diversity due to the relatively young age of the company. He’s always super fair to the vintage sets. Great as always!
The 2020 version is wayyyy better than the 2002 version. Just like you mentioned, the way the mail actually comes out of the fireplace like in the extended version of Philosopher’s Stone is indicative of the increased accuracy Lego has been able to put into these newer sets. The coloring on everything is vastly improved (you mentioned skin tones and correct height), but every detail is more true to the film adaptations now. The bars on Harry’s Window, Doby (and the cake!!), and wow that cupboard under the stairs are all just beautiful!
Sidebar to my previous comment, I also really love when something about the vintage set is actually better than a modern set. Of course modern Lego innovation is leaps and bounds ahead of the vintage stuff, but there is still lessons to be learned from those older sets. Love it!
the only problem the newer set has is the right/left facing. when the camera shot shows harry's room under the stairs, its on the RIGHT in the camera view, whereas in the model, its on the LEFT.... and the stairs are in the wrong orientation... the bottom of the stairs are suppose to be by the front door....whoever designed the set wasn't paying attention to the movie....
I like the color scheme of the original a lot more but personally I think the cupboard under the stairs is actually a really cool addition since they kind of made it a dual purpose first and second year set although it would be interesting to see like a highly detailed but small USC version of Harry's cupboard under the stairs or even the dursley's house
but aesthetically 2020 takes the cake... so whats the point in the comparison? XD the "but aesthetically 2020 takes the cake" part was copied from the description. i actually prefer 2002
I wouldn't exactly call the old house an "ugly" set, as much as I'd call it an "old" set. I remember seeing '02 Vernon's head in the Build a Minifig stall at my local LEGO Store as recent as two years ago. Strange how long it lasted
Hello epic gamers Ask MandR: Out of all lego Harry Potter sets which is your favorite, which is your least favorite, and which set was unnecessary to have made.
The newer sets definetely are more detailed and better executed, but man, I don't know why the older sets have so much more charm to me... I guess it's just nostalgia. Also, I think I'm the only person who prefers yellow coloured skin, it's more "Lego looking" to me.
Keep up the Harry Potter reviews! A rumor list for 2021 would be great from you. Then we can complain about the lack of First Wizarding War sets and the focus on original septolgy sets.
At 2:57, you say that the back of the original Vernon Dursley looks exactly like the original episode 2 Anakin. Incorrect! Anakin had a cape! Haha, this comment was mostly just a joke, I know that you meant the minifig itself.
@average teenaged flexer if your just gonna disrespect our opinions then why dont you just piss off and go play with your precious 2020 model? we prefer 2002, we dont care about accuracy and theres nothing you can do about it. now good day.
The 2002 sets really remind me of the lego system sets from the 80s. Although the new one is more accurate, the old one has this weird charm with it's simplicity that old sets have. The one thing I will say is that I'm glad they got better designs on the minifigures on the newer sets, the faces on those minifigs are god awful.
The old box art tho lol. Harry just vibing in the corner
He looks like he would be on a Anti Bullying Poster

The printed cloth on Harry's bed is not the Invisibility Cloak. It's his Hogwarts cape.

Vernon Dursley’s 2002 minifigure head is also found in the LEGO City theme!
So, where the Luke's landspeeder comparison at?

Nostalgia will be a HUGE diffrence decid3ing the best
Not really
I’ve been waiting for this :)
Vernon Durlsey=Anakin Skywalker, you can't convince me otherwise
Harry’s new hairpiece looks awesome
you can tell this is from a while ago no 501sr stack or new updated shelf
You know this was film 3 months ago by looking Ryan's background
I was think about that lol
I want BOTH to combine for one most fantastic build !
Yay! I have waited this viedo from the review!
Out of all the 2020s this was the set I was least excited about. Harry's bedroom just sold me. Great review thank you!
the only problem the newer set has is the right/left facing. when the camera shot shows harry's room under the stairs, its on the RIGHT in the camera view, whereas in the model, its on the LEFT.... and the stairs are in the wrong orientation... the bottom of the stairs are suppose to be by the front door....whoever designed the set wasn't paying attention to the movie....
Cool video, but is this a re-upload? I feel like I had already seen it a few months ago... lol
that designer interview I watched yesterday was the best interview I've ever watched

New MandR video yay!!!!
I love your dead serious reviews e. g. at 9:39 and 2:51 😂😂😂
Loved the review
The room under the stairs is soooooooo cool in the new set!
but aesthetically 2020 takes the cake...
so whats the point in the comparison? XD
the "but aesthetically 2020 takes the cake" part was copied from the description. i actually prefer 2002
Also, anyone notice that the music from the outro was the same from the brickbuster on the bricklink youtubers?
I think I'm the only person who prefers the old Dobby head mold 😅. For all it's flaws, to me at least it resembles the character far better.
I wouldn't exactly call the old house an "ugly" set, as much as I'd call it an "old" set.
I remember seeing '02 Vernon's head in the Build a Minifig stall at my local LEGO Store as recent as two years ago. Strange how long it lasted
Made the new privet drive yesterday and I didn't expect it to be so tiny. Beautiful set though.

Why's this video in the Lego Star Wars set comparison list playlist?
I used to want that old set from 2002. I just liked the flying car lol
Hi Ryan, I finally got my membership hopefully I can keep this for 2 years holy shit (mind my language) I just realised I kept my 2 month badge ty bro
Glad it didn't screw anyone over & than you so much! :)

0:13 when was this recorded?
Do diagonally next pls
The interior of the 2002 set gives me liminal spaces vibes...like how it’s a house with just a staircase and a desk inside...
i wonder if lego will release a bigger version that includes the rest of the house.
I actually prefer the old box design with the fancy font and hogwarts brick theme.
I think you could modify the newer car pretty easily to fit 2 figures
Anyone count how many times he said 'leaps and bounds better'? 🤣
Hi MandR I am a big fan
Is this a reupload???
Do a comparison between the 2020 Diagon Alley and the 2011 Diagon Alley!
I think I like the newer set more. It just looks more accurate and better.
hello, tomorrow its my birthday. Wich Star wars set recomend me to buy?
The 2002 Ron is more book accurate though because he’s tall and has freckles
Even as a kid I knew that house in the 2002 version was incredibly lame, but I absolutely loved the Weasley car. It holds up decently enough.
I turned the new one into an Irish Restaurant MOC!
Older Dobby's face mold is more detailed and captures his appearance better.
Whats up studs!!!!
I think that the 2020 Privet Drive set should’ve used midlegs for Ron and Harry.
1:26 woah LEGO whatcha doin
For a 2002 set its super good

how are you saying with a straight face that the midget minifigs are ''leaps and bounds'' better than the classic ones...
2002 ron wiesly looks like the type of guy to say you like jazz
Nice
I think that the old car makes it all worth it
You vs. the guy she told you not to worry about
nice!
I like yellow characters better. It's a pain these days to have to get yellow parts for newer characters so they blend in with all my other lego sets.
You should do more real versus fake Lego comparisons
nah, he should just buy all the fake lego he can find and destroy it.
