A workers knife; the Barlow. Used by millions loved by the same amount. Everything you need in a work knife. This is a nice version, modern handle material, ancient design.
Thrifty I agree with you the shield looks tacky on pocket knives I Owen the exact model I love Barlow knives and swaybacks for my whittling projects greetings from the uk 🇬🇧 I subscribe to you 🐾🦊🇬🇧
Levine's guide is great, but some of the knife descriptions are all over the place in the book. Great read & lots of illustrations. They aren't easy to find & can get expensive. I got mine a couple years ago at a used book seller & I think I paid around 40 dollars for it.
I lucked out and found one at a decent price. Fun to look at and see everything I'll never afford, but a lot of history and informative. Thanks William.
Thank you TK, a great review, you have surpassed even your high standards, in this really comprehensive look at this fantastic knife and great photography as well, not much else to say other I will buying this knife shortly, after considering all of your concise comments and observations. Take care Sam

@@ThriftyKaniffy Hi TK, no problem, I have only one Micarta scaled knife and it is ok, it has a rubbery feel to it. I so impressed with your slideshow as I was able see how well polished the micarta looks, I really like the Barlow pattern, it is true, that what people say in the knife community, that what you don’t like today you will love tomorrow, as up to a couple of months ago, I was not fussed with the Barlow pattern at all and only had one Barlow, now I have four, soon to be five, this Barlow is now in my basket along with RR Cub in green smooth bone, now just waiting for pay day. Take care Sam TK I have now got this knife, (7th November) very pleased, thank you👍
I love the “RT” bolsters and they shine the most on large ones as on the Barlow. They remind me of my old ‘69 Dodge Charger that had RT flashes on the doors!
Very nice. I also prefer a Barlow without a shield, though I like bolster stamps (not the big R, though). I actually had this one in my cart on Amazon but ended up going with the RR Worm Groove Barlow ($15.11 shipped from Chicago Knife Co.), which has beautiful scales and no shield. I'll probably get this one now. I didn't realize these were carbon steel. Thanks for the review! :)
I’ve just ordered myself one but it is described as stainless steel 🥺. Oh well it will still have a place with its brothers. Thanks for the heads up, great review brother 🐸😎👍.
@@ThriftyKaniffy I ordered my Barlow soon after seeing your video and it arrived at lunchtime the next day. I was expecting a nice knife after your review but the quality of this Barlow is spot on. It is without doubt the best fit and finish of any RR I own. Thanks for the tip off brother 👍.
That’s a nice piece I always try to pick up the Barlows…… but then again I just about pick up every rough Ryder they come out with……. I have so many collections within collections lol anyway I’m not sure if I was you do a review on any Queen City knives!!!!! Omg I know it’s Chinese but I love them knives they have a nice selection of them I highly recommend them!!!!!! Thanks so much stay well out there!!!!!!
This is a nice one, but I’m holding out for a grandma barlow, ample and comfortable at 3.75-4 inches closed, single spear blade, sawcut bone covers, no big R, no shield.
Good concise review. I have a couple of the RR Barlows, and they are nice enough. I don’t carry them much because I have a really hard time with the pen blade, it sits so low I can’t use it.
Great video. Nice knife but spoilt a little bit by the stamp on the bolster and also the the pinched bolster, The plainer the Barlow the better i think as it has a great and simple lines and it is a statement that says i am a worker knife.. One to keep in mind for my collection though. Thanks
I like this one. But on mine the main blade nick is a little low so you have to insert your finger nail and kind of pry it up. Don't own any other small two bladed RR barlows, except the Celestial razor barlow, to compare. Still enjoy both though.
This one is the same way, made me wish my thumbnail was longer. Haven't picked up any Celestials yet. I'm a little disgruntled over their similarity to the Copper Swirl, but I do like the razor Barlow and jumbo Stockman.

I think you are about to change my mind on Chinese knives. Looks well made😊
They won't be perfect, but the RR are exceptionally well done for what they cost. Thanks, James.

Ah cool, ok. Glad, you like it.
No shield. Now to get a proper embossing on the Barlow. Looks pretty cool.
Hopefully just a matter of waiting from what I hear. Thanks Tobias.

I just picked one of these up brand new in the box from a friend of mine. Awesome video thanks

You must be a mind reader. Recently watched your review of them and picking up the Wharcliffe as a result.
I like this series. The half hawk is my favorite.
The blue micarta handles in this series are well done.

Thanks. That is one good looking Barlow.
I'm a fan of it. Nice looking knife. Cheers Durango.
Nice piece.
Thanks for watching Rick.
Excellent review TK! Thinking about picking this one up!
Awesome, Boston. I was happy to hear how much you are liking the Barlows. Definitely one of my favorite knife patterns.

When I carry a barlow the pen blade seems to get used more. I have no idea why. Good video.
Thanks. Its a handy sized blade, and easier to open than the main blade on this particular knife. (Nail nick is buried a bit)
That is a beautiful looking knife 👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you like it Robbie.

I have the same problem with my rr barlows. This issue should never exist at any price point.
I'm surprised no comment about the positioning of the nail nick on the main blade. Yours has the same problem I've seen on every one of these.
It was mentioned in the comments here somewhere. A little tricky to open, a longer nail required. Thanks Rockets.
Barlows should always be free of shields. This is a very good piece. I'll try to find one.
They do look pretty good sans shield. Thanks ihopetowin.
Barlowed, haha! Watching this makes me want this knife really bad, man. You'e a bad influence ;)
Pretty sharp looking Barlow. They didn't billboard this one.
Nice knife!
Thanks Jimmy.
🤔 Maybe i need to buy a Barlow 😅 I'm more of a Canoe and Trapper guy tbh... Greetings from Germany 🙂
Thanks Crosswalker, welcome to the channel. I like Canoes as well.
How is the t10 steel?I haven’t seen anyone do a comparison to case cv just curious.
Time will tell. Always liked the way Case CV held up, so would be tough to beat.
