Almex - Lafarge Surma Bangladesh Belt Installation - 2018

In one of the most challenging environments in the world, Almex Group Global services team completed, on April 20, 2018, the splicing and installation of 34 kilometers of Sempertrans conveyor belt on the longest single flight conveyor in the world.
The customer is LafargeHolcim Bangladesh and their conveyor brings limestone from a quarry in India to their cement plant near Sylhet, Bangladesh. The conveyor belt is elevated 8m to handle the annual monsoon rains.
Almex provided a turnkey installation that included 37 splices, x-raying of each splice, quality assurance, flaking of the conveyor belt and installation with two massive 200 hp winders and a third medium winder.
The combined team of Almex and Lafarge ensured a successful accident free installation.
