Looking at the videos of Barry before he and Iris started dating was hard to watch because Barry looked to be in physical pain every time Eddie touched her. It was like he was being hit in the gut. The pain and longing on his face and body seemed real and visceral. The joy on his face when he got Iris alone was also painfully obvious. He was like a kid on Christmas morning. The actor who plays him is a very good actor.
can we take a moment to appreciate grant gustin’s portrayal of Barry’s emotions? The jealousy and visceral pain that Barry feels when iris is with Eddie is so strong that it’s overwhelming. I didn’t realize until after finally seeing Barry with Iris how hurt Barry was. Amazing work done by Grant and the rest of the cast.

I just realized Barry Allen was never really interested in Patty as a person. He wasn’t interested in how she felt about anything. He was always joking around with her. He had to be talked into dating her by his father, (twice) and in confiding his secret identity by Iris. Other people had to remind him about her. On his own he would have never asked her out.
