I've seen this guy twice in concert. He is a real entertainer! I've loved his music since I was pretty young and I'm pretty old now, 81 and still love him!
A collaberation between his piano player and Lonnie Melvin. This is as good of a song as ever written or sung. A Mt. Rushmore juke box shuffle beat classic. Nothing finer did he ever write.
My cousin wrote that song for Mel as he did for many others. yes he did play the piano for Mel… miss them all and the piano player is laid to rest next to my father..
You see the Internet is good for something to leave the present and escape to a far better time and place wooooooo 🎶🎶🎶 wooooooo 🎶🎶🎶 Johnny from Alabama 🎶🎶🎶

Seen Mel back three years ago. Had a 10 minute visit with him. What a thrill, he was a wonderful PERSON. Please God take extra good care of him! !
I think this was from 1962. The version I remember is from about 1972, when I was 9 or so. Still like it, regardless of the year it was done.
I can’t remember either, but my cousin wrote this song. Wish he was still here to get the year. He is laid to rest next to my dad.
Love Mel and all his great songs
