- Finally the day is here to pick up my new bike for the Philippines. I had planned to buy a Kawasaki H2 sx back in the states but my trip was cut short since the earthquakes happened.. Everything was hectic and so I booked a plane ticket back to the Philippines. I felt a void... I was excited about buying the new bike in the USA So I decided it's time to get one in the Philippines. I'm really happy with the Ninja 650, no regrets on choosing this bike for here. I'll get a supersport later back in the USA.

Congrats on the bike. I have a 2016 ninja 650 abs. I suggest putting the Yoshimura full exhaust on it.it cuts a lot of weight and gives it a little more power and sounds great. I also have Michelin Road 5 tires on mine for rain since im in Florida. The tires are great in my opinion

I have the same bike but traded it for a 2019 Z1000 R edition. Nice bike man its kinda fast had the engine oil changed at 100 kilo and its good to Go per my kawa mechanic meaning its broken in and no need to wait for 500 kilometers

You mentioned this bike is easy to find neutral, that’s because this bike has positive neutral finder. As long as you are in 1st and at a complete stop no matter how hard you move he shift peg up it will always go to neutral.
Also the kickstand shutting the bike off is a safety feature that all bikes have. If you aren’t in neutral and the kickstand goes down the bike shuts off no matter what.
Yeah that makes sense about neutral, I remember hearing something about that now that you brought it up.
Not all bikes shut off when you drop the kickstands. The China brands don't and Some of the smaller branded bikes as well.
hey cool! I used to ride a Yamaha YZF600R and I think these middleweight bikes are the best, not too big, not too small, just right!
I started with a 78 kz1000 and recently a Ninja 300 and a zedex 6 at the same time. Out of five different bikes, the little Ninja 300 was my favorite.
The small bikes are fun to flick around

Hard break in all the way Joseph! Once I got my 650 up to 50km odo, I usually do a constant 100+~ because that's the speed the bike will be usually travelling.
A lot of people say that the thing about the "soft break in", is that manufacturers can't *recommend* a hard break in, since that would result in a massive law suit if a rider crashed due to a manufacturer's advice of maxing speed on the road.
Still, I can relate on the harder lane splitting with the bigger bike. After riding a scooter (tricity) for a long time and getting used to the wide range of steering, it's pretty sad when you can't squeeze in some spots you know you can before.
However, I know you'll like it more and more since I know you like the faster speed. As it stands, 650-800 is the best cc range for a bike in Manila due to traffic/heat/gas.
And yeah, the essentials are the only things you shouldn't think twice of putting on, like the tank pad, the one on the side for your knees, sliders, and most essentially *A PADLOCK / MOTORCYCLE LOCK JUST FOR YOUR BIKE* you need to be extra careful with your new bike Joseph! You already know it's the Philippines, so please do buy extra safety for a kawasaki big bike.
I think I'm gonna install my alarm on this one.

Thieves here are unrelenting, even in daylight / with alarms, they don't give a fuck. The reason for this is, they know the surrounding people don't really know what to do if a theft is happening. Unless of course it's due to literally a damsel in distress.
I've had an attempt on my bike in front of a McDonalds guard. The guard literally just watched the thieves try to jam the screwdriver into the ignition, they even *HAD THE AUDACITY* the ask for pliers, since they said that "we lost our key, and the padlock is in the way". I mean, how fucking insane do you have to be to even attempt that?
Another instance was in SM Manila. The bike was *INSIDE THE MALL* and when I arrived, the ignition was fucked up due to the screwdriver, yet it was still there since I also had a padlock on the disc break. This was a different bike, a 125cc bike at that, and the ignition was so fucked up, I had to be *pulled* by another motorcycle out of the establishment because it wouldn't start.
So yeah, 2 instances wherein guards even alarms wouldn't do jack shit, but a little padlock stopped the thieves from getting the bike.

sad to hear that you didnt get the sx but the 650 is also my fall back plan if i dont get one as well lol! first off mad props for dealing with that kind of bs traffic. as for the temp gauge the only thing that i have really heard is that as long as the temp light doesnt come one then ride. i was not happy when i first got told this but riding in summer time utah my gauge is almost maxed out most of the time from anything like a 15 min ride to a 2 hr ride. the radiator and fan does a great job of bringing the heat down at least one bar for a couple minutes. does better once you actually ride into the wind of course... only real question i got is how are the breaks? are they kinda squishy like the 400s? i realize that the 650 has dual front rotors but is it still around the same sensation? ride safe and do a proper break in! then drop a gear and disappear!
I haven't noticed anything with the breaks, they have worked when needed and I felt the antilock kick in.
It doesn't get cold here so I plan to do a 15% antifreeze 85% distilled water mix then add Royal Purple ice to keep the temp down.
I still plan to get the H2 sx
Now its expressway legal , see you vlogging your speed in those areas ...... goodluck , be safe n me jealous , hahaha ...

Take all the decals off it and put your logo on it, my Honda 1100 gets up to 115 C. When it's hot out in winter it sits around 85, and Hondas are supposed to run hot I heard....
