Cheesy Gins....whoops Grins :) Very informative.... Please keep it that way and please dont sell out! The gentle humble way is a nice way to present. Thank you.
So nice to see a 'van life' video where it doesn't go on about being able to 'park up anywhere'. There are good places that don't cause issues, and well, not such good places that give van owners a bad rep. Glad you enjoyed the Uists. Next time, try Harris and Lewis (although the driving isn't very van friendly). Even more spectacular beaches, mountains and islands scattered like confetti in the lochs.
Absolutely! We are very passionate about educating how to live responsibly and in balance with the local area ☺️ thanks for the suggestion we can’t wait to go back 😁
Uist sounds and looks amazing. I was talking to a Skye resident at the weekend. They appear to be 2 types on Skye. Those who benefit from tourism and those who hate it. She claimed its ruined the Island. Beauty spots are destroyed by all the crowds. Her friends have started erecting signs telling non residents they aren't welcome and putting rocks and posts down to deter wild campers and van lifers. It's refreshing to hear The Hebrides haven't been affected in the same way.
Absolutely beautiful place. I was born in Scotland (Govan). However, i need to say ur both braver than me i could feel that cold water from Coffs Harbour. Love your videos.
I was born and bred in England and moved to NZ in 2004, and the closest I got to Scotland was Berwick when I was based in Durham! I sooo regret never going to Scotland!
I've lived on most of the islands in outer Hebrides . Orkney and Shetland . eriskay is great also Harris if I had to settle on one definitely Harris. Although I live in Scotland now . Not native . I want so badly to travel Ireland also. But the beaches in Hebrides are so white and beautiful
Fabulous video both. It is just so spectacular out there. 10 out of 10 for all the parkups. Waking up to views like that are awesome. Keep loving the adventure Both
Hi guys just watched your video and loved it love seeing different places in Scotland but you guys are crazy no way would i jump in cold water like that love the video keep them coming
You definitely need to go back and do Harris and Lewis - and why not Barra & Vatersay too - and then maybe a Western Isles Book...? They've all got that lovely white sand and clear water, don't worry!
@@highlands2hammocks we also watched @goingthewholehogg recently in the outer. We love the raw beauty because that's what we are used too. They too show off Scotland very well.
Great video - you’ve added another destination to our to do list. But get yourselves to Lewis & Harris - Luskentyre beach is to die for (take advantage of the Lewis trust parking). Also Harris gin distillery in Tarbert is great and makes the finest gin - take the offer of the sugar kelp in your gin. Heavenly!
Just discovered you two. Love it! Love your enthusiasm and the very well produced videos and mega scenery... always a right tonic watching you. Keep it up and very best wishes. Dave
Hi Gemma and Campbell, another fantastic vlog. There was part of my work I was involved with more than 40 years ago all depended on Cal Mac to the outer Islands. Outstanding vlog. do we live in West Sussex possibly because we are 150 mitres from the sea. Nothing like a dance a few drams especially if is it a Glen Grant. Regards Crawford
The Outer Hebrides are wonderful, Some fabulous campsites on the Uists as well as great wildcamping spots, You have so many more great beaches to discover. And don't miss Barra and Vatersay. The tombolo beach on Vatersay combines the Caribbean on one side with the wild Atlantic on the other. Great drone footage: brings a new perspective. Thanks for a lovely film.
Great video guys. The outer Hebrides is a stunning place where I have spent a lot of time there. I was lucky enough to work on South Uist on and off for 6 years firing off Rapier missiles. Really enjoyed this video and it looks like you both really enjoyed it but 2 days is not enough. So many other places you can visit but I am sure you will be back. Looking fwd to your next adventure.
Must have been so strange to live and work out there! Remote and peaceful compared to the mainland ☺️ glad you enjoyed it! We have more trips out there planned next year
Hi guys, hope your both well, I love the outer Hebrides it's my fav place in Scotland, you must visit Frobost Headland & Beach on South Uist I was there in February and even though it was bloody freezing, the sun was shining and it was so beautiful, there are so many beaches there it's unbelievable, ohhh and a visit to see Hercules the beer is a must haha 👍
We will be on the same ferry to Lochmaddy next year and will be travelling in the dark to Balivanich. You mentioned how dark it was. How much traffic got off of the ferry? I think it is best as a first timer to Uist to let everyone pass me and then take my time. We were on Lewis in Sept and as travellers from Canada we appreciated how light the traffic was.
Hi, we arrived in the dark at lochmaddy and drove down to South Uist, the roads are mostly single track but there are so many passing places there nothing to worry about, I'm hoping to get back next year 🤞
@@bryanbowes2778 Thanks Bryan. I expect many one lane roads, but is the road from Lochmaddy to Balivanich two lanes?? The one from Tarbert to Port of Ness on Lewis is two lanes.
@@grantw7 hi, in think it's mostly single track roads if I remember rightly, but if you take your time and if you do get people behind you just pull into the many passing places and let other road users pass, I found the roads a lot quieter than what they were on Lewis/Harris. The locals seem very friendly there and nobody that I seen was in any kind of mad rush.
The Outer Hebrides is my favourite place. The only problem is it captures a piece of your heart and you have to keep returning.. Uist is my favourite but Harris, Lewis and Barra are all incredible too - each has its own characteristics. Loved the video - thank you!
@@highlands2hammocks The islanders must be short of something? LEVI 501's, Worcestershire Sauce, AAA batteries? Go on, ask one of them, there must be something. If its anything to go by here at the moment, its Eggs and Milk 🖖
Hi Guys what a beautiful video. Spent many holidays as a child in Scotland but the East coast with Grandparents. Always wanted to see the Western Isles but sadly never made it!! Many thanks for the views, cheers, John.
Guy, came across your channel doing my research for our trip to the Outer Hebrides. Thank you for the effort of putting this together and the what three words locations (even though I think the location near Kilbride camping wasn't quite accurate!?). Question for you... how many days in advance should I book the ferries in-between the Outer Hebrides island? To retain utmost flexibility, I would prefer to book them a day in advance, ideally. Maybe two. We are planning to travel end of May. Due you think that will be sufficient or should I book even further in advance. Thank you for your advice!
Glad you enjoyed the video! I would suggest booking far in advance for the peak season but we went in October and booked the day before so there isn’t too much of a need 😁 May would be the shoulder season so I’d suggest a couple of weeks at least 😊enjoy your trip!
@@highlands2hammocks Thanks for the advice.... I just learned that you can change the departures free of charge, so perhaps a hybrid between a fixed booking and then changing as availability allows for more flexibility might be a good approach... Will report in the series once it goes up 🙂
Now that is some views!
Isn’t it amazing? 😍

I'll give that 12/10!!! 👍 YAM xx

Scotland with Gemma and Campbell, yay!
