The salifert test kit is more accurate than the API the whole purpose of testing water is for accuracy for testing ammonia nitrite API is okay for testing out when a tank is cycling but I find the salifert test kits more accurate for the other important test like phosphate and nitrate
i think all API itest kits are okay except for the difficulty to differentiate the color change...during morning, noon or evening ... and the nitrate test takes approx 8 to 10min to do 1test. What happens if someone have more than 20 tanks...it will take awhile to complete wish there is a faster approach
Thank you so much for watching. When I have multiple tanks I will take a specimen cup of water from each and line up the tests at the same time. Yes it does take a while unfortunately.
@@ewaldsreef if u use Hanna Nitrate kit...it will take easily 20min each you can't line up i told the sales man...I would end up needing to hire a professional water quality tester as it will take whole day for testing when I eventually have 40 tanks!!😆😆😆
I agree, but looks like we’ve been wasting time following the instructions! Just get almost 5ml of water, nearly 10 drops of bottle 1, couple of shakes, a few drops of bottle 2 and there you go, close enough is good enough 😁
I have been using api but I think I am switching to salifert for nitrates, alk and phosphates. Reason is it dosnt have a low range. I freak out if I see 10 and do a water change. I do them everyweek anyway but I am trying to get down to maye 2 and api goes from 0 to 5 to 10. Shame it dosnt have the 2. I watched a brs video n a lot of the brands and all of them did besides api. I know they have a bad rep so not sure how accurate they are but There very simple and I like that they are all liquid and also love the little carrying tray with a handel so I can take it to my tanks in different rooms ver easily!
You have to follow the directions exactly if it says shake for 30 seconds u-shape for 30 seconds and that one test you said three minutes you got to wait 5 minutes you have to follow the directions exactly like they tell you or the test will not be accurate personally I have to API nitrates it's telling me mine is the second color but the sulfur is telling me I have none I will only use the API for like nitrites and ammonia but other than that I don't trust them
Exactly that's why there's a directions and if you don't follow them Test Kit directions you won't get a accurate result the nitrate test kit he did you have to wait 5 minutes he said three minutes I have the same kit if you're going to do a test do it the right way

Salifert is definitely more accurate but depending on the purpose the API works well.
I agree.

Thank you so much for watching. If you want the higher accuracy I agree the Salifert is the way to go.
Great video

Lol he is following his own instructions. Don't listen to this guy lool. Follow the instructions exactly like they tell you
@@danmartis I totally agree with you Merry Christmas
That was 3 drops lol
I make plenty of mistakes. Definitely possible.
Didn't shook it for 30 seconds, worthless video. There's a reason to follow those instructions.
