This, being March/8th/1991, is two days AFTER the celebrated "People Time" Getz/Barron duo, live @ Cafe Montmartre, Copenhagen, "People Time" Verve double CD (also released, unedited - IN FULL - as a SEVEN CD boxed set on Sunnyside Records), which means that, quite literally, this Saint Denis, France, concert is, really and truly, the very last time Stan Getz played the saxophone - at least in public - PERIOD! He had planned to do the European Festival circuit starting, I guess in July of that year (whether duo, again, with the masterful and perfect Kenny Barron, or, perhaps quartet - I know not) but died on June 6th leaving the jazz world bereft, and many, many fans in a state of literal grief. The fact that he was playing at this astonishing level of creativity and perfection right unto the very end beggars belief. May I ask Mons. Pascal Savelon (the man responsible for posting this historic moment here on You Tube) if, perhaps he has any more, any more at all of this Saint Denis concert? In any case - Thank You in advance - and, of course, thank you so much for this jewel - for it is a pearl beyond price!
