I couldn't believe I saw these beautiful cane accent chairs being thrown out, so I had to bring them home with me. In this video I restore two vintage velvet chairs to bring back some of their original charm, as well as make a few DIY changes a transform a small drink table that I thrifted. ✨

What do you think? Should I break out the green screen for more skits in future videos? 🤣😅

My heart hurts thinking of people throwing such beautiful furniture away. I'm so glad you spotted that man and rescued these chairs from the landfill. I love that you honored the beauty of the original chairs and didn't feel the need to cover all of the wood with chalk paint and reupholster the seats for no reason.

You should never apologize for making an “ antique” your own. It was in an antique shop being passed up by hundreds of people without a second glance. You took something and made it beautiful in your own way! Nice job and I adore all of your videos!!😃

Haha yes! He didn't even bother asking any of the "higher ups" either. (He also later told me he took a coffee table home that was going to be thrown out too)

Love, love, love the table!! You have such good ideas. It came out beautifully!!! I also took notes during this video. I have some tables that I am sure will benefit from Restor-a-Finish and Feed-n-Wax!! Can’t wait and thank you so much for the good idea!!🤞🏻The chairs really turned out great and the velvet….👍🏻

On old upholstered furniture, vacuum it first and then use Folex. It's a winning combo. You should apply the Feed & Wax to the caning too. Nice projects!

I just realized I forgot to mention in the video I vacuumed the chairs 🤦🏼‍♀️ That was the FIRST thing I did when I got them home. I will have to try Folex, and thanks for the tip on the Feed & Wax, I'm definitely going to do that!

The fabric is really still pretty dirty. I would try an upholstery cleaner, like a Bissel little green machine. The wood looks amazing.

Great advice to start with the gentlest method and only work up to stronger methods as and where needed.

Yes. If you happen to get your carpets cleaned you can add the chairs to the work for less money. Otherwise getting it professionally cleaned will cost over $100 however when added to a room it’s a lot less.

Glad you were able to get the chairs! 🙂 They're great! I'm shocked every time which beautiful (and most of the time good) things people throw away. The bottom part of the table reminds me of an old cloth rack 😁 The marble top is a great idea. I think the wood colour of the chairs and table (nearly) matched? I would left it that colour or used a matching wood stain. I'm wondering if there is a wood stain for your paint colour available.

I definitely could not let those chairs go to the trash! At the very least, they should have been donated. I'm glad I can give them a new home. I do like the idea of re-staining the table too. A gel stain or Polyshades would achieve a similar look without paint!

Because I experienced bed bugs once in my life, I would ALWAYS first check if there are bedbugs on second hand furnitures. But yeah, second hand is a nice thing.
