While Golda herself is an extraordinary woman, who more people should know about, I saw this movie last night and thought it failed to deliver and actually did her a disservice. For those new to her and unfamiliar with her story it gave absolutely no context for all the great things she had accomplished in her past prior to the war, which I only learned about through my own research afterwards. The movie was very one-dimensional and was truly some of the worst storytelling I've ever experienced. I don't know how someone could botch a movie on a great real life person,, but they did. While I would highly recommend for people to learn more about Golda,I would not recommend they do it from this movie. Sadly, they portray her as a far lesser woman than she actually was. There are much better videos about her life here on RUclips that I will actually provide more depth and breadth to who she was and that are actually worthy of someone's time.

The movie focuses on Yom Kippur war.
It's not a "Lifetime" type of movie with a full timeline of her life.
There are RUclips videos about that.

@@grim_2000 There didn't have to be, but it failed to give any context about her life. After all the movie was called Golda

that's true, but you're literally criticizing movie for what it's not.
      It doesn't have to be.
'Darkest Hour' is not providing context for Churchill either, for example

I'm criticizing the movie because it was some of the worst storytelling I have ever ever seen,

They could have provided a one minute highlight of her past successes, instead they highlight what a chain-smoker she was. It was very lazy storytelling and after watching it myself I now know why most of the reviews of this movie are so bad. I'll definitely not be visiting this channel again or trusting any of their recommendations after this.

I love your channel, I’ve been following it for years. But I just have to say that I’m not sure how not having served in the IDF would have made Golda Meir less of a leader. She had plenty of experience as Foreign minister, with the Suez Canal crisis, the 6-day war, and the Munich massacre. If anything, it was the IDF who failed, through their own hubris, to inform her in time. And it was her strength and the sheer ability to convince the US to help that won the war in the end. I do agree with you that being a woman made the patriarchal society judge her. And to this day that patriarchy is still make life miserable and dangerous for women, and not only women, just look at what Netanyahu and his alliance with religious fanatics is doing to Israelis - and Palestinians now.

We couldn’t agree more. The IDF comment was said about how others may have perceived her because of rampant sexism, not our own opinions. Thanks for following and for your feedback! :)
