This is considered by many to be their most Savage album. Formulas and Altars of madness are the most unrelenting and demonic of the albums in my opinion.
Production wise perhaps. Each album has a bit of variety.
This and Gateways are peak Morbid Angel. Nothing Trey did or will do can ever top these 2 gems.

The song should have ended half way through after the solo. You have a few minutes of boring sludge riffing that ruins it methinks.

Tbf I low-key agree with you, the fast part was unbelievably good, they should have kept the tempo for the song.
I can see why you think that, but the riff sounds sooooo evil.
02:17 and the following parts made this whole song for me. That slow riff with the sliding power chords and Sumerian vocals is fucking gold. And that diminished guitar melody after is sick. It got a bit stale toward the very end of the song though.
That's alright you can switch it off after the first half then. Jams like the one at the end of this song is what makes Morbid Angel stand out from the blast fests everyone does.
