  • Huge thank you to SetPower for sponsoring this video so that we could help this kid out at no cost to him! We've all made mistakes that could have turned out like this or worse when we were younger, and he was very fortunate to learn his lesson without injury! Unfortunately his truck is a total loss, but I'm glad that we didn't have to add a big recovery bill to his troubles. So if you're looking for a portable fridge for your vehicle, RV, boat, or garage, check out SetPower Fridges at the link here!

Hey Casey! Juuuuust wondering 🤔 How’s your winch-line doing after those hard winchring pulls? How was it not worrying about the line falling out of the groove or slipping between the cheek plate and pulley and causing an even bigger problem? Awesome video dude!!! Thanks for all you do!

I hope he’s got a few friends that know a little bit about wrenching….I know for sure 4 good sized guys could lift that bed off and 6 can move the complete cab….if he pulled the doors and seat out they might even get the cab with 4 guys. Honestly he could even just do the cab and run with that bed for now if he had to, it’s awful looking but would be perfectly street legal. IDK why but I’m really invested in hoping that kid gets some help and gets that pickup on the road again, maybe it’s because I had a few minor F-ups that could have easily gone just as bad as this did if I was 30 seconds later, 2 feet closer, going just a little faster, etc in my old pickup when I was his age.

I agree the only one I’ve seen that might be better is one of the last recovery’s that Ron Pratt did with his father before he passed they went miles back in the woods to recover a stolen rental vehicle it was a suv of some sort and it was stuck and they needed to turn it around and get it out of there and all they had was their side by side utv with the winch on the front which was under rated for the weight but he hooked it up with extra pulleys and reduced the load on the winch by reducing it down so for each three feet of cable the winch brought in the vehicle only moved one foot

I like driving manuals and definitely like driving them when loaded and pulling a loaded trailer.
Can stay in the gear i want when going uphill without losing momentum, unlike an automatic.
Plus, stay in a lower gear going downhill and not have to use the brakes to keep the speed down.

NIce Job minimizing any further damage. I thought it might go for a ride when you were pulling it down. All the branches and debris slowed it down. Of course you do know what you are doing. glad he is ok. Could fix it and save some of his replacement costs.

Casey, you treat others the way you would want to be treated. You're a good example to us all. I ordered a setpower because, as a totally disabled vet, I tend to live out of my truck at times. Thank you for your videos - it keeps life enjoyable.

Great job Casey. Nice that a sponsor paid so that young man didn’t have a tow bill. I’m older but do clearly remember what it was like when I was young and had no money. Any unexpected vehicle expenses were devastating.

Pro hack tip for the kid with the truck.
    Get a floor jack.
Take a piece of 4x4 lumber.
Use those items to push the roof out enough to get a windshield back in it.
I’ve done it and got a bunch more of use out of an old rig.

If anyone in the Springfield area needs a driver, his dad busts out laughing, priceless, Casey well done once again, these trucks are great stoutly built for what they are and what they sold for, Casey i use to work for Chev-Olds fleet dealer here in Canada ,back in the days sold nearly 100 of these W/T 1500's in 2WD/4WD , the majority of them in 5 speed's reliable 4.3 V6 ultra low maintenance and good fuel economy 27/28 mpg CDN gallon, he can get it back on the road for a grand, i guess subject to inspection by state laws, i had one customer who even put a full electric locker in it and said it went virtually anywhere he pointed it , no problem getting 250k miles from these 👍 they are getting hard to find in decent shape

Impressive & skillful recovery in the rain, and with you truck & not a wrecker. The pulley system, chain saw, dragging and then getting the wrecked truck to the road; lifting & pulling it out and back to town, aiding the young man and his family. Quite the video & patiently you got 'it' out & then helped out the young man greatly.

When people buy trucks and actually use them, those scratches and dents are proof if got used regularly, and a truck that's used regularly needs good maintenance 😊 bought my truck as a retired construction/contractor rig, had lots of miles and rust free frame but ran out smooth down the road with no issues, 3500 miles into an oil change and it still looks like new oil 🤘 rear diff and transfer case fluids were the same way

Said it on the short, but a floor jack and 4x4 post with a sledgehammer could easily get that back into shape to hold glass and straight enough to be a box again. My father use to do a lot of those types of repairs back in the day cause it seemed every one was rolling there trucks and just needed to keep the weather out.
Floor jack on the floor and 4x4 post as a extension and slowly work it back up in a few spots and with pressure if theres any outward buckles a little love tap with the hammer and let the tension do it job. 🙃
