My Osu story: Ever since Project Diva 2nd came out I was obsessed with playing every rhythm game I could get my hands on: Project Diva, SIF, Bandori, Parappa, etc. However, I always felt intimidated by the difficulty of Osu because of its different format from most rhythm games. This was until I just recently started developing a fanmade Beatles rhythm game, which I am still working on, and thinking up beatmaps for it. I get a notification on my phone: “New top play on pp farm map growing in popularity: It Won’t Be Long- the Beatles”. For some reason, this is what got me to be like *THIS IS A SIGN-*

6:30 I started playing Osu! back in march, because for some reason i thought it would help me improve flicking in Valorant, and to a very small point it did. But now, i play it just to improve, bought a tablet and everything, went from 2.7mil to 1.1mil rank in 2 months. not sure if it really means anything but its still brought me joy. knowing that I could barely play 1-2 star maps just 2 months ago, and now i can play and hold onto high 3 star, low 4 star maps with a 100-160bpm. Thing is, I just got my tablet last week, so Im still ironing out the kinks, and its hard making the switch from mouse to tablet, but im already getting the hang of it pretty well.

    My long osu journey:
    >See people playing dance dance revolution at arcade part of movie theatre, think its cool. Get it and a plastic mat on ps2
    >Get good, start going to the arcades and make longterm friends with the regulars at the ddr machine
    >They upgraded ddr machine to in the groove! Skill blowing up
    >Download stepmania 3.95, play index to practice for the arcade
    >Learn to play askl instead of index finger only on arrow keys. Hard song megapack just released. Compete with ddr friends for highest scores on stepmania
    >We all quit for various reasons - nearly 10 year break. Itg machine was removed from the arcades because all the sensors were too worn down and they refused to do any service or cleaning to the machine ever so it eventually fell in disrepair. Closest rhythm game machine is hours away now.
    >Hear about osu from a friend, download it and play a few rounds
    >This sucks. All the difficulty comes from aiming my mouse not from tapping to the rhythm. Barely feels like a rhyhm game compared to vsrg's
    >Find out it has a mania mode thats like an updated stepmania with good online infrastructure.
    >Fell back in love for half a year, trying to grind my way to top 1000 global. About 300 away and I start burning out. It's not fun anymore and physically tiring.
    >Soft retired. Just play casually for fun when I feel like it, maybe 20 mins every few days. Don't care I just passed into 4000 rank and still decaying.
    >Bought a sound voltex controller and torrented a cracked arcade rip of the latest sound voltex. It's amazing, my second favorite rhythm game besides in the groove. Highly recommend if you have $200 to blow

I started on osu! because I thought it would be interesting starting to enjoy a rhythm game in middle 2020, I played for quite a bit, like 3-4 months, got like rank 700-750k and convinced my parents to buy me a tablet for "school purposes" (I was doing designer course)
So, after about 2 months I quit the course to focus on school (I was on High School at the time) and stopped playing osu! for like 7-8 months... literally... but everything changed when I graduated this year and went back into practicing my aiming and tapping. I'm now 600k and sadly not fc'ing most 4* maps
But I'm looking forward to improving and getting a high rank while enjoying the game 😁

What happened was in 2020, I started getting into mania rhythm games like robeats, and then I remembered osu! and how knobbelboy talked about it in a GD stream, So then I was like, "Okay, I wanna try it." And then I retry spammed for a 10 pp play. At least I improved after I decided, "Oh hey, I need to rehab because I am getting 70% on every single map I am playing, and at rank 480k, that isn't very good." And now my average acc is like 94.4 from multiple plays ranging between around 97% acc to like.. plays with 1 or 2 100's. However somehow I am doing this while going from 475k to 454k in about 2 days.

I downloaded it thinking it looked fun and maybe it could help with my mouse aim for first person shooter games like COD and Valorant.... after about a month or 2 of playing with mouse and watching BTMC and KoiFishu videos I finally got that one tablet that everyone says is the absolute worst tablet... then I got the wacom 472 and have been using that ever since! Been playing since this summer and I feel like i'm progressing rather quicklyl... I play FPS games way less and osu! way more now

A couple of months I was driving to a doctors appointment and while waiting at a train crossing I saw Whitecats pfp spray painted with “Whitecat” written below it on the train. I will never forgive myself for not getting a picture of it

I started 2019 when i wanted to make some custom Roblox RoBeats 4K Mania Maps. I didn't even know what osu! was until then. The Guide told me to get osu! and map there. So i thought: Well, it's just an Editor. Oh was i wrong. After literally 1 week of not realising that there is osu!std and not only osu!mania, i instantly started getting hooked in it. From there on i started improving. And now i just play Lazer all day long xD

I started because I missed playing games with a friend that has a crap laptop. All he could play was Osu at the time... with a track pad. Now I own a tablet, tablet glove, keypad and I bought a monitor just for Osu. Valorant in 60hz is acceptable, but only the best for clicking dem circles.

I started playing osu! because i have been wanting to play it for like 3 years after one of my friends talked a lot about it but i never could because i had no pc. now here 3 years later i got a laptop for my college and well... it is mainly used as an osu! machine. really need to get a keypad though because im scared of breaking my laptop keys at this point.

i found osu bc i randomly remembered a few years back when i'd see like so many people on discord all playing it and i wanted to know what it was. i instantly loved it and over a year later that hasn't changed i still genuinely love this game

Late comment but I started on osu!droid to improve my reaction time on Modern Combat 5 and just in general wanted something to be good at.
Learned about osu! on pc in 2017 and made an account on Ripple in 2018. I thought Ripple was the main server and found it weird barely anyone was online.
Then I learned about Bancho in 2019, made an account and here I am today.

I started playing osu last year in march thinking: oh, this game will make my aim in csgo better, and then i just quit csgo for almost a year. Got supreme in csgo when i come back so i think osu! is a aim training game
