Is it possible to have this defend in a 442 by only having one of your outside mids on come back and the cf on the same side also on come back? I'd rather defend in a 442 as having 2 men on the wings really helps in stopping the cut back rats who just run, run, run down the wing. Also, do you use the hug the sideline instruction to keep the lm and rm nice and wide when you're attacking?
I suppose it would be possible to make it defend as a back 4, however I think it's more beneficial to have the back 5 rather than the extra in the midfield. I only use hug sidelines when an opponent uses constant press to avoid it
